Actor-philanthropist Sonu Sood has yet again come forward to help people in need. While the actor’s philanthropic work during COVID earned him several fans, he continued his work showcasing his support to many. In recent times, the actor has come forward to support those infants who are battling Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), a disorder that causes severe muscle weakness. The treatment for this cause requires a whopping amount of Rs. 16 crores, and Sood’s dedication towards crowdfunding has helped save the lives of as many as 11 babies, who were suffering from the same disorder.

Recently, Sonu Sood came forward in support of a seven-month-old Sehrish Fatema, who is battling SMA Type 1. The actor has urged the public to donate and contribute to Sherish’s cause. “A small contribution can make a world of difference for this little girl and her family,” Sood said. The crowdfunding campaign to save Fatema’s life has gained momentum with Sood’s support. Apart from this, the actor also supports several other causes through his NGO, Sood Charity Foundation.

In an earlier interview with TimesNow, Sonu Sood had revealed that he finds helping people ‘very fulfilling’. He had said, “It feels very fulfilling as though I’ve found my true calling in life. What happened to my life before seems inconsequential. Of course, I will always be an actor first. But in all honesty, the work I’ve done during the past three years has given me more satisfaction than everything I did before. The faith that people have in me to help them out of their distress is very motivating.”

On the theatrical front, Sonu Sood is busy working on his upcoming film Fateh. This cybercrime thriller marks his directorial maiden venture and is expected to revolve around the subject of cyber bullying. Along with him, the film will also feature Naseeruddin Shah and Jacqueline Fernandez in pivotal roles. Fateh is slated to hit the theatres on January 10, 2025.

The mighty Diwali clash is on at the box office. Last week, it came to light that Singham Again, starring Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor and Tiger Shroff, is confirmed for a Diwali release. Meanwhile, today, the makers of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 dropped an interesting teaser poster. With the poster drop, they also made it clear that they are all set to arrive at the Festival of Lights. And now, Bollywood Hungama has learned when the much-awaited teaser will be out.

A source told us, “The teaser will be out on Friday, September 27. It’ll be a short one and will give an idea of the world of the third part. The idea is to make people aware of the release and make them curious about the content. The makers are confident that Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3teaser will succeed in grabbing eyeballs. This will be followed by the release of the trailer and songs.”

A trade source, meanwhile, informed us, “Today, Wednesday, September 25, the teaser poster of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 was out. One more poster will be unveiled tomorrow, that is, Thursday, September 26 followed by the trailer on Friday, September 27.” As per reports, the teaser is 1 minute and 27 minutes long and has been passed with a U/A certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 stars Kartik Aaryan, Triptii Dimri, Madhuri Dixit and Vidya Balan and is produced by T-Series. It brings back Kartik and director Anees Bazmee after the very successful Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022). Vidya Balan rocked the show in Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007) and her comeback to the successful series has enhanced the excitement for the third part. The addition of Madhuri Dixit and Triptii Dimri in the star cast has also made people pumped up for the horror comedy.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 releases in cinemas on November 1.

Actress-producer Neetu Chandra unveiled the first look of her highly anticipated Bhojpuri film, Kariyatthi, directed by National award-winning director Nitin Neera Chandra. The actress, who serves as the film’s presenter and producer, shared the striking poster on her social media platforms, showcasing her commitment to this impactful project.

As the title suggests, Kariyatthi which is based on a short story by Saroj Singh, addresses critical societal issues, including skin color discrimination and female foeticide, while weaving a narrative centered on colorize and female foeticide. The visually stunning poster hints at a story that promises to resonate deeply with audiences, intertwining personal experiences with significant social themes.

The film aims to reach a diverse audience by being released in multiple languages. Featuring talents such as National School of Drama graduate Annu Priya and Deepak Singh, Kariyatthi is completed and set for release early next year.

Neetu Chandra said, “This film seeks to illuminate pressing societal issues, inspiring change and fostering conversations about discrimination and gender equality. My goal is to elevate films in languages of Bihar and introduce them to a global audience. My region is rich in diverse languages, and I am committed to showcasing their significance and ensuring they receive the recognition they merit.”

Director Nitin Neera Chandra added, “My objective is to highlight social issues through engaging storytelling that not only captivates audiences but also sparks meaningful conversations. I believe that a film like Kariyatthi has the power to address critical societal challenges in a way that resonates emotionally, prompting viewers to reflect on and discuss these important topics.”

This is their fourth film after Deswa, Mithila Makhaan, and Jackson Halt. While his last release Jackson Halt received acclaim for its gripping thriller narrative, Mithila Makhaan was honored with a national award for Best Maithili Language Film, further establishing their impressive cinematic legacy.

