Bollywood’s leading lady Deepika Padukone is embracing a new chapter in her life as she prepares to welcome her first child with her husband Ranveer Singh. The actress has made the heartwarming decision to prioritise motherhood and has turned down several high-profile projects, including a coveted role in the highly acclaimed series, The White Lotus.

Deepika and Ranveer are eagerly anticipating the arrival of their baby, due in September. The actress has decided to take a step back from her professional commitments to fully immerse herself in this new phase of life. A source close to the couple shared with The Times Now, “Deepika is incredibly excited about motherhood. She has always had a natural connection with children and is looking forward to nurturing her own baby. She plans to be a hands-on mother and won’t be relying on external help.”
Ranveer Singh is Protecting Deepika Padukone For Toxicity 
The report further stated that Ranveer has been protecting Deepika from online trolling and hate. The source said, “I don’t think Deepika knows about it. Ever since she got pregnant, Ranveer has been protecting her from all toxicity on social media. Deepika is entirely focused on her impacting motherhood. She has not signed any new film. She said no to a very prestigious international series. I don’t think she will be back to work anytime soon.”

Speaking of the professional front, Deepika is currently seen in the sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD. In addition to this, before the news of her pregnancy became public, Deepika completed her work on Rohit Shetty’s action-packed Singham Again. The film, featuring an ensemble star cast, will see Deepika in a powerful role as Shakti Shetty. Besides her, the film will also star Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, and Kareena Kapoor Khan.

Acclaimed filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar gave a double treat to his fans in 2022. This was when he had 2 releases, both on OTT – the Tamannaah Bhatia-starrer Babli Bouncer and the intense drama thriller India Lockdown. The award-winning director-producer hasn’t been in the news in a while and Bollywood Hungama has learned that he’s busy preparing for his next project. And this venture happens to be the sequel to one of his much-loved films, Fashion (2008).

The source told Bollywood Hungama, “Madhur Bhandarkar is working on the script of the sequel. It would be based on the current times and would throw light on changes in the fashion industry. The first part was released 16 years ago and since then, the industry has transformed. Madhur wants to throw light on these aspects in his style while also telling a compelling story.”

The source also revealed, “He is already in touch with a studio that is willing to produce Fashion 2. However, at the same time, an OTT platform has reached out to him and shown interest in the sequel. But they wish to have it as a series.”

The source continued, “Hence, Madhur Bhandarkar is now mulling whether the sequel to Fashion should be a film or a web series. He is expected to take a call in a couple of weeks. After that, he’ll start the process of signing actors.”

Fashion starred Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut and both won the National Award in the categories of Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress respectively. It told the story of Meghna Mathur (Priyanka Chopra), a small-town girl who became a supermodel and how her life took a turn for the worse. Kangana Ranaut, meanwhile, essayed Shonali Gujral, a top model who suffered a downfall. The other actors in the film were Mugdha Godse, Arjan Bajwa, Samir Soni, Arbaaz Khan, Chitrashi Rawat and others. Fashion was released on Diwali in 2008 and was loved for its writing, execution, performances and soulful music score by Salim-Sulaiman.

Alia Bhatt is gearing up to showcase a completely new avatar in her upcoming spy thriller, Alpha. The actress is currently engrossed in intense action sequences for the film, which is part of the Yash Raj Films’ spy universe. As per a report by Mid-Day, sources reveal that Alia is currently filming a particularly brutal and gory action sequence with veteran actor Bobby Deol, who is playing the antagonist in the film. 

Alia Bhatt Shoots For Alpha With Bobby Deol 
The duo is locked in intense hand-to-hand combat, as well as weapon-based fights, for a scene choreographed by renowned action director Casey O’Neill. For the unversed, O’Neill, known for his work on blockbusters like Jawan, Top Gun: Maverick, and Jack Reacher, brings his expertise to Alpha to create a visually stunning and high-octane action sequence. 

A source told the publication, “It is a no-holds-barred set-piece full of blood, gore and brutality, as Alia and Bobby go at each other with weapons as well as hand-to-hand combat. She is dressed in black, with a gun strapped to her thigh, while Bobby sports cropped hair and a salt-and-pepper beard. The makers wanted Casey to design the stunts as he is an expert in advanced stunt technology.”
Shoot To Continue For Four Days 
The scene is being shot on a heavily guarded set at Film City in Goregaon to maintain secrecy, as producer Aditya Chopra is keen on keeping details under wraps. The source further explained, “This shoot will take over four days. Since it is one of the film’s most important scenes, Adi has ensured that the location is impregnable. They have about 100 guards manning it and covering all vantage points.” 

Having said that, it is worth mentioning here that Alia Bhatt has dabbled in action before, with a brief stint in Heart of Stone. However, Alpha will mark a significant escalation in her action-hero journey. 
Sharvari To Join Alia Bhatt After Completion Of Action Sequence
Coming back to the report, it also mentioned that Sharvari, who plays Alia Bhatt’s sister and fellow undercover agent, will be joining the shooting schedule after the completion of the current action sequence. The film also features Anil Kapoor as a mentor to the two female leads, expanding the YRF spy universe beyond its male-dominated lineup.

