As we anticipate the release of Yudhra, director Ravi Udyawar shared why he cast Malavika Mohanan in the film. For the unversed, the upcoming action thriller Yudhra starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Malavika Mohanan. Mohanan is already an established actress in South and won the hearts of audiences and critics alike.

Talking about the hot and happening Malavika Mohanan, Udyawar said, “Malavika works hard. And I knew who this character I had in mind for her was. The character is a very strong woman, written by us,” the director said.

Speaking about the character and how Malavika perfectly fits the role, he shared,“In an action film, you often believe that the female will be a soft girl. And she is that soft, beautiful girl. But she is at the same time very strong-minded. She knows exactly what she wants. And that’s the character I’ve written for her. The character begins with being a young girl who shifts to become a really smart, confident girl. She also goes through emotional maturity – and that is what I wanted to capture. You know, it’s very difficult to bring two elements like maturity and glamour together. And she does that well. She has that personality.”

Yudhra, released in theaters on September 20, is directed by Ravi Udyawar and written by Farhan Akhtar and Sridhar Raghavan, promising to be an action-packed cinematic experience. In the film, Siddhant portrays the intense and revenge-driven Yudhra, while Malavika’s character Nikhat brings depth and emotion, adding a strong emotional anchor to the story. Produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the banner of Excel Entertainment, Yudhra also features a supporting cast, including Gajraj Rao, Ram Kapoor, Raj Arjun, and Raghav Juyal as the antagonist.

Choreographer Shaik Jani Basha, popularly known as Jani Master, has been booked following serious allegations of sexual assault made by a 21-year-old woman. The complaint, filed at the Raidurgam police station in Hyderabad, accuses the choreographer of multiple incidents of sexual assault across several cities.

Details of the Allegation
Reportedly, the complainant, a young choreographer who had been working closely with Jani Master over the past few months, stated that she was assaulted on several occasions during outdoor shoots. According to her, the incidents took place in Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and at her residence in Narsingi. The case has since been transferred to the Narsingi police, where a more detailed investigation will be conducted.
Charges Filed Against Jani Master
Based on the complaint, a zero FIR has been registered, and Jani Master has been booked under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). These include charges of rape, criminal intimidation, and voluntarily causing hurt. Authorities, including Shikha Goel, Director General of the Women Safety Wing (WSW) in Telangana, have assured the public of a thorough investigation and appropriate legal action.
Jani Master’s Response Awaited
As of now, Jani Master has not issued any official statement regarding the accusations. His recent work, including choreographing popular songs like ‘Aayi Nai’ from the film Stree 2, has kept him in the public eye.

Besides Bollywood, Jani Master is well known in the Telugu film industry and has also worked extensively in Kannada cinema. In addition to Stree 2, his notable works include chart-topping numbers like ‘Photocopy’ from Jai Ho, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, and ‘Aaj Ki Raat’.

Rajiv Rai, the celebrated producer-director behind some of Bollywood’s most iconic films of the ’80s and ’90s, is making a much-anticipated return to filmmaking. Known for blockbuster hits like Tridev, Vishwatma, Mohra, and Gupt, Rai’s banner, Trimurti Films Pvt. Ltd., once ruled the box office with its high-octane action, suspense, and lavish productions. However, after a prolonged absence due to personal reasons and unforeseen circumstances that led him to move abroad, Rai is back—this time, with a fresh approach.

Rai’s comeback vehicle, titled Zora, is a fast-paced suspense murder thriller, set to release towards the end of the year. Reflecting on his return, Rai shared, “Yes, I am back. I have finished shooting my new film Zora, and it’s now in its final post-production stage, which is almost complete. The basic difference this time around is that my film doesn’t boast big names or stars. It features almost 40 new faces from across the northern Hindi belt and has been made on a shoestring budget. I’ve challenged myself as a filmmaker to execute a film on a modest budget, yet make it my most interesting feature to date.”

Known for working with rising stars who later became household names, such as Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Akshay Kumar, and Bobby Deol, Rai has always been drawn to new talent. “If you carefully look back, I’ve never worked with the top stars of that particular era, though they all became stars later,” he explained. “When I signed Akshay Kumar and Sunil Shetty for Mohra, they were rising stars. I signed Bobby Deol for Gupt while his debut film Barsaat was still in the making. New talent has always attracted me, and I’ve never hesitated to work with newcomers who I feel have potential.”

In a bold departure from his previous big-budget musical blockbusters, Zora will not feature multiple hit songs. “This time, there’s no scope for songs in the script,” said Rai. “However, there’s one song by the one and only Viju Shah, and a full-bodied background score without a second’s gap,” he added with a smile. Despite the modest budget, Rai is confident in the film’s appeal, particularly to single-screen cinema audiences. “I have made this film keeping the masses in mind, especially the single-screen cinema-type audiences, whom I consider the core viewers of India.”

Addressing the shift towards smaller budgets, Rai said, “I’ve always made films for the masses, and it will be difficult for me to ignore them. No doubt OTT is here to stay, and cinema is in grave danger. But Zora is a pure commercial mass entertainer yet written and executed intelligently. Though made on a modest budget, I’ve not compromised on my skill or the overall look. It’s a rugged yet stylish and engrossing film. I suspect people will say it has a Rajiv Rai stamp.”

