EXCLUSIVE: Anubhav Sinha to unveil his 3.0 avatar; to make a commercial biggie with action and car chase sequences; hints that it might be a SUPERHERO flick; says, “In my lifetime, I have seen Ra.One as a flop and then as a hit film”

Anubhav Sinha began his career as a film director with the musical hit Tum Bin (2001). He then graduated to making slick action films like Dus (2005) and Cash (2007) followed by the superhero flick Ra.One (2011). In 2018, he switched gears and made acclaimed films like Mulk (2018), Article 15 (2019) and Thappad (2020). The media and even the actors in his film along with his contemporaries called this new phase in his career his 2.0 version. Now, it seems that Anubhav Sinha 3.0 will soon be unveiled as the director is all set to make a larger-than-life mainstream film. Anubhav spoke about it exclusively with Bollywood Hungama.

When asked what he will make next after IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack and whether it’ll be a series, he replied, “It won’t be a show for a long time to come as it takes away too much time. I am making a film, and I am on my way to making some bigger films. I am yearning to make music. I haven’t had songs in my films in 6-7 years. I love making songs, visual effects, action, etc. like I did in Dus and Ra.One. In fact, a lot of people have forgotten that I used to make films like Dus and Ra.One!

The writer said that he’d like to disagree. After all, Ra.One, starring Shah Rukh Khan, is now remembered very fondly as people now realize what path-breaking VFX Anubhav and his team managed more than a decade ago. He smiled and said, “In my lifetime, I have seen Ra.One as a flop and then as a hit film!”

Referring to the cult song of the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer, he continued, “Now I want to make my own ‘Chammak Challo’ again! I want to have a big action sequence and a big car chase. I am writing it and soon, you’ll hear from me about it. It may be another superhero flick!”

When asked if this means the advent of Anubhav Sinha 3.0, he said, “That’s not important. I should be having fun making the film. That’s what matters (smiles).”

Kangana Ranaut reacts after Bombay High Court refuses to order certification to Emergency: “I have become everyone’s favourite target”

Kangana Ranaut’s film Emergency, which was set to release this week, has encountered a significant hurdle after the Bombay High Court declined to intervene in the certification process. The court’s decision comes in light of a prior directive from the Madhya Pradesh High Court, which had already instructed the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to carefully examine objections raised against the film before approving it.

After Bombay High Court’s order, Kangana Ranaut took to X, formerly Twitter, to react saying, “Today I have become everyone’s favourite target, this is the price you pay for awakening this sleeping nation, they don’t know what I am talking about they have no clue why I am so concerned, because they want peace, they don’t want to take sides.”

“High court has blasted censor for illegally withholding the certificate of #emergency,” the actor added.

Today I have become everyone’s favourite target, this is the price you pay for awakening this sleeping nation, they don’t know what I am talking about they have no clue why I am so concerned, because they want peace, they don’t want to take sides. They are cool, you know…
— Kangana Ranaut (@KanganaTeam) September 4, 2024

As per NDTV, a bench comprising Justices BP Colabawalla and Firdosh Pooniwalla highlighted that issuing orders would conflict with the Madhya Pradesh High Court’s instructions. The bench observed, “Judicial propriety prevents us from passing any orders today, as it would contradict the standing directive from another high court.” The panel further remarked that instructing the CBFC to act otherwise would put them in breach of the existing legal framework.

The Bombay High Court, however, emphasized that the CBFC should consider the raised objections carefully and reach a decision by September 18. The court’s statement alluded to a broader context behind the delay, stating, “We are aware that there are other factors at play. However, we shall refrain from making further comments.” The next hearing is slated for the day after the certification deadline, leaving the film’s release uncertain.

This judicial impasse follows a petition submitted by Zee Studios involved in the production of Emergency. The production house has urged the court to facilitate the release of the film, alleging that the CBFC has been unnecessarily delaying the issuance of the certification. The petition claims that the certification was already prepared but has yet to be formally issued. Legal representatives for the producers accused the board of acting arbitrarily, suggesting that external pressures may be influencing the process.

Adding to the controversy, earlier this week, a separate legal petition was filed in the Madhya Pradesh High Court by certain religious organizations. These groups expressed concerns over specific scenes in the film, which they argue could potentially misrepresent their community or historical events, sparking unrest. The court responded to these concerns by directing the CBFC to give due consideration to these objections before any formal certification is granted.

