Boong follows Boong, a young boy from the valley of Manipur, who plans to surprise his mother with a gift. In his innocence, he believes that bringing his father back home would be the most special gift. His search for his father leads to an unexpected gift – a new beginning.

Director Lakshmipriya Devi, who has always aspired to tell stories, chose to direct Boong only when a story from her own experiences emerged. This narrative organically developed while seeking closure from a difficult part of her childhood in Manipur, a place she calls home in the northeastern corner of India. Drawing from her experience as a First Assistant Director on landmark Indian productions such as Luck by Chance, Talaash, PK, and A Suitable Boy, Devi makes her directorial debut with Boong.

Boong will have a World Premiere in the Discovery section at the 49th Toronto International Film Festival, taking place September 5-15, 2024.

Boong is a bittersweet reflection of her memories of Manipur, demonstrating the production house’s dedication to bringing heartfelt and impactful stories to the forefront of global cinema.

The series narrates the story of two police officers from different eras, connected by a mysterious walkie-talkie that activates at 11:11 PM for 60 seconds. The senior detective Shaurya Anthwal, played by Dhairya Karwa, and the young officer Yug Arya, portrayed by Raghav Juyal, unravel cold cases, altering the past and present with each discovery. Kritika Kamra’s character, Vamika Rawat, links these eras, guiding Yug while being unaware of the extraordinary connection between him and Shaurya.

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has leveled serious allegations against gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, claiming that the notorious criminal attempted to kill him and his family members. The shocking revelation came to light in the chargesheet filed by Mumbai police in connection with the firing incident at Khan’s residence, Galaxy Apartments, in Bandra.

According to the 1,735-page chargesheet, Salman detailed the numerous threats he and his family have endured from Bishnoi and his gang over the years. The actor expressed his belief that the April 2024 shooting was a direct attempt on his life, orchestrated by the gangster.

According to a report by India Today, the statement by the actor read, “I heard a cracker-like sound. Then, at around 4.55 am, the police bodyguard said that two people on a bike had fired from a weapon at the Galaxy Apartment’s first floor balcony. There had been attempts to hurt me and my family prior to this as well. I have learnt that Lawrence Bishnoi has taken responsibility for the attack from social media. So, I believe that it is the Lawrence Bishnoi gang who have carried out the firing on my balcony.” 

It further read, “Earlier also, Lawrence Bishnoi and his gang members in an interview talked about killing me and my relatives. So, I believe that Lawrence Bishnoi, with the help of his gang members, carried out the firing incident when my family members were sleeping inside and planning to kill me and my family members so they carried out the attack.”
Extensive Surveillance and Deadly Plans
The charge sheet unveiled a chilling plot by Bishnoi’s gang to eliminate Salman Khan. A dedicated team of around 70 individuals was tasked with monitoring the actor’s movements across Mumbai, his Panvel farmhouse, and even Goregaon Film City. The gang had meticulously planned the attack for several months, procuring lethal weapons, including AK-47s, AK-92s, M16 rifles, and a Turkish-made Zigana pistol – the same weapon used in the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.
A Long-Standing Feud
The attempted murder of Salman Khan is believed to be a culmination of a longstanding rivalry between the actor and Lawrence Bishnoi. The gangster, known for his connections to organised crime, is believed to have a personal grudge against Khan.

In addition to the gold coin, Shah Rukh Khan is set to receive the career achievement award at the 77th edition of the Locarno Film Festival. The award ceremony will take place on August 10 at the Piazza Grande open-air venue, followed by a screening of his film Devdas (2002) and a conversation with the actor on August 11.

According to a report in Pinkvilla, Siddharth has been meticulously developing the script, exploring new formats within the action genre. “Siddharth is a big endorser of the action genre, and he has the aim to explore new formats in this space with his directorial. After brainstorming several ideas, he has locked a big-scale two-hero action film as his next directorial. He has been working on the script for a while now and is finally in the stage of proceeding to casting,” revealed a source.

Bringing superstars together

The film promises to bring together two of the biggest superstars in Indian cinema. This strategic casting aims to create a cinematic spectacle designed for the big screen, offering audiences an exhilarating and immersive experience. “It’s a new genre of action, and the execution for spectacle will surprise the cinema-going audience.
