Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani starrer Don 3 shoot delayed due to Farhan Akhtar’s acting commitments: Report

The highly anticipated Don 3, starring Ranveer Singh in the lead role, has faced another delay in its production schedule. Initially slated to begin filming in August 2023, the movie’s shoot was pushed to January 2025. However, as per a report in News 18, the schedule has been further postponed due to Farhan Akhtar’s acting commitments in his upcoming film, 120 Bahadur, which chronicles the heroic Battle of Rezang during the Indo-China war of 1962.

Farhan, who is set to play Major Shaitan Singh PVC, shared his first look on Instagram, announcing that the shooting for 120 Bahadur had already begun. A source told the publication, “Farhan wants to honor his commitment to 120 Bahadur before focusing on Don 3. As the shoot for the former will take several months, the Don 3 schedule has been pushed by about four months and is now expected to begin in May-June 2025.”

Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani busy with other projects

While fans are eagerly awaiting to see Ranveer Singh in the iconic role of Don, he is currently focusing on other projects. The actor is presently working on an untitled directorial by Aditya Dhar, which has garnered significant buzz. Meanwhile, Kiara Advani, who will also star in Don 3, is busy shooting for War 2 alongside Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR. This delay in Don 3’s production gives both actors more time to wrap up their ongoing projects.

Mixed reactions over Ranveer’s casting as Don

The news of Ranveer Singh stepping into Shah Rukh Khan’s shoes for the third instalment of the Don franchise had left the internet divided. While some fans welcomed the fresh casting, others were upset that Shah Rukh would not be reprising his iconic role. Despite the mixed reactions, anticipation for Don 3 remains high, with many curious to see how Ranveer will bring his own flair to the legendary character.

Farhan Akhtar’s other Directorial projects face delays

Farhan’s directorial plans have seen multiple delays, not just with Don 3. His long-awaited project, Jee Le Zaraa, a road-trip film centered on female friendships, starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Katrina Kaif, and Alia Bhatt, has also been pushed indefinitely. Alia Bhatt shared in an earlier interview that while the film has faced scheduling conflicts, the intention to make it remains strong. She stated, “There is a time and place for everything, and you just have to wait for the right moment to come together.”

Anil Kapoor becomes the only Indian actor to feature on TIME’s 100 most influential figures in Artificial Intelligence realm

In a new development, the realm of artificial intelligence has witnessed a convergence with celebrity rights. Time magazine’s recent list of the 100 most influential figures in AI underscores this intersection, featuring Indian actor Anil Kapoor and Hollywood star Scarlett Johansson among the notable names.

As per the magazine, Anil Kapoor’s inclusion is because of his role in safeguarding celebrity rights in the digital age. Last year, the Delhi High Court issued a landmark ruling in his favor, restraining the unauthorized use of his name, image, voice, and signature catchphrase for commercial gain. The court’s decision marked a significant victory for celebrities seeking to protect their intellectual property in an era where deepfakes and AI-generated content have blurred the lines between reality and fiction.

Anil Kapoor’s legal battle highlighted the pervasive misuse of celebrity personas in the online world. Unauthorized merchandise sales, false endorsements, and the creation of derogatory deepfakes were just a few examples of the exploitation he faced. The court recognized that while freedom of speech is a fundamental right, it cannot be used to infringe upon the rights of individuals, including their right to privacy and reputation.

TIME’s new cover: The 100 most influential people in AI https://t.co/P81KOzsSlC pic.twitter.com/mjUT1UUx26
— TIME (@TIME) September 5, 2024

Scarlett Johansson’s experience further emphasizes the ethical implications of AI in the entertainment industry. In a statement last year, she revealed that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman had approached her to lend her voice to the company’s AI system. While Altman believed that her voice would provide comfort to users, Johansson declined the offer. Her decision underscored the importance of consent and agency in the development and deployment of AI technologies that can have far-reaching consequences for individuals.

The inclusion of Kapoor and Johansson on Time magazine’s list of influential figures in AI is a clear indication that the intersection between celebrity rights and artificial intelligence is a topic of growing importance. As AI continues to advance and its applications become more widespread, it is essential to establish clear guidelines and regulations to protect the rights of individuals and prevent the misuse of their identities.

Delhi Crime gears up for season 3 with Huma Qureshi joining Shefali Shah; filming to commence in Delhi: Report

The critically acclaimed Indian web series Delhi Crime is raising anticipation for its upcoming season with the addition of actress Huma Qureshi. The show, known for its sharp storytelling and unflinching portrayal of serious crimes, has secured Qureshi for a key role in its third installment.

According to a report in Peeping Moon, the details surrounding Qureshi’s character are under wrap. Leading the charge once again is actress Shefali Shah, who reprises her role as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Vartika Chaturvedi.  Chaturvedi will delve into another heinous crime plaguing the bustling metropolis of Delhi and its surrounding areas.  Joining Shah are returning cast members Rasika Dugal, Rajesh Tailang, and Adil Hussain, with a sprinkle of fresh faces taking on pivotal roles.

Tanuj Chopra, the directorial force behind the previous season, returns to helm the new installment.  Writer Sudhanshu Saria, who recently directed Janhvi Kapoor’s film Ulajh, joins the creative team as a key writer.

The production has been quietly simmering in pre-production for the past three months and is poised to begin filming this week in Delhi itself officially.  While plot specifics are closely guarded, whispers suggest that the upcoming season will delve into the grim reality of human trafficking.  However, it remains to be seen whether the story will draw inspiration from a real-life event or unfold as an entirely fictional narrative.  The first season of Delhi Crime captivated audiences with a portrayal of the aftermath of the infamous 2012 Delhi gang rape, while the second season tackled the notorious Chaddi Baniyan Gang.