Neetu Chandra is currently in the US touring for her musical show Umraao Jaan. She was last seen in the Sony Motion Pictures franchise Never Back Down Revolt.

With both horror comedies of the franchise enjoying a sweet run at the box office, the expectations are riding high on this one, which will also feature Triptii Dimri. Now adding to this anticipation, makers have unveiled an announcement poster confirming the release during Diwali 2024.

The anticipation is over! The new poster of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which was unveiled on Wednesday on social media, points towards the ‘main element’ of the film – which is a tightly locked door where the lock is tied up with several sacred threads. The poster comes with the thrilling tagline, ’Darwaza Khulega Iss Diwali (The door will open this Diwali)’ – indicating the return of ghost Manjulika who was locked behind closed doors in the films from the franchise. Furthermore, the film also promises to set the stage for a cinematic experience that will leave audiences on the edge of their seats.

The Anees Bazmee film is produced by Bhushan Kumar under the T-Series banner. This highly awaited Diwali blockbuster promises to continue the legacy of the beloved franchise, following the massive success of its predecessors. However, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is expected to bring a fresh storyline that will feature its patent spine-chilling elements along with witty dialogues, and catchy music.

Apart from the lead cast, the film also boasts of an ensemble supporting cast of Vijay Raaz, Ashwini Kalsekar, Sanjay Mishra, Rajpal Yadav, among others. While the date is yet to be revealed, the film is expected to release during Diwali 2024 and will be clashing with Rohit Shetty’s ambitious cop drama Singham Again.

Facing criticism for advocating the return of the repealed farm laws, Bollywood actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut clarified on Wednesday that her remarks were personal and did not represent her party’s official stance. The controversy stemmed from comments made by Ranaut during an event in Mandi district, Himachal Pradesh, where she urged the government to reconsider the farm laws, which were repealed in 2021 following nationwide protests.

Addressing the backlash, Ranaut took to X (formerly Twitter), to distance her comments from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), stating, “ I also have to keep this in mind. I am not an artist. I am a worker of the Bharatiya Janata Party and my opinions should be the party’s stand instead of being my own. So if I disappoint anyone with my words and my thinking, I will be sorry and I take my words back.”

At the event, Ranaut remarked that the protests against the farm laws had been concentrated in only a few states. She stated, “Farmers are a pillar of strength in India’s progress. Only in some states, they object to farm laws. I appeal with folded hands that farm laws should be brought back in the interest of farmers.” Ranaut argued that reintroducing the laws would ensure greater financial stability for farmers and boost growth in the agricultural sector.
Opposition’s Response
Ranaut’s remarks have not gone unnoticed by the opposition. The Congress party criticized her statements, suggesting that they signal an effort by the ruling party to bring back the controversial legislation. Congress leaders also noted that her comments come at a critical time, as Haryana is gearing up for its assembly elections on October 5. For the unversed, the state had been a focal point of the 2021 farmer protests, particularly at the Delhi borders, where large groups of farmers demanded the repeal of the three laws.

Coming back to Ranaut, besides her political remarks, she is also making headlines for her upcoming film, Emergency. The film is currently being held and CBFC is supposed to give their final decision on it, today.

Stand-up comedian, rapper and singer Munawar Faruqui has recently purchased an apartment in a luxurious high-rise project in Mumbai. The property, located in the upscale neighbourhood of New Cuffe Parade, Wadala, was acquired for Rs. 6.09 crore, according to property transaction documents reviewed by Square Yards.

Wadala has emerged as a prime real estate hotspot, owing to its strategic location and seamless connectivity to Mumbai’s main financial district, Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). The area is well-known for its blend of residential and commercial developments, making it a favoured destination for both high-profile individuals and corporate buyers.

Faruqui’s new home is situated in Lodha Aura, an under-construction premium project developed by Macrotech Developers Limited (Lodha Group). The 40-story tower offers luxurious 3 BHK and 4 BHK apartments with range of amenities. Faruqui’s purchase was a part of primary market transaction, made directly from the developer.

According to Square Yards, the apartment spans 164.25 sq. m. (1,767.97 sq. ft.) of built-up area and includes three dedicated parking spaces. The transaction, finalized in September 2024, came with a stamp duty of Rs. 36.6 lakh and a registration fee of Rs. 30,000.

The biopic Punjab ’95, on the human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, has been embroiled in a contentious battle with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film, directed by Honey Trehan and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, has faced multiple rounds of censorship, with the latest round of demands raising significant concerns about freedom of expression and the portrayal of historical events. Originally, the CBFC had demanded 85 cuts from the film. However, after a review by the Revising Committee, the number of required changes has increased to nearly 120.

