On August 14, Bollywood Hungama was the first one to report that the Akshay Kumar-starrer Sky Force won’t be able to make it on October 2 in theatres, as scheduled. As expected, the news became a talking point, and many wondered what the new release date of the film would be – will it be released later this year, or would the release be pushed to next year?

Bollywood Hungama has learned that the makers have locked a release date for Sky Force. A source told us, “Sky Force would arrive in cinemas on January 24, 2025. It’ll be a Republic Day release and is the right time to be presented to the viewers as it’s a patriotic entertainer. An official announcement will happen soon.”

There were murmurs that Sky Force’s promo would be attached to the Independence Day release, Stree 2. This is because Stree 2, like Sky Force, is also a Jio Studios and Maddock Films production. But after the decision to postpone the Akshay Kumar-starrer was taken, the idea to showcase the teaser was dropped.

This also means that there won’t be any more Akshay Kumar releases in 2024. He has had three releases this year – Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Sarfira and Khel Khel Mein. Khel Khel Mein incidentally clashed with Stree 2 on August 15. Akshay also had a hilarious cameo in Stree 2.

Sky Force would be Akshay Kumar’s sixth release in the Republic Day week. His first film Saugandh (1991) released on January 25. The week has been lucky for him as all his previous Republic Day releases like Elaan (1994), Khakee (2004), Baby (2015) and Airlift (2016) were successes at the box office. It now remains to be seen if Sky Force also follows suit.

Besides Akshay Kumar, Sky Force also stars Sara Ali Khan, Veer Pahariya and Nimrat Kaur. The period aerial action thriller is backed by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films and Jyoti Deshpande of Jio Studios and is directed by Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Kapur.

A video that has quickly gone viral on social media platforms shows the couple enjoying a leisurely drive through the bustling streets of Mumbai in their latest acquisition. While the exact details of the vehicle were initially shrouded in mystery, a little digging revealed that it is a Land Rover Range Rover 3.0 I LWB Autobiography, valued at over Rs 3 crores.

Known for its opulent interiors, cutting-edge technology, and sophisticated design, the Range Rover has long been a favourite among celebrities and luxury car enthusiasts.  This is not the first time Sidharth and Kiara have made headlines for their impressive car collection. Sidharth already owns a Land Rover Range Rover Vogue and a Mercedes-Benz ML-Class SUV, while Kiara drives an Audi A8L and a BMW 530D.

On the professional front, both Sidharth and Kiara have been busy with exciting projects. Sidharth’s recent work includes the action-thriller Yodha and the web series Indian Police Force. While he hasn’t announced any upcoming projects yet, it is reported that he exited the project Mitti and is in conversation for a role in Race 4.

Kiara, on the other hand, has several high-profile films in the pipeline. She will be seen sharing the screen with Ram Charan in Game Changer and with Jr NTR and Hrithik Roshan in War 2.

The eagerly anticipated action film Sikandar, starring Salman Khan, has begun production in Mumbai. With director AR Murugadoss at the helm, the film is set to be a visually stunning and high-octane cinematic experience. The production team has meticulously crafted a massive set replicating the bustling Dharavi slum in Goregaon, Mumbai.

According to a report in Mid-day, Salman Khan is at the heart of Sikandar. The actor has been shooting for the film at the SRPF Ground in Goregaon and a hospital in Marol, where he will be engaged in intense action sequences. Salman remains committed to delivering a powerful performance despite a recent rib injury.

The production team has carefully planned the shooting schedule to accommodate his recovery, focusing on lighter action scenes during his working hours. Body doubles are being utilized for more demanding stunts, ensuring that Salman’s health is prioritized while maintaining the film’s high production value.

Excitingly, Indrajith Sukumaran, brother of Prithviraj Sukumaran, was spotted at the mumbai airport, while leaving from the set of Anurag Kashyap’s next as he has completed the shoot for the film. This indeed makes up wonder, what’s his next about?

If sources are to be believed, “Anurag Kashyap’s upcoming film is centered around a subject that has been kept under wraps for a very long time. There is a lot of hush-hush around the script. Indrajith Sukumaran was spotted at the airport as he finished his schedule and headed back to Chennai.”

