Actors Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh are gearing up for the highly anticipated sequel to their 2019 hit De De Pyaar De, titled De De Pyaar De 2. While Tabu will not be returning for the sequel, Devgn and Singh are set to reprise their roles, with the addition of R Madhavan in a key part. The film’s next shooting schedule will commence in Punjab this September.

Punjab Shoot to Begin in September
Following an initial shooting schedule in Mumbai, the team will now head to Punjab for a significant portion of the film’s production. A report by Hindustan Times quoted a source saying, “The first shoot schedule was in Mumbai, but then Ajay had to leave for the Son of Sardar 2 shoot in the UK. R Madhavan, Rakul, and Ajay will shoot in Punjab for some time and then return to Bombay for the next schedule in October.” The Punjab schedule is expected to last 15-20 days, starting in mid-September.

In a notable casting update, R Madhavan will play a pivotal role as Rakul Preet Singh’s father in De De Pyaar De 2. According to sources, his character will have several humorous interactions with Ajay Devgn’s character, Ashish. The film will focus on family dynamics, with much of the Punjab shoot set in traditional, homely settings.
Details of De De Pyaar De 2’s Scenes in Punjab
“The scenes in Punjab will mostly take place inside a bungalow and around the farms. The aim is to capture the beauty of the state while emphasizing the family scenes,” revealed the insider. The production team is working at full speed to ensure the film wraps up by the end of the year.

While the first film was directed by Akiv Ali, De De Pyaar De 2 will be helmed by Anshul Sharma. Sharma intends to retain the chemistry between Rakul Preet and Ajay Devgn from the original, while also bringing fresh elements to the story. The source also hinted at a surprise addition to the cast, possibly indicating a cameo that the makers are keeping under wraps.

The team aims to complete the shoot by year-end, with a planned release for May next year.

Unlike all the previous films of Salman and Sajid, Sikandar is high on drama and emotions with a strong social message,” a source told Bollywood Hungama.

The source also informed us that it’s a fight for the right for Salman Khan. “While Salman has a past full of rage and anger, he will be fighting the system in the present to win over the audience. This time the cause is bigger than ever before but with loads of entertainment. Sajid and Murugadoss will reintroduce Salman as the Angry Young Man, fighting for the people and their rights.”

For those unaware, Sikandar is one of the most ambitious films of Sajid Nadiadwala and is set to hit the big screen on the festive period of EID 2025!

Amid rising concerns about proper representation of Sikhism in Indian cinema, actor and singer Gippy Grewal has called for the inclusion of a Sikh member on the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). His comments come as Kangana Ranaut’s film Emergency faces censor troubles due to allegations of misrepresenting the Sikh community.

Gippy Grewal’s Demand for Sikh Representation in CBFC
Gippy Grewal, currently promoting his film Ardaas Sarbat De Bhale Di, recently voiced the need for a Sikh representative on the CBFC. According to him, this inclusion would ensure better scrutiny of films that depict Sikhism or the state of Punjab. Grewal pointed out that while the CBFC can flag certain content issues, it may lack the cultural or religious understanding needed to identify potential misrepresentations of Sikh beliefs.

He stated that having a Sikh expert would help ensure that films with Sikh characters or religious themes are treated with sensitivity and respect. “The board can check on the larger things, but it is important for an expert member to check things from a religious perspective,” he told India Today.
CBFC and Emergency Controversy
Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency, which was slated for release on September 6, has encountered a delay due to its pending approval from the CBFC. The film, set during the 1975 Emergency period in India, has reportedly sparked concerns among Sikh groups for allegedly misrepresenting the community.

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), an influential Sikh religious body, has been particularly vocal, calling for the CBFC to ban the film and demanding that Sikh voices be included on the certification board. They argue that unilateral decisions taken without proper religious input have led to the misrepresentation of the Sikh faith in the media.

