The much-awaited film Kalki 2898 AD was released today across the world in multiple languages – Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam – and also in multiple formats – 2D, 3D and IMAX. The advance booking has been very encouraging and the IMAX shows especially are much in demand. Sadly, many excited moviegoers who turned up to watch the morning show of Kalki 2898 AD’s Hindi version in several IMAX theatres faced disappointment as these shows were not played.

A multiplex official said, “To start the film in a theatre, a KDM (Key Delivery Message) which is like a passkey, needs to be issued by the distributor. Only then the film can be accessed and played for the viewers. Many IMAX theatres didn’t get the KDM for the Hindi version of Kalki 2898 AD. Hence, they couldn’t play the morning show. The exhibitors had no choice but to refund the amount.”

The source continued, “Many tickets were sold as it’s one of the biggest films of the year. The patrons were highly upset about knowing that the show was not happening. Some even got agitated. But we were helpless. Let’s hope the KDM arrives so that at least the afternoon shows can be played.”

Bollywood Hungama also got reports that the IMAX show in Tamil version in Chennai also wasn’t played due to the same reason. It is, however, not clear how many screens of IMAX didn’t play the morning show of Kalki 2898 AD’s Hindi version. The source, however, added, “The Telugu shows of Kalki 2898 AD in IMAX, however, were played without any problem as its KDM was delivered in time.”

A few days ago, Bollywood Hungama reported that on the morning of Monday, June 24, the distributor of Kalki 2898 AD asked exhibitors to keep the IMAX bookings on hold. Accordingly, the theatres stopped selling tickets. On Monday evening, the exhibitors were allowed to resume ticket sales and were informed that only the 2D version would be played in IMAX.

Kalki 2898 AD stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani. It is directed by Nag Ashwin and backed by C Aswani Dutt of Vyjayanthi Movies.

Sagar Bhatia has redefined Qawwali for the younger generation with his fresh take on it. He revived their interest in this genre which was once so popular amongst Hindi music listeners. And now, he is set to take it to feature films as well, with his first qawwali track in a Bollywood film up for release.

Sagar is making his playback singing debut with Akshay Kumar starrer Sarfira. The film will feature a qawwali track sung by Sagar titled ‘Khudaya’ and will add to the narrative in a beautiful way. Talking about this feat, an excited Sagar said, “Proud and ecstatic to reveal my Bollywood playback singing debut! This is a milestone I’ve always dreamed of. Sharing a piece of our heart with you. I can’t wait for you all to hear this one.”

The singer has been signed by Karan Johar under Dharma Cornerstone Agency and this marks his first film project with them. On other fronts, Sagar has done tours globally with his concept Sagar Wali Qawwali, gathering millions of fans worldwide for his music. He garnered popularity for his covers of iconic retro Hindi songs, and his originals have also garnered immense praise for him. Some of his original tracks include ‘Mera Ishq’, ‘Royi Hovegi’ and ‘Ishq Ch Kamli’.

Sarfira is the official Hindi remake of the successful and acclaimed Tamil film Soorarai Pottru (2020). Apart from Akshay Kumar, it also stars Radhika Madan and Paresh Rawal.

The much-awaited Kalki 2898 AD was released today and has taken an encouraging start at the box office. The film generated tremendous buzz due to the exciting cast, the future element and also the connection with the mythology. The visuals in the trailers indicated that this is a film that needs to be seen on the big screen. The film has met most of the expectations and it has also offered a huge surprise to the viewers in the end.

The sci-fi action entertainer has an incomplete end. But it won’t disappoint viewers as the makers make it very clear that a sequel is in the offing. In fact, ‘The Kalki Cinematic Universe continues’ is mentioned before the end credits start rolling. Uorfi Javed took to her Instagram story this week to share a story by posting a picture of the trio wherein she also mentioned that she has known Armaan Malik as well as his wives Payal and Krithika Malik and appreciated them as human beings. Further defending about the existence of polygamous practices being a part of the society since older times, Uorfi penned a note in support of the BB OTT 3 contestants, saying, “I have known the family for quite some time and I can vouch they are the nicest people I’ve ever met! If the three of them are happy, who are we to judge. The concept of polygamy exists since long, it’s even popular till date in some religions. If the three of them are okay, we are no one to comment!”

“Although, I don’t think that day is far off. Then, I would like to see those who now say, ‘It’s their life, if he can keep both or all three happy together, then what’s the problem?’ Don’t worry. This karma cycle works in such a way. Someday, some girl will say that she wants to have two husbands and will keep them happy, then I will see how many of you step forward to support her. The same bunch will be the first to not leave any stones unturned in character assassination,” she shared.

She concluded by adding, “As a society, we are already on a destructive path. And yes, just because a mistake has been happening for years, doesn’t mean it should continue. Yesterday, the fans and trade got a surprise as it was announced that Baby John will now arrive on Christmas. It was originally scheduled to be released in theatres on May 31 but now has been pushed to December 25. It is backed by Jio Studios and in an interesting development, the production house has managed to book all the three major holidays of 2024 for their exciting releases. While Stree 2 will arrive on Independence Day (August 15), Singham Again has been locked for a Diwali release. This decision marks a significant step in Jio Studios’ efforts to capitalize on festive periods, which traditionally see higher cinema footfalls.

Stree 2 is the sequel to the 2018 horror-comedy hit, Stree. The original star cast – Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana and Pankaj Tripathi – feature in the second installment. The film is even more awaited after the success of the recent release Munjya, which was also set in the same cinematic universe. It is also produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films and directed by Amar Kaushik.

Singham Again, meanwhile, has tremendous buzz due to the association of blockbuster director Rohit Shetty. Ajay once again reprises his role of Bajirao Singham and this time, he’s joined by Kareena Kapoor Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Tiger Shroff. Though it’ll clash with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which is another highly awaited film, the charismatic presence of its leading man, the high-octane action (a hallmark of the series) and its patriotic fervour are sure to pull in viewers.

Finally, Baby John stars Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi and is produced by Jawan director Atlee. The actress, however, was extremely upset over the baggage ordeal and took to social media to share her disappointing experience at the Heathrow airport. The actress apparently had to wait for over 2-3 hours to get her own baggage and described the issue in a series of posts.

In a series of videos and photos she posted on her Instagram story, Aditi Rao Hydari described her awful experience at the Heathrow airport as she continued to wait for the arrival of her baggage. In the first post she said, “Heathrow chaos x 10000 2 hours at an empty luggage belt! (vomiting face emoji) @heathrow_airport Worst!!!!!!! (angry face emoji)”.

In yet another post, she shared a screenshot of her conversation with Heathrow airport’s official social media page where she took up the issue with the authorities of the airport but received a response where the airport clearly denied ‘any control’ over the ‘baggage handling process’. Upset over their response, Aditi shared the screenshot of the same along with a caption that read, “Heathrow their hands off any answers”.

In a series of posts, the actress started a countdown which went on to 32 hours, which is more than da day, wherein she revealed that she has not received her baggage, further asserting that the airport authorities have refused to take any responsibility. “And 17 hours later Another countdown @british airways Where is my luggage?
