Former Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor Gurucharan Singh has returned home after being missing for almost a month. Gurucharan, known for his portrayal of Sodhi, had been missing since April 22, prompting concern among fans and family members.

According to an India Today report citing the Delhi Police, Singh was found to be on a religious journey. During his time away, he visited several gurudwaras in cities, including Amritsar and Ludhiana. The actor explained to the police that he had left his worldly life to embark on a spiritual quest but he later felt that he should return home. His family had filed a missing persons’ report after he failed to return to his parents’ home in Delhi, where he was visiting from Mumbai.

The investigation revealed that Singh is a follower of a meditation sect and had even expressed interest in traveling to the Himalayas for further meditation. His sudden disappearance had led the Delhi Police to file a kidnapping case, but it was later determined that his absence was voluntary and religiously motivated.

Financial records showed that Singh was a frequent user of credit cards and managed multiple bank accounts. He had reportedly withdrawn Rs 14,000 from an ATM during his absence and used credit cards to juggle balances between accounts. Singh’s father, Hargit Singh, expressed surprise at his son’s financial situation, stating that he was unaware of any financial difficulties his son might have been facing.

The entertainment industry is in mourning following the passing away of Leelu Sidhwani, mother of renowned film producer Ritesh Sidhwani. Mrs. Sidhwani passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024. A statement released by Ritesh Sidhwani’s team reads, “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing away of Mrs. Leelu Sidhwani on May 17 2024.”

Reportedly, Ritesh Sidhwani’s mother was taken to P.D. Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Centre in Mumbai as she was seriously ill. Celebrities such as Malaika Arora, Amrita Arora, Javed Akhtar, Farhan Akhtar, Shibani Dandekar, Zoya Akhtar, Sharman Joshi, Chunky Pandey, and others paid a visit.

Funeral Arrangements

Prayers for Mrs. Leelu Sidhwani will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 3:15 pm at Quantum Park, RG Level, Union Park, Khar West. The cremation ceremony will follow at 4:30 pm at Santacruz Hindu Crematorium,

Bhumi Pednekar is embarking on a new noble project to provide relief to animals from the sweltering summer heat! She is concerned about how birds and animals are finding it difficult to cope with the ongoing summer and how often they struggle to gain access to water and suffer from heatstroke, dehydration, and fever, often causing extensive damage to brain cells and vital organs, leading to seizures, comas, and even death.

Through The Bhumi Foundation, Bhumi plans on installing scores of water bowls in Mumbai to aid animals in need. These bowls will serve as essential sources of hydration for birds and animals struggling to find water and can also be a place where they can cool off too!

Bhumi says, “While we can voice our discomfort during the heat, innocent creatures suffer in silence. I feel it’s important that we understand their plight and take care of the animals and birds around us. Regular access to clean water prevents dehydration, reducing the risk of strokes and other health issues. This simple provision supports their well-being in challenging environments.”

Through this initiative she wishes to urge everyone to add water bowls in their societies or neighbourhoods. Bhumi adds, “It is important that each one of us take responsibility for providing aid to the birds and strays in our areas. If cumulatively we all add water bowls in our societies and neighbourhoods – it will go a long way to help them. It can be a simple DIY container outside your balcony or society gate for birds and animals to get access to them.”

Bhumi, along with her team and some volunteers, will be placing water bowls in her area and will organise volunteers to do so across the city.

Two days back, the announcement video of Scam 2010 – The Subrata Roy Saga was released and it became a big talking point. Hansal Mehta, who directed Scam 1992, will direct Scam 2010. The announcement led to a lot of excitement among the fans of the series. But one person who was left aghast was Sandeep Singh. He has the rights to the life of Subrata Roy. In fact, on his birthday last year, he even announced the biopic Saharasri. Hence, shocked by the announcement of Scam 2010 – The Subrata Roy Saga, he has decided to take legal action against Hansal Mehta, producer Sameer Nair of Applause Entertainment and the streaming giant, Sony LIV.

Speaking exclusively with Bollywood Hungama, Sandeep Singh minced no words as he said, “The director, Hansal Mehta, was a good friend of mine. We worked on Aligarh (2016) together. He has the ability to pick up negative stories because he himself is a negative man. One day, his karma definitely will answer him. His karma is already answering him slowly.”

