Veteran Bollywood actor Govinda was rushed to a Mumbai hospital after suffering a bullet wound early this morning. The 60-year-old actor sustained the injury below his knee when his licensed revolver was accidentally discharged. The incident occurred around 4:45 am at his Juhu residence as he was preparing to leave for the airport to catch a flight to Kolkata for a scheduled performance.

According to his manager, Shashi Sinha, Govinda was alone at the time of the incident. He was placing his revolver in a cupboard when it slipped, causing the firearm to misfire and injure his leg. The actor immediately contacted his wife, Sunita Ahuja, who was in Kolkata, and his manager. Police were informed and quickly arrived at his home to transport him to Criticare Hospital, where he is currently being treated.
Govinda’s Condition Stable, Fans Receive Reassurance
Following the incident, Govinda recorded an audio message from his hospital bed, thanking his fans for their support and prayers. Speaking in a raspy voice, he said, “I was hit by a bullet, but it has been extracted. I thank the doctors here and your prayers.” The actor stated that the blessings of his fans, parents, and guru helped him during the ordeal.

Govinda’s manager assured the public that the actor’s condition is stable and that the injury, though concerning, was not life-threatening. “It is due to God’s grace that Govinda ji sustained only a leg injury and it was nothing serious,” Sinha said. Govinda’s daughter, Tina, is with him at the hospital, while his wife, Sunita Ahuja, is en route to Mumbai after learning about the incident.
No Police Complaint Filed
Despite the severity of the incident, Govinda has not filed any complaint with the police. Authorities have confirmed that the misfire was accidental and that no foul play is suspected. The actor, who also has a political role as a Shiv Sena leader, is expected to recover fully, thanks to timely medical intervention and the prayers of his supporters.

However, these reports suggest that it was an accident that occurred in his residence when he was cleaning his weapons. The actor was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where he has been undergoing treatment currently. Reports reveal that  the actor was supposed to take a flight in the wee hours of October 1 and the incident occurred in dawn. He was said to be taken to the hospital around 5:15 am.

In an ANI report, the incident was described in detail wherein it said that the actor was prepping to leave Kolkata. After cleaning, he was placing his licensed revolver in its case but it accidentally slipped and discharged a bullet which ended up wounding his leg.

Confirming the details, his manager Shashi Sinha said, “Govinda was getting ready to leave Kolkata. He was keeping his licensed revolver in the case when it fell from his hand and a bullet got fired which hit his leg.” Reassuring his fans, Sinha asserted that the actor is well on the road to recovery. “The doctor has removed the bullet and his condition is fine. He is in the hospital right now,” he added.

Meanwhile, we hear that the incident also led to some legal implications. Some reports suggest that the police has arrived to investigate the case and that they would be ceasing the revolver.

For the unversed, Govinda was one of the most loved stars from the 80s and 90s. He was known for several comedy entertainers like Hero No. 1, Coolie No. 1, Haseena Maan Jaayegi, Raja Babu, Saajan Chale Sasural, among others. His last successful venture was Partner co-starring Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, and Lara Dutta.

The recent edition of the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA), held from September 27 to September 29 in Abu Dhabi, has sparked controversy after Kannada filmmaker Hemanth Rao called out the event organizers for what he described as disrespectful treatment. IIFA Utsavam, a segment dedicated to the South Indian film industries—Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada—left Rao and his team deeply disappointed.

Hemanth Rao Calls Out IIFA for Disrespect
Hemanth Rao, known for directing acclaimed Kannada films like Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu and Sapta Saagaradaache Ello, took to Instagram to express his frustrations. In a detailed post, Rao shared that he and his music director, Charan Raj, were made to wait for hours, only to discover that they would not receive the awards they had been promised.

Rao described his experience as “a massive inconvenience and extremely disrespectful.” Despite being in the industry for over a decade and attending various award shows, this experience stood out for all the wrong reasons. “For context, I was sat till 3 AM in the morning only to realize there was no award. The same happened to my Music Director: Charan Raj,” Rao wrote.
No Mention of Nominees
Rao also criticized the way the awards were conducted, pointing out that no nominees were mentioned during the presentation. “It’s your award. You can give it to whoever you want to. That’s your choice!! I haven’t won MANY awards and haven’t lost sleep over it, so these grapes aren’t sour,” he said. However, what troubled him was the lack of transparency in the process. “The format this year was just to hand out the award. The nominees weren’t even mentioned.”