As per a new report in Mid-day, one of the most controversial demands is the renaming of the protagonist, who is currently portrayed as Jaswant Singh Khalra. The CBFC has suggested that the character’s name be changed to Sutlej, a reference to the river that unites Punjab.  The makers of the film have strongly objected to this change, arguing that Khalra is a revered figure in the Sikh community and that renaming him would be disrespectful to his legacy. They have emphasized that the film’s authenticity and impact lie in its portrayal of Khalra’s role in investigating the disappearances and killings of Sikh youths during the Punjab insurgency.

In addition to the name change, the CBFC has also requested that the film be retitled to remove the reference to Punjab ’95, the year of Khalra’s disappearance. The board has expressed concerns that the title might evoke strong emotions and sway public sentiment.

Furthermore, the CBFC has demanded the removal of a scene featuring Gurbani, a sacred text in Sikhism. They have also instructed the filmmakers to eliminate any mentions of Punjab and the district of Tarn Taran. References to Canada and the UK have been deemed inappropriate and must be removed.

The makers of Punjab ’95 have been engaged in a series of meetings with the CBFC to address these demands. They have argued that the film is based on real-life events and testimonies and that the censorship requests are excessive and undermine the film’s integrity.  The film’s producers, Ronnie Screwvala and Honey Trehan, have expressed frustration with the ongoing censorship process. They have emphasized the importance of telling the story of Jaswant Singh Khalra and the human rights abuses that occurred during the Punjab insurgency.

Set in the turbulent 1990s Amritsar, Punjab ’95 revolves around Jaswant Singh Khalra, a seemingly ordinary bank employee and human rights activist, who leads a middle-class life with his librarian wife and two young children. His desire for a peaceful existence is shattered when he learns about the disappearance of his friend’s mother, Bibi Gurpej. As Khalra delves deeper into the investigation, he uncovers a dangerous web of secrets, putting himself and his family at risk.

Directed by Honey Trehan and produced by Ronnie Screwvala in association with MacGuffin Pictures, Punjab ’95 also features Arjun Rampal and Surinder Vicky in pivotal roles.

Bhumi Pednekar and Pulkit are set to reunite for a new project. The critically acclaimed duo previously collaborated on the Netflix film Bhakshak, a heart-wrenching retelling of the Muzaffarpur Shelter Case. Now, they are joining forces once again, with Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment backing the project.

As per a report in Pinkvilla, while the rest of the cast is yet to be announced, the film is currently in its early stages of development. The project marks a dream come true for Pednekar, who has long expressed her admiration for Red Chillies and its founder, Shah Rukh Khan.

During a recent Q&A session, Pednekar revealed her childhood dream of working with the superstar, sharing a heartfelt video on her Instagram story. She said, “Honestly, an actor… Actor Kya superstar, childhood dream is SRK. I have come close because he has produced Bhakshak, and the cool thing is that Dunki and Bhakshak, both are trending on Netflix, which is so so so cool. Big shout out to Red Chillies. But mera dream hei, Shah Rukh sir. He is just the best.”

Bhakshak, her previous project with Pulkit, also featured a talented ensemble cast including Sanjay Mishra, Aditya Srivastava, Sai Tamhankar, Surya Sharma, Durgesh Kumar, and Chittaranjan Tripathy. The film’s music was composed by Anurag Sakia with lyrics from Raj Shekhar and Anuj Garg.

Meanwhile, Pednekar is also gearing up for her series debut on Netflix. The Royals, a modern-day Indian royalty rom-com show, will be directed by Priyanka Ghose and Nupur Asthana. The series will also mark the Netflix debut of veteran actress Zeenat Aman.

Bollywood actress Urmila Matondkar has reportedly decided to end her eight-year marriage with businessman-model Mohsin Akhtar Mir. According to legal sources, the 50-year-old actress has initiated divorce proceedings in a Mumbai court. While the specific reasons behind the separation remain undisclosed, it is understood that the decision was not mutual.

As per a report in Hindustan Times, a source said, “After careful consideration, Urmila has decided to call it quits on her marriage with Mohsin. She has already filed for divorce in court. While the reason behind the separation is still not known, the divorce isn’t happening on mutual terms.”

Urmila Matondkar and Mohsin Akhtar Mir tied the knot in a private ceremony at her Mumbai residence in 2016. Their union, marked by a 10-year age difference, garnered significant attention in the entertainment industry. The couple’s wedding was a low-key affair, attended by a select group of close friends and family, including fashion designer Manish Malhotra.

In 2019, she ventured into politics, joining the Indian National Congress. Subsequently, in 2020, she shifted her allegiance to the Shiv Sena. Her last on-screen appearance was in the 2018 film Blackmail, where she featured in the song ‘Bewafa Beauty’. She also took on the role of a judge on a children’s dance reality show.