Sandeep Said then said, “Everybody knew, including Hansal Mehta, that I announced Saharasri last year and that I have been working on this film since 2019. Yet, he has gone ahead and made the announcement. He even made the conclusion that it was a scam, which even the Supreme Court has not concluded so far. I don’t know who gave him the right to do that. It’s a money-making racket which he falls for and I think he definitely wanted to do that through the Scam series. God bless him for that. But neither I nor Sahara India Parivar will take it lying down. We are going to the court. We’ll go against the director, the production house and the channel. We’ll try and stop this show because the official rights of Subrata Roy are with us and my banner, Legend Studios.”

Sandeep Singh then revealed how he managed to bag the rights, “I had met Mr Subrata Roy over lunch, for which he had invited me. I told him, ‘Dada, main khaana khaate waqt aapse ek gift chaha raha hoon. Maine suna hai ki aapke yahaan se koi khaali haath nahin jaata’. He asked me what I wanted from him. I expressed the desire to secure his life rights so that I could make a film or show on him. He did not say anything at first. But after lunch, he offered me mishti doi and said, ‘Yeh lo. Munh meetha karo. If I decide to give my life rights, it’ll be to you’. I asked me, ‘Dada, you know everybody in the industry. And yet, if you want to give me your rights, I’ll be very grateful’. He replied, ‘Yes, and it’s because of your intention. You are not here to make money. You are not here to give out the wrong story. Jo sachhai hai, woh tum dikhaao’.”

Talking about his research, the producer stated, “I met Tihar jail officials, the lawyers, Kapil Dev, Akhilesh Yadav, Virender Sehwag, his friends including the ones in the industry, etc. I recorded what they said about him. We even worked on the casting. Then last year, he passed away. That shook us and things came to a standstill. Then yesterday, when I saw the announcement video, we all were left shocked.”

Sandeep Singh also revealed, “Sameer Nair called me and my director (Sudipto Sen) to his office a few months ago. He gave us the proposal to do Scam’s next season with us since we have the rights to Subrata Roy’s life. We rejected the offer and categorically told him that his is not a scam story. He said, ‘If you are uncomfortable with the proposal, then no worries’. And few months later, they shocked us and cheated us by announcing Scam 2010. But they’ll have an answer from us very soon and we’ll make sure that they step back.”

Did Sandeep Singh call Hansal Mehta or Sameer Nair after he saw Scam 2010’s announcement video? Sandeep Singh retorted, “Did they try to speak to us before putting out the teaser? Our announcement came out last year on his birthday. Yet, why did they do so? The onus of having ethics falls on them, not on me. Hansal Mehta and Sameer Nair have known me for more than 15 years. They should have called and asked, ‘We are going ahead with Scam 2010. Is that okay?’. They knew that the rights were with me.”

Sandeep Singh said he’s saddened by the fact that going by the format of the series, it’ll show Subrata Roy in a negative light. “Hansal Mehta and Applause Entertainment think that they are bigger than the Supreme Court of India. They have concluded that it’s a scam though the Supreme Court has not even concluded that in the last 10 years. The case is still going on. Yet, they made this announcement as they wanted to have publicity and make money. This is where Bollywood fails because we cheat our friends and we tell the wrong story without knowing the facts,” he said.

He signed off by saying, “We have roped in an actor. When the right time comes, we’ll make the announcement. Meanwhile, this cheap publicity needs to be fought with. It’s a tough battle actually. Here was a man who never ran out of India, like other businessmen. Everyone else flew out but he didn’t. He went to the Supreme Court when he was caught. He got jailed and he came out. Everyone knows that he has provided the maximum employment after the Railways in India.”

Producer Prernaa Arora secured a second favourable order from the Bombay High Court for the release of Rs. 50 lakhs deposited by her father in the year 2019. Also amicably as per the order passed by the Hon’ble Bombay High Court on 30th April 2024, the Hon’ble Court directed for the release of this amount to her father. The underlying reason for this Order is the fact that the 5-year-old dispute between Ms Prernaa Arora and Pooja Films was already settled amicably in 2023 and so, the Court ordered for release of this money to its rightful owner.

For the First time Mr. Virender Arora (father of Prerna Arora) who is a Farmer-agriculturist shared his side saying “First and foremost, I extend my deepest gratitude to the Honorable High Court for demonstrating that justice is accessible to every Indian citizen, regardless of their status. Over the past five years, my family has upheld its dignity, choosing silence over retaliation amidst numerous unfounded allegations and considerable speculation. The truth has finally prevailed, marking a triumph of justice.”