In a sharp statement directed at the IIFA organizers, Rao remarked, “Your award shows run on the talent that you put on your stage. NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND. I don’t need your award to enjoy the best job in the world.”

Siddharth Reacts: “Disrespect Towards Artists Will Not End”
Actor Siddharth, who has always been vocal about the treatment of artists in the industry, responded to Hemanth Rao’s post. He expressed solidarity, stating, “Sorry to know you and Charan had to go through this… disrespect towards artists at the hands of these middlemen will not end… but props to you for speaking out.”

The actress, after several rumours of being a part of the reality show Bigg Boss, will finally be a part for the upcoming new season, which will have Salman Khan as the host. Speaking of Bigg Boss 18, the recently released promo of the show featured Salman Khan introducing the new season which is themed ‘Time Ka Tandav’. Although the clip featured an aesthetically shot ‘futuristic’ vibe, the superstar did not divulge any details of the game audiences can expect from the new season.

The first two films in the Dhoom franchise were directed by Sanjay Gadhvi. But both the movies were written by Vijay Krishna Acharya. The latter then went onto direct and write Dhoom 3 (2013), the third film in the successful franchise. It is now learnt exclusively by Bollywood Hungama that Vijay aka Victor will have major contribution in Dhoom 4 as well.

News about Dhoom 4 was recently out, and it instantly sent a wave of excitement among the Hindi film lovers. This wasn’t surprising since the heist franchise has tremendous following among the Bollywood audience. But what took them by surprise was the announcement of Ranbir Kapoor as the antagonist in Dhoom 4.

The actor teaming up with Victor is an interesting combination. A source told Bollywood Hungama exclusively, “Vijay Krishna Acharya aka Victor has written the script for Dhoom 4. He has written all the previous three Dhoom films and directed one, so it was natural for him to be given the responsibility. He will also be directing the film. He had helmed Dhoom 3, which had then become the highest grossing Bollywood film.”

All three previous Dhoom films saw Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra as the cop duo. However, the choice of actors to play the cops in Dhoom 4 is currently under wraps.

Zareen Khan has been away from the big screens for a while, leaving her fans eagerly waiting for her return to the silver screens. Recently, the actress held an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session on her social media handle, wherein a user questioned, “You should do more movies, we are waiting”.

In response, Zareen wrote, “Well, thoda lamba break ho gaya. Hopefully, next year you all will definitely see me in the movies. Next year aap mujhe screen par zaroor dekh sakenge (Well, the break was a little longer than expected. Hopefully, next year you all will definitely see me in the movies.)”

This is not it! The actress also revealed the genres she would like to be a part of. When a user asked her about the kind of movies she’d like to be a part of, Zareen revealed, “I think I’d like to do an out-and-out comedy or an action film.” This possibly hints that the audience will either see Zareen take up a fresh role in a comedy flick or an action flick, promising an entertaining experience at the theatre!

As soon as Zareen opened up about her return to the silver screens, it left the fans excited about a potential film announcement. The actress was last seen in the track ‘Eid Ho Jayegi’, and is popular for her roles in films such as Veer, Housefull 2 and others.

Bollywood Hungama was the first one to report that Baby John’s exclusive footage will be screened at the Big Cine Expo 2024, Mumbai. At 3:55 pm today, September 30, the much-awaited glimpse was finally presented in the presence of presenter Atlee Kumar of Jawan (2023) fame, producers Priya Atlee and Murad Khetani and director Kalees. The organizers made sure that all mobile phones and other recording devices were on silent and kept inside the pocket or in the bags.

Bollywood Hungama saw the footage of Baby John and also the reaction that it elicited from the exhibitors at the Expo. It played like a trailer and was nearly 5.30 minutes long. The highlight of the trailer is of course Varun Dhawan. He shows his dance and comic avatar. In one scene, he’s also seen in Superman getup and for the first time, he unleashes his mass avatar like never before. As the cop, he might look a bit young, but he also looks convincing. He surely has in him to excite the single screen audience when he beats the baddies.

