Director Raaj Shaandilyaa has firmly denied allegations of plagiarism regarding his upcoming film Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video (VVKWWV), starring Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri. The filmmaker has taken legal action against the accusers, sending a notice in response to their claims.

Controversy Surrounding VVKWWV
The comedy, set in the 1990s, follows a newly married couple whose lives are thrown into chaos when their intimate video goes missing. However, the film has recently become embroiled in controversy as producer Sanjay Tiwari and writer Gul Bano Khan alleged that VVKWWV’s concept was stolen from their script, Sex Hai Toh Life Hai.

Tiwari and Khan claim to have registered an original storyline with a similar premise with the Screen Writers Association (SWA) in 2015. They sent a legal notice to the film’s makers, including producers Bhushan Kumar and Ektaa R Kapoor, asserting their ownership of the idea.
Shaandilyaa’s Response To Feud
When contacted by Mid-Day, Raaj Shaandilyaa, who has written the screenplay alongside Yusuf Khan, strongly refuted the allegations. He stated, “We’re sending a legal notice [in response] to their allegations, and what they spoke at the press conference. These allegations are not true at all. We have not stolen anybody’s concept.”
Inspiration from Real-Life Incidents
Shaandilyaa emphasized that VVKWWV is a fictional story inspired by various news articles about similar incidents that occurred between 1994 and 2000. He explained, “Ours is a fictional story, inspired by various news articles about similar incidents that happened between 1994 and 2000. Our film has been inspired by that—about a husband and wife, who make an intimate video and the impact it has when it gets stolen.”

The director further added, “We have written an entirely different script inspired by the [news]. There are so many real-life stories like this. How can someone claim that it is their story?”

As the controversy unfolds, the film’s producers, Bhushan Kumar and Vipul D Shah, have refrained from commenting on the situation, as of now.

On Wednesday, ZEE5 announced the digital premiere of Vedaa, Samvidhan Ka Rakshak on October 10. Together, they face deep-rooted societal challenges, battling against oppressive forces like the Chief of the village played by Abhishek Banerjee who threatens to silence them. As they uncover painful truths and fight for redemption, the film weaves a powerful narrative of courage, resilience, and the pursuit of justice.

The recent reports about Saregama being set to acquire major stake in Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions has made a lot of heads turn in the industry and outside. Now, as per sources close to exchange4media, Saregama’s stake is said to value the company at Rs. 600 crores. It was also reported that Dharma reached out to Saregama for the same.

The report also mentioned that, as per industry observers, the music label may acquire more stake in Karan Johar’s firm in the future. In August this year, the publication reported that Dharma Productions is looking for a suitor.

The deal with Dharma Productions will be Saregama’s second big acquisition after they took over the digital platform Pocket Aces in FY2024. As per exchange4media, Saregama initially acquired a stake of 51.8% for Rs. 175 crores and it later acquired the remaining percentage at Rs. 385 crores.

The publication also stated that Saregama’s interest in Dharma Productions arose due to the latter’s rich legacy in Bollywood and their recent expansion into digital content and talent management. It also stated that this development has taken place amid Dharma’s decline in profit from Rs. 27.1 crores in FY22 to Rs. 10 crores in FY23. The publication got this financial data from Tofler.

Meanwhile, Saregama declared Rs. 866 crores in revenue of operations and Rs. 197 crores in net profit in FY24.

Director Rohan Sippy and filmmaker Nilesh Sahay have joined forces to create a highly anticipated holiday action comedy, titled Iss Diwali.

Rohan Sippy, who has directed films such as Bluffmaster (2005), Dum Maaro Dum (2011) and Nautanki Saala (2013), will be collaborating with Nilesh Sahay, the writer, producer, and director of Squad (2021), which marked the debut of Rinzing Denzongpa. This exciting new venture is a thrilling holiday action comedy that unfolds during the festive season of Diwali, set against the backdrop of political intrigue.

The film is presented by industry veterans Ramesh Sippy and Zaheeda and is produced by Rohan Sippy, Roopa De Choudhury, Brajesh Sahaya and Nilesh Sahay. Casting for Iss Diwali is currently in progress, with announcements to be made in due course.