In a statement, the SGPC reiterated its stance, saying, “It is very important to include a Sikh member in the Central Film Censor Board, as unilateral decisions are being taken only because of the absence of a Sikh member.”
Gippy Grewal’s Approach to Film Certification
Grewal has set a different example with his upcoming film, which was shot at Hazur Sahib, a prominent Sikh shrine in Maharashtra. Before submitting his film for certification, he approached the management committee of the gurdwara to get a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to ensure that the film respected religious sentiments. He believes this kind of religious consultation should be a standard practice for films portraying Sikhism.

“Having a Sikh representative in the board is important for films which talk about Sikhism, represent the community, or represent the state of Punjab in any form,” Grewal said, adding that religious consultation can prevent misunderstandings and controversies.

With Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency still awaiting clearance and facing significant backlash from the Sikh community, the debate over representation in Indian cinema continues to heat up.

Mukesh Bhatt and Vishesh Bhatt moved the court over the title of Aashiqui despite having copyright over the name. While the Delhi court passed a judgement in favour of the production house, Vishesh decided to share the reason behind taking legal action, albeit he owned the trademark for the title. The producer asserted that he wanted to ensure that the name is never used in the wrong context, not only by other producers but also by the media.

Vishesh Bhatt opened up about the threat of losing the essence of the title when media abuzzed with reports about another film using a similar title. The producer told India Today in an interaction, “There were a lot of unsolicited people, the wrong kind of people across the country and everywhere, who are misusing the brand ‘Aashiqui’ for a period of time.” He went on to add, “It just continued and we issued a couple of public notices also. There was a lot of turmoil and fake news going on, even in the media, who were picking up the fake news and publishing it as true without confirmation from us. As responsible people, we didn’t want ‘Aashiqui’, which is a brand that belongs to the people of India, to be misused by certain groups or irresponsible people to spread things. So, we put public notices early on and inform the public and media at large.”

“But in the world we are living in today, fake news and misinformation is carried faster, as legitimate. And we were very worried about ‘Aashiqui’ being misused. Hence, the only hook left was to get something as strong and powerful as a court judgement, which says that the word ‘Aashiqui’ cannot be misused, essentially by anybody if it particularly doesn’t involve us,” he concluded.

For the unversed, the feud started when certain reports claimed that T-Series is making the third instalment of Aashiqui with Kartik Aaryan and Triptii Dimri in the lead. However, the production house maintained that even though it is a romantic drama, it doesn’t have any connection to the Aashiqui series.

Speaking of the romantic drama franchise, Aashiqui released in 1990 featuring Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal in the lead and about two decades later, the sequel for the film witnessed Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor presenting another heart-touching story of star-crossed lovers.

Raveena Tandon has expressed her shock over the violent assault of 15-year-old Utsav Mondal by a mob inside a police station in Bangladesh. The incident took place in the Sonadanga area of Khulna after Mondal was accused of posting allegedly offensive remarks about Prophet Muhammad on social media. Although initial reports suggested that the boy had died from his injuries, Khulna Metropolitan Police’s Deputy Commissioner (South), Mohammad Tajul Islam, later clarified to India Today that the boy is alive and receiving medical care.

Raveena shared her reaction over the issue on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “Heartbreaking . This world is going back to the dark medievial ages ….”

Raveena Tandon had previously decried violence against minorities in Bangladesh, which is currently experiencing a crisis. She had written, “I express my solidarity with the victims and call for an immediate end to this violence. It is essential that Global leaders and influencers, especially from India, speak out against these atrocities and work together to protect the rights and dignity of all people. We must not remain silent in the face of such suffering.”

Around 11:45 PM, a group of local madrasa students brought 15-year-old Utsav Mondal to the police station, accusing him of posting “objectionable comments” about Prophet Muhammad on Facebook. As news spread, tensions escalated, with more students and Imam Association members gathering outside the station, demanding harsh punishment for Mondal.

Mohammad Tajul Islam reported that the students initially sought to have Utsav judged by their own laws, even calling for his execution. Despite the deputy commissioner’s assurances that legal proceedings would follow, the protesters remained unsatisfied. By evening, the crowd grew to nearly a thousand, intensifying the situation.