The wait for Delhi Crime Season 3 is expected to culminate in a mid-2025 premiere on Netflix.

Vicky Kaushal’s Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj look in Chhaava came to life after year-long research; team recreated replica of the sword of the warrior: Report

The biopic Chhaava, an exploration of the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj played by Vicky Kaushal on the big screen, is a testament to the meticulous research and attention to detail that can elevate a historical drama. Director Laxman Utekar, driven by a commitment to authentic representation, embarked on a year-long journey to immerse himself and his team in the world of the 17th-century Maratha king.

As per a report in Mid-day, central to this endeavour was an extensive exploration of Maharashtra’s historical towns and cities. Utekar and costume designer Sheetal Sharma ventured to Aurangabad, Ratnagiri, Pune, Nashik, Paithan, and beyond, delving into the cultural nuances and visual aesthetics of the era. Their quest for authenticity extended beyond the books and scholarly texts, as they sought firsthand insights from the very places where history unfolded. A source elaborated, “Some filmmakers love playing with whites and pastels that are far removed from the world they are depicting, but Laxman wanted to be authentic in his storytelling. When the team began their research by visiting Maratha towns, they found out that Indians are not about pastels, but about a blast of colours. Laxman and Sheetal visited several forts and museums in these cities and towns that further gave them an insight into the dressing and culture of that era. They also met historians, who studied that period.”

Rashmika Mandanna, who plays Sambhaji’s wife Yesubai, wears stunning Paithani sarees that were sourced from local weavers. The team even purchased and restored old sarees with 500-year-old borders to ensure that the costumes were as authentic as possible. “For Rashmika’s look, the costume design team went to Paithan and Narayanpeth from where authentic Paithani and Narayanpeth sarees were sourced. Considering many fabrics used in that period were no longer available, they scoured museums and took pictures of the fabrics and textiles, which were then replicated by weavers. Some old sarees, including a few pieces that had 500-year-old borders, were also bought and restored. Rashmika has worn many Paithani sarees with Chandrakala designs,” the source said.

The team’s dedication to detail extended to every aspect of the production. The look of the leading man, Vicky Kaushal, was carefully crafted to reflect the historical depictions of Sambhaji Maharaj. By studying statues and busts from various locations, the team was able to capture the king’s distinctive features and mannerisms. The iconic throne scene in the film’s teaser was inspired by a historical bust from Pune, while the accessories worn by the characters were sourced from local markets and museums. The costume design team meticulously researched and recreated the intricate jewellery and adornments of the era, ensuring that every detail was historically accurate. “The last image in Chhaava’s teaser, of Vicky sitting on the throne, has been designed based on a bust in Pune. The accessories have been sourced from Kolhapur, Sawantwadi and Ratnagiri. The jewellery as well as accessories had to have an old-world charm. So, Rashmika has worn the Lakshmi haar with a nath—a look that was replicated from images and artefacts found in museums. Sambhaji’s sword Bhavani was recreated from a museum in London, by production designers Subrata Chakraborty and Amit Ray,” the source added.

Chhaava, adapted from a Marathi novel written by Shivaji Sawant, sees Akshaye Khanna play the role of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb and Divya Dutta steps into the role of Vicky Kaushal’s stepmother Soyarabai. The film is scheduled for a December 2024 release.

Boney Kapoor announces new film Shrimaan Bharat at Cine Talkies poster launch event

Veteran filmmaker Boney Kapoor revealed his upcoming project Shrimaan Bharat at the poster launch of the second edition of Cine Talkies. The event saw Boney sharing insights about the film industry and the cultural significance of cinema in India.

Cinema as a Tool for Cultural Reflection
During the event, Boney Kapoor spoke about the importance of films that leave a lasting impact on society. He remarked, “We make all kinds of films here, and the ones that perform the best are those that teach something. There are many such films. Plus, our history reaches the audience through films.” Kapoor highlighted how Indian cinema, over the years, has expanded its influence worldwide. “As of today, Indian films are shown and are popular in at least 160 countries. Even the Oscars have recognized our filmmakers, and many countries have acknowledged and respected them.”
A Tribute to the Legends of Indian Cinema
Kapoor paid tribute to Indian cinema’s stalwarts, recalling memorable moments of recognition for filmmakers like Satyajit Ray and Raj Kapoor. He shared an anecdote about Satyajit Ray, who was honoured by the people of France with an award at his home when he was unwell. Similarly, when Raj Kapoor was in poor health, he was awarded the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, with the Indian President breaking protocol to personally hand him the award.

“Why did he honour him? Because the films Raj made had such strong content, they influenced the masses of that time. That means the film industry commands that level of respect in India. This is possible because our roots are strong,” Kapoor said, underscoring the influence of Indian cinema globally. He also pointed to the recent success of RRR, a Telugu film recognized by the Oscars, as a sign of the widespread respect for Indian films in every language.
Boney Kapoor’s New Venture: Shrimaan Bharat
Amidst the discussion, Kapoor unveiled his latest project, Shrimaan Bharat. Though he kept most details under wraps, he did offer a glimpse into the significance of the title. “I make films; I’ve made many films. Some have succeeded, and some haven’t. Right now, I’m working on one, and I can tell you the name of one of them: Shrimaan Bharat,” Kapoor revealed. He added that more information would be shared in December, but for now, the title stands confirmed.