Zee Studios, Emmay Entertainment and JA Entertainment have released an official statement regarding Vedaa. The much-anticipated action thriller starring John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh is facing a release hurdle as the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has inexplicably delayed granting the film a certification. The film is set to arrive in theatres on August 15, 2024. It also stars Abhishek Banerjee and is directed by Nikkhil Advani. The film went on floors in Rajasthan on June 20, 2023. Now, the makers dropped a lengthy statement regarding the release.

In a statement released today, the film’s producers, Zee Studios, Emmay Entertainment, and JA Entertainment, expressed their disappointment and frustration over the ongoing delay. Despite submitting the film for certification well in advance of the prescribed eight-week window, the makers claim to have encountered unexpected roadblocks.

Vedaa was initially screened by the CBFC on June 25, following which it was unexpectedly referred to a revising committee without any clear explanation for the initial examining committee’s concerns. Since then, the producers have been engaged in a relentless pursuit of clarity and a timely certification, but to no avail. The statement says, “We, the producers of Vedaa, feel compelled to share with our fans & supporters that despite our best efforts, we are still to secure a clearance and certification from the CBFC of India.”

The statement further reads, “Adhering to protocols we applied for certification well before the prescribed eight weeks to release. Our film was screened for the CBFC on June 25th. Post this, we were advanced to a revising committee review without any explanation as to what the esteemed examining committee’s concerns or objections were. Since then, we have waited patiently for a revising committee to be constituted, impressed on all respected and honourable office bearers and repeatedly daily documented our appeal for certification, consideration or even an explanation. Despite this unusual delay, we have full faith in the system in place and are confident that the CBFC will oblige us rightfully.”

They have made multiple appeals to the CBFC for a resolution, including detailed documentation of their efforts. The film was slated to release on August 15, a date that holds special significance for the team given the success of their previous collaborations, Satyameva Jayate and Batla House, on the same day. The producers are hopeful that the film will eventually receive the green light from the CBFC, allowing them to meet their target release date. “It is our earnest request and wish that these words reach those who are able to help us resolve and dissipate this impasse and have our film certified. August 15th is a special date that we are fortunate to find ourselves in a position to bring our film to fans of John Abraham and Nikkhil Advani, who have supported our previous releases Satyameva Jayate and Batla House on the same date,” they continued.

Vedaa is described as a powerful and entertaining film inspired by current events. The producers are confident in the film’s appeal to audiences and are eager to share it with them.

The timeless love story of Laila and Majnu is set to enchant audiences once again, this time on the silver screens of Kashmir. Actor Avinash Tiwary announced on Thursday, July 25, that the 2018 romantic drama, which marked his debut, will be re-released in theaters across the region starting August 2.

Starring alongside Triptii Dimri, the film is a modern adaptation of the classic folklore, penned by renowned filmmaker Imtiaz Ali and brought to life under the direction of his brother, Sajid Ali. Produced by Imtiaz Ali’s former wife Preety and Ekta Kapoor, the film initially met with a lukewarm response at the box office. However, over the years, it has developed a cult following, with its poignant portrayal of love and loss resonating deeply with audiences.

“We are thrilled to bring Laila Majnu back to the big screen, especially in Kashmir,” said Avinash Tiwary in a statement to PTI. “The overwhelming demand from fans has been heartwarming, and we believe there’s no better place to relive this magical love story than amidst the breathtaking beauty of the valley.”

Both Tiwary and Dimri have come a long way since their debut in Laila Majnu. Tiwary has garnered critical acclaim for his performances in films like The Girl on the Train and Madgaon Express, while Dimri has solidified her position as a promising talent with her roles in Bulbbul, and Qala. She was most recently seen in Bad Newz.

One of the biggest sporting events of the year – the Paris 2024 Olympics – is all set to commence on July 26 and the excitement across the world for it is tremendous. Last week, it was announced that popular singer Shaan and others will add a musical touch to the Olympics this year with their performance at the first-ever India House in Paris. And now, Shaan has revealed about the tracks he’ll croon and one of them includes an unused song from the Kartik Aaryan-starrer Chandu Champion.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Shaan revealed a song from Chandu Champion, which he recorded, never made it to the final cut and was dropped. He’ll sing this very song at the inaugural night on July 27. He further said that he’ll dedicate it to the Indian athletes. Incidentally, Chandu Champion was also a story of an Olympic winner.

Shaan said, “There’s a song that I recorded for Chandu Champion, but it wasn’t used in the film. I will be performing that for the first time, dedicating it to the Indian athletes. We will also perform a medley of songs related to sports and patriotism. Besides that, I will also sing songs such as Deewangi Deewangi (Om Shanti Om; 2007), Dus Bahane (Dus; 2005) and Koi Kahe Kehta Rahe (Dil Chahta Hai; 2001), among others.”

The said event will take place at India House, Prairie du Cercle, Paris and tickets for the show begin at €5.00. At present, the tickets for the inaugural night have been sold out. The India House at the Olympics has been the brainchild of Nita Ambani’s Reliance Foundation.

Shaan’s performance is expected to be around 90 minutes. The other artists to perform later are Raghu Dixit, Tommy Khosla, Penn Masala, Neeti Mohan, etc.

In the interaction with Hindustan Times, Shaan also opened up on his connection with the Olympics saying, “My first cousins Rahul Banerjee and Dola Banerjee, who have represented India at the highest level in archery, will be there as coaches this time. So, I have a family connection with the Olympics.”