A false report circulated via a mosque loudspeaker claiming Utsav had been lynched briefly dispersed the crowd. However, once it was clear he was still alive and in police custody, tensions surged again, with the mob demanding Utsav be handed over.

By midnight, the situation had deteriorated significantly. Despite the presence of police, army, and navy personnel, the mob overran the police station and violently attacked Utsav in front of them.

Utsav, who was critically injured, was eventually rescued by army personnel and taken to a medical facility. Authorities confirmed on Thursday morning that he is being treated at an army hospital and is now in stable condition. A blasphemy case has been filed against him, and the police have pledged to take the necessary legal steps.

According to reports, the couple is expected to welcome their baby on September 28. Their temple visit has only added to the anticipation as the countdown to their new chapter as parents.

As Deepika Padukone prepares for motherhood, reports suggest that she will be taking an extended break from work. Her last appearance was in the film Kalki 2898 AD, and she plans to return to the big screen in March 2025.

Sanjeev exclusively told Bollywood Hungama, “The short is about destruction of nature at the hands of humans. The felling of trees starts a domino effect. Deforestation leads to landslides and disturbed weather patterns. The pollution all over triggered an avalanche. The dirty ice melts into streams while reddened rivers and waterfalls mix into the sea. Spills and tsunami ultimately reach the iceshelves. The idea is to show how global warming is drowning the world in blood.”

Sanjeev continued, “All of the above mentioned is just visuals, the only language being the eerie wailing of mother nature. The short ends with just one word – #Stop.”

The popular comedy No Entry starring an ensemble cast of Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan, Fardeen Khan, Lara Dutta, Esha Deol, Bipasha Basu, and Celina Jaitly received much love from audiences for its slapstick humor that director Anees Bazmee is famous for. While producer Boney Kapoor and the filmmaker are reuniting for the sequel, the excitement for the same is palpable. However, the sequel, despite the announcement, is yet to go on floors as the casting is to be finalized. Amid several rumours on the casting, Fardeen has confirmed to Bollywood Hungama that it is indeed in the making but has also asserted that it is a new star cast.

Much to the disappointment of many fans who were eager to see Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan, and Fardeen Khan reunite on screen yet again, Fardeen Khan has asserted that the makers are keen on taking the franchise ahead with a different star cast. “I think it has been announced but we are not in it. It’s got a whole new star cast. So, damn it!” he joked as he opened up about it to Bollywood Hungama. “You should call Boney Kapoor for this,” he added.

Meanwhile, during the interaction, Fardeen Khan also recalled his experience of shooting No Entry which recently completed 19 years. “As an actor you know it was my first attempt at allout comedy where I had to play a little silly, funny, goofy kind of a character who’s not (very smart) who’s very vulnerable and naive. It was something very different from the way I saw myself. It really freed me up because I had to really let go. I was a bit hesitant doing that but (it was because of) Boney Kapoor’s belief on me. He saw me doing some of a couple of such scenes in Khushi. He said ‘Fardeen you’re right for this role,  it’ and I was like ‘Really?’. Because it was a remake of Charlie Chaplin (2002) and my role was played by Prabhu Deva. Of course, I interpreted it quite differently.

He went on to add, “Boney also put together a great team starting with Anees Bazmee who is the king of that genre. There’s a lot you can do with the way he writes and the lines he gives you. A lot of the scenes you know we couldn’t keep a straight face while doing them. And then you also have actors like Anil Kapoor, and Salman Khan also killed that role. It all came together well. The ladies also did their part and they really enjoyed what they did. It doesn’t happen very often because I think comedic genre is the hardest to do not only from an acting point of view but even from a writing point of view because you can’t force the audience to laugh. You know laughing is a spontaneous reaction. I cherish all my memories with No Entry and it was a great learning experience for me.”

Meanwhile, No Entry 2 continues to stay in the news. While names of several actors have been doing the rounds, there has been no official confirmation on the same.