Keerthy Suresh looks ravishing and Wamiqa Gabbi also adds an interesting touch to the narrative. Rajpal Yadav, known for his comic roles, is seen in the film as a constable. His sole scene, shown in the glimpse, shows him getting emotional and even agitated. Sanya Malhotra, in a cameo, adds to the laughs. Finally, Jackie Shroff has never looked so terrifying before.

Three songs were also a part of this extended trailer of Baby John. One was the title song, which is already heard in the announcement teaser. Two other songs shown were ‘Banda Mast Hai’ and ‘Nain Mataka’.

Produced by Jio Studios, Cine1 Studios and A For Apple Productions, Baby John releases in cinemas on December 25. The single screen exhibitors, especially, couldn’t keep calm on seeing the footage. Hence, expect the Varun Dhawan starrer to storm the box office this Christmas.

Interestingly, Varun Dhawan also did video call to Atlee and thanked the exhibition community for their support.

Adah Sharma stars in Reeta Sanyal, a new Disney+ Hotstar series about a lawyer with chameleon-like skills taking on challenging cases. Produced by Rajeshwar Nair and Krishnan Iyer under Keylight Productions and directed by Abhirup Ghosh, the show is based on a character created by writer Amit Khan. Elaborating on the same, Adah Sharma said, “I try with each project to be a different person, use a different voice if I’m allowed to. From a soldier fighting for a country to a bar dancer I’m fortunate to be cast in parts allowing me to showcase range as an actor. With Reeta Sanyal I got to play a lawyer and a detective but the character isn’t just that and that’s what fascinated me. Actor and politician Kangana Ranaut is currently addressing requests from the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) concerning her directorial project, Emergency. During a recent hearing at the Bombay High Court, it was revealed that Ranaut has engaged in discussions with the board and agreed to certain revisions proposed by its revising committee.

This legal matter arose as a result of a petition filed by the film’s co-producers, Zee Entertainment Enterprises, which sought the release of the certification needed for the film’s theatrical debut. The CBFC informed the court of Ranaut’s willingness to comply with some of their suggested cuts, although it remains unclear whether she accepted all of their recommendations.

As per NDTV report, the division bench, comprising Justices BP Colabawalla and Firdosh Pooniwalla, has scheduled further hearings on the issue for Thursday. Reports indicate that the board requested a total of 13 edits to the film, which stars Ranaut in the leading role of the late former Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. The film’s release was initially set for September 6 but has faced scrutiny over allegations of historical inaccuracies and potential misrepresentations of the Sikh community.

Earlier in the month, the court had instructed the CBFC to make a definitive decision on the matter. While the court acknowledged the board’s concerns, it emphasized that it should not decide on the potential impact on public order. Justice Colabawalla raised an important point, questioning whether audiences would naively accept everything depicted in a film. He remarked, “Do you think the public is so naive they will believe everything in a movie? What about creative freedom?”

The judges urged the board to take a firm stance, stating, “Take a decision. Let’s see what the revising committee says, be it deciding to release or not, take a decision. Have the courage to say that the film should not be released. We will appreciate the stand of the CBFC.” The counsel for the board mentioned that certain scenes portray a controversial figure engaging with political parties, which adds to the complexity of the review process.

In a statement last week, Kangana Ranaut expressed her feelings regarding the CBFC’s recommendations, describing some of them as “quite unreasonable.” She acknowledged that while feedback is important, certain suggestions seemed excessive. On a more positive note, she highlighted that historians and members of the review committee who have viewed the film praised it as a faithful representation of its subject matter. “We’ve received requests for cuts, but while feedback is always welcome, some of the suggestions seem quite unreasonable… On the brighter side, most historians and members of the review committee who’ve seen it have praised it as the most faithful depiction of a leader,” she stated.

Ranaut further elaborated on the feedback she received, indicating that many reviewers appreciated the film’s commitment to authenticity. “They’ve especially appreciated our unwavering commitment to the truth, without compromising even the smallest detail. Their endorsement is encouraging, affirming that we’ve honored the story as it deserves,” she added.

Ranaut indicated that the team is dedicated to preserving the film’s essence while ensuring that it remains true to its narrative. “Nevertheless, we are ready to stand our ground and protect the film’s integrity, ensuring its essence remains intact,” she concluded.

The backdrop of this project revolves around a pivotal period in Indian history, specifically the Emergency declared by Indira Gandhi from 1975 to 1977. The film stars Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, Mahima Chaudhry, and Milind Soman.