He further added, “We are profoundly thankful for this compensation, which acknowledges the time, life, and suffering our family has endured. While no compensation can truly make up for the pain we have experienced, this judgment is a significant acknowledgment of our ordeal. Perhaps, in time, divine providence will offer further solace, but today’s verdict will be remembered as a significant milestone in our legal system.”

He concluded, “I am immensely appreciative of the faith we placed in our legal framework, confident that it would recognize and vindicate our plight. Today, that belief has been vindicated. We Got the justice , and for this, I am thankful to everyone involved.”

Speaking of the professional front, Prernaa Arora is currently involved in two major film projects: the Hindi film Dunk and the Telugu film Hero Heeroine, both set to release in early 2025.

Jr NTR and director Prashanth Neel’s highly anticipated collaboration has secured the title Dragon for its Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam releases. This news comes courtesy of a generous gesture by filmmaker Karan Johar.

Karan Johar held the rights to the title Dragon in Hindi. As per a report by Pinkvilla, a source close to the production said, “It took a simple two-minute conversation with Karan for him to part ways with the title for Neel and NTR.” For the unversed, Dragon was once considered the title for Johar’s own fantasy epic Brahmastra before the project took on its current name.

This untitled project, referred to as NTR 31 for now, marks the first time Jr. NTR and Prashanth Neel will be working together. The film is touted as one of the most anticipated upcoming Telugu films and is being produced by Mythri Movie Makers.  Shooting timelines are still being finalised as Neel is currently committed to directing Salaar 2 starring Prabhas.

Meanwhile, speaking of KJo, he is currently busy promoting Mr & Mrs Mahi, a sports romance produced under Dharma Productions. The film features Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead. The Sharan Sharma directorial is slated to release on May 31.

Aamir Ali recently recalled his success in the television industry. He also said that after he won the third season of the reality dance show Nach Baliye alongside his ex-wife Sanjeeda Shaikh, he was told by the head of the channel that for that one night they were the biggest stars in the country. Following their win, Aamir and Sanjeeda performed at numerous Bollywood award shows, and at one such event they were approached by the iconic filmmaker Yash Chopra.

In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Aamir recalled, “When we won Nach Baliye, I remember Uday Shankar coming to the finale and saying, ‘Tonight, you’re the biggest stars in the country. Just for one night’. And that year, we were called for all the film awards shows. At Star Screen, they made us sit in the front row. I was sure that we’d be asked to move because Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan were sitting next to us, and it would be really insulting.” He further added, “Just as I was thinking about this, Yash Chopra came up to us. He said, ‘Son, Pam is a big fan of your work, she loves you. Can you come and sit with us?’ And I thought that was my ticket to save myself from the embarrassment of being asked to get up. We happily agreed to sit with them. That was the phase… I was getting film offers, but I didn’t want to live in uncertainty like I had for two or three years before.”

The actor looking back at his journey recalled that he had difficulty in shifting from television to streaming as he was perceived as a TV star by the filmmakers. This perception of the filmmakers made it difficult for him to be cast in performance-oriented roles. He looked back on how he played lead roles in eight daily soaps across genres, which after a point gave security of a steady paycheque and made him sceptical about relaunching himself in film industry.

“I couldn’t go for a meeting for Kai Po Chebecause I was too busy. I remember Mukesh Chhabra was casting, he kept calling me and I kept delaying it,” he said, expressing how his biggest mistakes in his career was to not have a meeting with casting directors because he was too focused on television.

Jio believes that it is no feasible to make an expensive action film with Tiger in this market. Of 11 releases, Tiger has delivered a total of 6 flops with 3 back-to-back flops recently. His career is in doldrums with no takers, empty calendar, and no fortune. He has been left empty handed after his box office busts,” shares an insider with Bollywood Hungama.

“After a hattrick of flops, producers have asked Tiger to cut down his fees to single digit numbers. A leading producer recently advised Tiger to reduce his fees by more than 70% and look at charging Rs. 9 crore, as he doesn’t have a market value right now. This took Tiger by shock as he charged Rs. 30 crores each for BMCM and Ganapath,” the insider informed.