The drama, based on a pivotal era in Indian history, was originally scheduled for a September 6th release. However, the objections raised, have pushed the release date into limbo. Several Sikh communities have accused the film of not only distorting historical facts but also presenting certain groups in a negative light, thereby inciting communal tensions.

The film’s focus on a highly controversial period in Indian history, particularly the national emergency declared in the 1970s, was expected to stir debate. Kangana Ranaut essays the role of former PM Indira Gandhi in the movie.

Dalljiet Kaur accuses ex-husband Nikhil Patel’s alleged girlfriend Safeena Nazar of being a home-breaker; says she is 30 years old and has two kids

Dalljiet Kaur, who got married with much grandeur in India in March 2023 to Kenya-based Indian businessman Nikhil Patel, has been undergoing a rather strenuous divorce with him. The actress relocated to India in January this year and has been accusing her husband of an extra-marital affair. Now, on social media, the popular television actress has revealed that she confronted the other woman in the life of her ex-husband Nikhil Patel, Safeena Nazar.

In an Instagram Live session, Dalljiet Kaur was heard saying, “I have two questions in mind. The first is, if he was already happy doing all that he is doing today, why did he marry me? Maybe, he would not have gotten this sort of publicity then.” She went on to speak about the famous adage about a woman being an enemy in another woman’s life as she added, “Second, jo log bolte hai na ke ek ladki hi ladki ki zindagi barbaad karti hai, sahi bolte hai (When people say that a woman is responsible for the destruction of another woman’s life, they are right). I am not blaming her, I think I will blame her.”

She also went on to continue, “Jab husband wife ke beech koi problems chal rahi ho tab toh anyway wo log ek dusre ke bare mein kuch acha nahi kahenge, aise mein kisi third insan ko wo void complete nahin karni chahiye (When a husband and wife are dealing with their issues, they would obviously not be saying good things about each other but that doesn’t mean a third person gets a chance to fill that void and they shouldn’t do it either). It is morally wrong.”

In the same interaction, referring to Safeena Nazar, she shared details about her to her social media fans and followers as she stated, “Aap khud shaadi shuda ho, pati hai, 2 bachhe hai aur kisi aur ke pati ka void fill kar rahe ho (you are a married woman with two kids and you want to fill the void of someone else’s husband)? Why? I will have this question in my heart all my life. I do not think that she needed to do whatever she is doing. Kya pata, hoga unka koi reason shayad (Who knows, she might have a reason).”

For the unversed, best known for her performance in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, Dalljiet Kaur was earlier married to Shalin Bhanot in 2009, and the couple have a son named Jaydon. They separated in 2015, after which she married Nikhil Patel in 2023. Currently her divorce case is being heard in a Kenyan court and the actress has also stated that she will be returning to her television career soon.

Amar Kaushik reveals Ayushmann Khurrana starrer vampire film is titled Thamba: “We’ll be starting production within the next two months”

Fresh off the box office success of Stree 2, director Amar Kaushik is diving headfirst back into the world of supernatural creatures and comedic chills. In a recent interview, Kaushik offered a glimpse into his upcoming projects, revealing the title and production timeline for his next film while providing an update on the highly anticipated sequel to Bhediya.

Stree 2, a follow-up to the 2018 horror-comedy hit, smashed box office records, crossing the coveted Rs. 500 crores mark globally. The film reunited the original cast, including Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana, who faced a new threat plaguing the town of Chanderi.

With Stree 2 firmly behind him, Kaushik is now setting his sights on expanding his genre-bending universe. While fans eagerly await news of a potential Stree 3, Kaushik is prioritizing two other projects – a sequel to the werewolf film Bhediya and a brand-new vampire movie.

For Bhediya 2, the story seems to be taking shape, though the director isn’t quite ready to call it a done deal. “The script isn’t locked yet,” Kaushik shared with India Today, “but we’ve hammered out the story. Now we need to flesh out the screenplay. There are a few sections of the narrative that I’m not entirely happy with, so we’re going back to the drawing board to refine those parts.”

Bhediya, released in 2022, starred Varun Dhawan as a man grappling with a unique werewolf curse. While the script for Bhediya 2 continues to be developed, Kaushik is wasting no time in moving forward with his other project – a vampire film titled Thamba. “We’ll be starting production on Thamba within the next two months,” Kaushik revealed. While specific details about the plot and cast remain under wraps, the director’s comments suggest that filming is set to begin in the near future.