“I’ve loved watching films that feature chemistry between charismatic leads, like Do Aur Do Paanch (1980), Ram Balram (1980), Main Khiladi Tu Anaari (1994) and the original Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (1998) and later making films like Bluffmaster (2005) and Taxi No 9211 (2006). So, it is very exciting to take Iss Diwali forward which continues this tradition, with the magic and emotion of our most important family festival adding to the genre’s appeal,” said Rohan Sippy.

“There’s nothing better than to celebrate the holidays with an amazing family entertainer and Iss Diwali promises just that along with tackling a major issue in today’s society. Iss Diwali is slated for release in 2025, coinciding with the festival season. The team of the film decided to announce the entertainer today, October 9, for a special reason. Also, the holiday season has begun and it’s a perfect period to announce a festive film.”

The highly anticipated sequel to the blockbuster action film War promises to be one of the most spectacular cinematic experiences of 2025. Bringing together two of India’s most charismatic and talented actors, Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr., War 2 is a project that has been generating immense excitement among fans. As per a report in Pinkvilla, sources close to the production revealed that the film’s creators are pushing the boundaries of Indian cinema with innovative action sequences. While the story remains true to the spirit of the original War, the sequel is said to be even more intense and thrilling. A significant portion of War 2 has already been filmed, but the most eagerly awaited sequence is the grand finale. Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr. are currently preparing for an epic climax that is expected to be one of the most memorable action sequences in Indian cinema history.

The climax will be shot over 20 days, with a portion of it taking place in Mumbai and the remainder filmed at an undisclosed location in November. The pre-production for this sequence is currently underway, with YRF’s creative team working tirelessly to design a visually stunning and unforgettable spectacle.

Hrithik Roshan is undergoing rigorous training to ensure that he is physically prepared for the demanding action sequences in the climax. His training regimen includes strength training, speed-based exercises, and plyometric work, all designed to enhance his agility and power. He is also training in hand-to-hand combat to perfect his fighting skills.

While a recent leaked video suggested that Hrithik Roshan and Kiara Advani were shooting a song in Italy, it has been confirmed that they were also filming action sequences during their time there. The team worked long hours in remote locations, capturing breath-taking footage that is expected to add to the visual spectacle of War 2.

Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty, on Tuesday, was presented with the esteemed Dadasaheb Phalke Award, recognizing his outstanding contributions to the film industry. This prestigious accolade, regarded as the highest honour in Indian cinema, was bestowed upon him by President Droupadi Murmu during the 70th National Film Awards ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan.

Mithun Chakraborty shared a heartfelt reflection on his journey in the entertainment sector. The veteran star, who has also received the Padma Bhushan for his significant impact on the arts, opened up about the challenges he faced, particularly regarding the prejudice he experienced as a person with darker skin. Recalling those difficult moments, he stated, “I was told ‘film industry meing kaala rang nahin chalega’. Jitna apmaan ho sakta tha, hua [I was told there’s no place for dark-skinned actors like me in the film industry. They humiliated me as much as they could],” he said.

Despite the negativity, Mithun found strength in his passion for dance, which eventually became his means of self-expression. He reminisced, “I decided to dance then. I wanted people to look at my feet, not at my face or my skin colour. Sab filmon me pairon se dance kiya, aur log mere rang ko bhool gaye.”

He encouraged aspiring talents in the industry, sharing his belief that determination can lead to success. “If I can do it, anybody can do it,” he stated.

Chakraborty reflected on his earlier accomplishments and how they impacted his mindset. He admitted that success led him to a certain arrogance, drawing a parallel to the legendary actor Al Pacino. However, he quickly recognized that such an attitude could hinder his opportunities. This realization fuelled his desire to remain humble and grounded in his craft.

In a moment of inspiration, he concluded his speech with a mantra he often shares: “Khud so jana lekin apne sapno ko mat sone dena.”

The 70th National Film Awards ceremony, honoring excellence in Indian cinema for the previous year, was a significant event, graced by the presence of the President. The Dadasaheb Phalke Award, established in 1969 to honor the pioneering filmmaker Dadasaheb Phalke, has recognized numerous illustrious personalities throughout its history, including luminaries like Raj Kapoor, Lata Mangeshkar, and Yash Chopra. Chakraborty is now the 54th recipient of this honor, following actress Waheeda Rehman, who was honored in 2021.

Earlier this year, Mithun received the Padma Bhushan, further solidifying his status as a revered figure in Indian cinema.
