The legendary love story of actress Meena Kumari and filmmaker Kamal Amrohi will soon be adapted into a feature film titled Kamal Aur Meena. Directed by Siddharth P Malhotra, known for his films Maharaj and Hichki, the movie will chronicle the couple’s 20-year-long relationship, culminating in the making of the iconic film Pakeezah.

Bilal Amrohi, grandson of Kamal Amrohi, shared his excitement about the film, saying, “It is our great honour to bring to the screen the untold love story and the immense struggle behind the making of Pakeezah, my grandparents’ masterpiece. Kamal Amrohi Sahab was known for his cinematic brilliance, and the legendary Meena Kumari ji’s journey alongside him is a chapter in Indian cinema that remains largely unexplored.”

Director Siddharth P Malhotra expressed the weight of responsibility in bringing this love story to life. “It’s a profound privilege to direct this incredible true story, though the responsibility is immense. Filmmaker Karan Johar is all set to embark on his next project. After launching the trailer for Devara and hosting a press conference with Shah Rukh Khan, the director-producer has flown to Jaisalmer to begin shooting for the Indian adaptation of the popular American reality show, The Traitors, as per a report by PinkVilla. 

According to sources close to the development, Johar is set to start hosting the show tomorrow. “He leaves today and will begin his journey of hosting Traitors from tomorrow with a bunch of contestants. It’s an exciting format, and all the creators feel that there’s no one better than Karan Johar to host,” a source told the publication. Johar will reportedly be in Jaisalmer for two weeks for the shoot.
About Traitors and Its Unique Format
The Indian adaptation of The Traitors closely follows the format of the American reality show. The game is based on the popular party game Mafia, where contestants engage in tasks and challenges, with plenty of twists and turns along the way. A group of 10 contestants will be confined to a single location for two weeks, competing to stay in the game.

After conducting a recce across the country, the team decided on Jaisalmer as the ideal location for the show. “The contestants will have to perform several tasks to remain in the game, but the competition will have a lot of twists and turns to keep the spark intact,” the source added.

There has been speculation about the celebrity contestants who will participate in the show, with names such as Karan Kundra, Sundhanshu Pandey, Raj Kundra, Anshula Kapoor, and Jasmin Bhasin being mentioned. However, an official confirmation is still awaited.

Boong, directed by Lakshmipriya Devi (LP), made its highly anticipated debut in the Discovery section of the 49th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on September 7, 2024. Set in the scenic locales of Khurukhul village in Imphal West and the town of Moreh near the India-Myanmar border, Boong tells the heartfelt story of a young boy’s attempt to reunite his broken family by reconnecting with his estranged father. The film is more than a family drama; it is a homage to the rich traditions and indomitable spirit of Manipur’s communities, brought to life through LP’s unique storytelling lens.

Inspired by folk tales and personal memories
Lakshmipriya Devi drew inspiration from the folk stories her grandmother told her during the turbulent times in Manipur in the late 70s and early 80s. Reflecting on her childhood memories, she shared, “My fondest memory is listening to my grandmother’s stories under a mosquito net while gunshots echoed in the background.” These personal memories serve as the foundation for Boong, which Devi describes as her cinematic version of those tales.

Creating Boong presented several challenges, particularly filming in Manipur with a predominantly local cast and crew, many of whom were new to the filmmaking process. However, LP expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support from the local communities that made the film possible. “It was difficult, but working with the people of Manipur was an incredible experience. I couldn’t have made this film without their help,” she said.

The highly anticipated Raid 2, which features Ajay Devgn as an honest and sincere Income Tax officer campaigning against corruption, will see the actor battle it out with a new nemesis in the sequel. While the film, also starring Riteish Deshmukh and Vaani Kapoor, has already gone on floors, the makers revealed their interest in releasing it this year itself, in November. However, there has been change of plan. After Bollywood Hungama exclusively reported director Rajkummar Gupta revealing that the film’s release has been postponed, the makers have now announced a new release date in February next year.

The Ajay Devgn film will be released on February 21, 2025 and the makers have also unveiled an announcement poster, sealing the date. In an earlier interaction with Bollywood Hungama, filmmaker Rajkumar Gupta had asserted that the release was indeed pushed to 2025. “Raid 2 is happening early next year,” Gupta had said and added, “The exact date of the release will happen from the producers’ side but it’s releasing early next year.”

Confirming the details, trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to the social media platform X, aka Twitter, to not just unveil the poster but also shared details about the film saying it stars “Ajay Devgn as IRS Officer Amay Patnaik”. In the same post, he added, “Riteish Deshmukh portrays the antagonist. The film also features Vaani Kapoor and #Rajat Kapoor” and continued by stating that it is “extensively filmed across Delhi and Lucknow”.