As Zora nears completion, Rai remains hopeful about the film’s reception. “I am very happy with the outcome and the end result. Like every filmmaker, I’m just keeping my fingers crossed. I hope, as all directors do, that audiences like Zora. All films are a labour of love,” he concluded.

With Zora, Rajiv Rai is set to make a thrilling return to the big screen, promising a gripping cinematic experience, much like the hits that made him a household name in Indian cinema.

Mumbai’s old iconic single screen theatre Bharatmata has been temporarily shut for the last few years. It was later learned that the theatre is going through a revamp. It has now come to light that Mukta A2 Cinemas has taken over Bharatmata and the theatre will start functioning in the near future.

An industry source told Bollywood Hungama exclusively, “Bharatmata is one of the few iconic single screen theatres of Mumbai. It has a long history of showing new releases, especially Marathi films. The theatre is now taken over by Mukta A2 Cinemas. While it is not exactly known when it will resume operations, it’s certain that that will happen in the months to come, and this is enough for the film connoisseurs of the city, who have adored this cinema hall since decades, to rejoice.”

Bharatmata is one of the oldest cinema halls of Mumbai, which has stood the test of time. The theatre started way back in 1941. It saw its peak when the cotton mills of the Lalbaug-Parel were in full swing. The theatre used to be thronged by the mill workers who yearned to enjoy a good time after a hard day at work. The cinema hall specializes in showing Marathi films.

Meanwhile, Mukta A2 Cinemas’ New Excelsior, another iconic Mumbai theatre, has been temporarily shut since earlier this year. Our source also revealed that it is likely to resume operations by the end of this month.

Renowned actor, filmmaker, and playback singer Prithviraj Sukumaran’s production house has made a recent acquisition of a luxurious duplex apartment. The premium property, located in Pali Hill, Bandra (West), Mumbai, was purchased for Rs. 30.6 crore, according to documents reviewed by Square Yards. Pali Hill remains a prime destination for luxury real estate, known for its serene environment and high-end residences.

The property is situated in Narain Terraces, a ready-to-move housing society offering 3 BHK, 4 BHK, and 5 BHK apartments. According to Square Yards, the property covers 276 sq. m. (~2,971 sq. ft.) of built-up area and the purchase includes four car parking spaces spanning 40 sq. m. (~431 sq. ft.). The transaction, registered under the legal entity Prithviraj Productions Private Limited, was finalized in September 2024 and incurred a stamp duty of nearly Rs. 1.84 crore and a registration fee of Rs. 30,000.

Interestingly, Prithviraj Sukumaran, along with his wife Supriya Menon, already owns a luxury apartment in Pali Hill worth approximately Rs. 17 crore. Square Yards noted that in recent months, several celebrities have also invested in Bandra West, Mumbai, including notable figures like Ranveer Singh, Tripti Dimri, KL Rahul, and Athiya Shetty.

Prithviraj Sukumaran, a multi-talented actor, director, and producer, has become a household name in Indian cinema. Taking to Instagram, Shraddha Arya shared an adorable video shot aesthetically on the backdrop of a beach. The clip featured a mirror showcasing glimpses of the couple who look thrilled with the news and adding to it was a pregnancy kit that was positive and a sonography photo of the baby. The mirror image of the actress also showed her flaunting her small baby bump. If reports are to be believed, the actress is currently in her second trimester. The couple captioned the video saying, “We Are Expecting A Little Miracle!!! <3” and also added hashtags like ‘Pregnancy’, ‘Blessed’, and ‘Future Parents’.

Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri are all set to bring back the 90s in Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video in which things a comical turn when the newlyweds lose their CD capturing their romance. While the trailer has several hilarious punchlines and many have shared excitement about its release, some have pointed out its resemblance with the Cameron Diaz, Jason Segal starrer comedy film Sex Tape which revolves around a similar concept. However, the director the film Raaj Shaandilyaa has asserted that it cannot be the case since he has never seen the Hollywood drama before.

In an interview with PTI he asserted that he was not aware of these similarities with the American movie and insisted that they are completely different from each other.  “Vicky Vidya…” follows the titular married couple on a frantic search of a CD with a video of their wedding night, whereas Sex Tape revolves around a married couple who make a sex tape to spice up their relationship only to wake up the next morning to find that it has gone missing,” he said.  “The characters and story are different. Our film has nothing to do with Sex Tape. I’ve not even seen Sex Tape. I didn’t get inspired by it, rather I got inspired by life and the people around me,” he added. Furthermore, he also stated that the film is written by writer Yusuf Ali Khan and that work on the screenplay began back in 2018.

Meanwhile, in the same interaction, Raaj also mentioned that they are already penning down a sequel which will be set a decade or so later, that talks about the early stages of internet and social media. “Where this film ends, we’ve got a sequel, which will be set 10-15 years later, when the advent of the Internet has happened. We’ve written the story. We will shoot this film after I make another film,” he shared.

Coming to Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, the film also stars Mallika Sherawat, Vijay Raaz, Tiku Talsania, Archana Puran Singh, among others in key roles. It is slated to release on October 11, right before the occasion of Dussehra.