A shooting incident occurred outside the residence of Punjabi singer and rapper AP Dhillon in Canada’s Vancouver, according to sources. While an official confirmation is yet to be received, reports suggest that gunfire was heard near the singer’s home in the Victoria Island area.

The Lawrence Bishnoi-Rohit Godara gang has claimed responsibility for the shootings. This attack comes weeks after AP Dhillon released the music video ‘Old Money,’ featuring Bollywood actor Salman Khan.

A threat message circulating on social media alleges that the gang carried out shootings at two locations in Canada on the night of September 1—one on Victoria Island and another in Woodbridge, Toronto. The gang has also issued a threat to AP Dhillon, referencing his alleged connections with Salman Khan, warning him to “stay within his limits” or face dire consequences.

Canadian law enforcement agencies are currently investigating the authenticity of the post and the facts surrounding the shootings. No official statement has been released by the police.

The Madhya Pradesh High Court has requested clarification from the Central government regarding the certification status of Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut’s controversial film Emergency. The court’s inquiry comes amidst rising concerns and legal challenges from the Sikh community, who allege that the film portrays them in a negative light.

Sikh Community’s Allegations Against Emergency
According to a report by Bar and Bench, the High Court’s notice follows a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by the Jabalpur Sikh Sangat, a Sikh organization that has expressed strong objections to the film’s content. The group alleges that Emergency, which is set against the backdrop of the 1975 Emergency during the tenure of then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, contains material that could harm societal sentiments and misrepresent the Sikh community. The petitioners are seeking to halt the film’s release, arguing that it is not in the public interest.
Legal and Certification Challenges
Senior advocate NS Ruprah, representing the Sikh body, emphasized the potential impact the film could have on societal harmony. In response to these concerns, the High Court has asked the Central government to clarify whether Emergency has received certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which is necessary for the film’s release in theatres.

Besides MP, the Punjab and Haryana High Court heard a similar case filed by Mohali residents Gurinder Singh and Jagmohan Singh, who demanded that the CBFC revoke the censor certificate for Emergency. They further requested that the film be reviewed by eminent Sikh personalities before its release. However, the plea was disposed of after the CBFC informed the court that the film had not yet been cleared for public viewing.

The release of Emergency, originally scheduled for September 6, has been postponed due to these controversies. The Shiromani Akali Dal has also called for a ban on the film, citing its alleged misrepresentation of the Sikh community.

Ajay Devgn, who is currently shooting in the UK, recently took to Instagram to announce the Muhurat of Son of Sardaar 2. Prime Video today announced the exclusive world premiere of its highly anticipated Original movie The Mehta Boys at the prestigious 15th Chicago South Asian Film Festival (CSAFF) to be held between September 19 – 22, 2024. The Original movie will be showcased on the Opening Night of the festival on September 20. An Irani Movietone LLP and Chalkboard Entertainment LLP production, produced by Boman Irani, Danesh Irani, Vikesh Bhutani, and Shujaat Saudagar, The Mehta Boys is also directed by Boman Irani, and written by Irani along with Alexander Dinelaris Jr., Oscar winner for Best Original Screenplay for the film Birdman.

The film features a highly talented cast including Boman Irani, Avinash Tiwary, Shreya Chaudhry, and Puja Sarup. The Mehta Boys is based on a father and son at odds with each other, who find themselves compelled to spend 48 hours together. The film follows their tumultuous journey and offers a nuanced exploration of the complexities often inherent in a father-son relationship.

The Arjun Kapoor-Bhumi Pednekar starrer The Lady Killer has had a unique journey. Its trailer was quietly dropped on the internet a few days before its release. It hit cinemas on November 3 in very limited screens across the country as a token release. Many couldn’t see it in cinemas and were waiting for it to be out on digital. And the wait is now finally over.

Today, that is, September 2, The Lady Killer started streaming on the YouTube channel of T-Series. And interestingly, it’s available not on rent or pay per view but for free of cost.

Directed by Ajay Bahl, The Lady Killer is the story of a chemist who gets in a mess when he gets involved with a mysterious woman. After the film was out in cinemas, Ajay Bahl revealed in an interview that the thriller was released in cinemas though its shoot was not fully complete.

On the film front, Arjun Kapoor would next be seen in Singham Again as the antagonist Danger Lanka. Bhumi Pednekar, meanwhile, would be seen in two intriguing web shows – Daldal and The Royals.