In the recent interview, Rajkumar Gupta had also expressed his happiness over reuniting with Riteish Deshmukh after the two of them recently collaborated for the latter’s web-series debut Pill. Maintaining secrecy on the negative character that Riteish will be playing, Gupta had shared, “More conversation about Raid 2 will happen when the promotions begin, like what character he is playing. But yes, it has been a great experience of working with him in Pill and Raid 2.”

Produced by Panorama Studios and T-Series, the film will be released now on February 21, 2025 in cinemas.

The announcement video of Border 2, featuring the voiceover Sunny Deol, was well received. If that was not enough, the excitement for the war drama grew with the addition of Diljit Dosanjh and Varun Dhawan in the lead cast. But it seems like Border 2 might face rough weather. A case filed by Bharat Shah on the first part of the film is going on in court. The popular film financier reminded the public about it by issuing a notice in Complete Cinema magazine’s issue dated September 7-14, 2024.

The public notice was issued by advocate Ajay Khatlawala, Senior Partner at Little & Co. It states that their clients, Bharat Shah and Bina Bharat Shah, are the world rights controllers of Borderand that they entered into agreement with the film’s director and producer J P Duta on November 21, 1994, to finance the war film.

The notice further stated that since differences and disputes arose between the two parties, a Deed of Settlement was executed wherein it was agreed that the revenue generated by the film will be shared between them in the ratio of 50:50. Another condition in the Deed was that J P Dutta would regularly keep Bharat Shah posted about how the film was doing financially.

The notice then revealed that according to Bharat Shah and Bina Bharat Shah, J P Dutta breached the terms of the Deed. The latter neither informed the financier about the film’s financials nor paid the profits to him.

Hence, Bharat Shah and Bina Bharat Shah filed a complaint against J P Dutta in Indian Film & TV Producers’ Council. In 2014, they even knocked on the doors of the Bombay High Court. The case has now been transferred to a civil court and is sub-judice.

The public notice ends cautioning anyone who is planning to enter into any deal with J P Dutta regarding the exploitation of the rights of Border. As per the notice, one should conduct such dealings at his/her/their own risk since the matter is pending in the civil court.

In December 2021, Bollywood Hungama spoke exclusively to Bharat Shah on this matter. Then, he said, “J P Dutta has not given us the all-India overflow. When the rights of the film were told to Sony, I was given my share. Also, I got the proceeds from the Bombay circuit. But later, I didn’t get anything.”

Bharat Shah then confirms that the case filed in 2012 is still going on, “India mein toh aisa hi chalta hai na. Taarekh pe taarekh aati rehti hai.” He continued, “And in India, civil cases take forever. Now, Covid-19 has further delayed matters. The court hasn’t given a stay and hence, those who bought the rights from J P Dutta are freely playing the film.”

This was also a time when he had filed a notice in Complete Cinema magazine. When asked what made him give the notice, Bharat Shah replied, “We gave the notice because we heard that he’s going to sell the rights. So in order to warn them, we gave the notice, taaki kal koi yeh na bole ki humko inform nahi kiya tha.”

According to a report by Mid-Day, the production team has zeroed in on popular scenic locations such as Venice, Lake Como, and Tuscany. Additionally, the filmmakers have discovered lesser-known, untapped spots to add a unique charm to the track. The Italy schedule is set to begin on September 18 and will continue for 15 days, with the romantic track being shot in the first six days.
Lavish Production for a Glamorous Pair
A source revealed to Mid-Day: “Considering Hrithik and Kiara are two of the hottest actors in Bollywood today, the director wants the video to do justice to their glamour. The romantic track, composed by Pritam, is being mounted on a lavish scale and will be shot in exotic locales such as Venice, Tuscany, Lake Como, Naples, Amalfi Coast, and the Sorrento Peninsula.”

The song, which promises to be a visual treat, is expected to capture the romantic and scenic beauty of Italy. Following the song’s completion, the team will move on to shoot a high-octane action sequence and some dramatic scenes before returning to India in early October.
Tight Security Measures to Maintain Secrecy
The production team has reportedly hired local Italian security to ensure the secrecy of the shoot. “An army of local Italian security has been hired to comb these locations before the team’s arrival. They will also be part of the shoot to ensure that no images make their way online,” the source added.
War 2: An Action-Packed Showdown Between Hrithik and Jr NTR
War 2 is expected to hit cinemas worldwide in 2025. While much of the plot remains under wraps, it has been confirmed that Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR will engage in a dance-off, a major highlight of the film. Fans are excited to witness two of the industry’s best dancers share the screen in a song composed by Pritam.

A source previously told Bollywood Hungama: “It’s going to be Hrithik vs Jr NTR in War 2, but the makers smartly and organically have come up with a situation where the two male leads will be seen dancing to a catchy song. Both Hrithik and Jr NTR are known for their exceptional dance moves, and their number is expected to be as iconic as ‘Jai Jai Shivshankar’ meeting ‘Naatu Naatu.’”
