In its second week, Tanhaji:The Unsung Warrior is beginning from where it left at the end of the first week. It brought in Rs. 10.06 crores more, which is an excellent hold when compared to Rs. 11.23 crores which it had accumulated on Thursday. There is hardly any fall and now the total has reached Rs. 128.97 crores.

It is now a given that the Rs. 150 crores mark would be crossed before the close of the second weekend. That would be a terrific feat indeed for the Ajay Devgn starrer which has showed very good trending from the very first day itself. There is just no stopping the Om Raut directed film which is now set for a really huge lifetime total in the final run. There is no competition whatsoever either as the new release Jai Mummy Di has proven to be a non-starter.

Last year Uri: The Surgical Strike had released at the same time and after a relatively lower start, it had enjoyed a lifetime number of Rs. 244.20 crores. Though it is very unlikely that Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior would scale similar heights, it would still be a huge enough feat if the period war drama manages to enter the 200 Crore Club eventually.

The Akshay Kumar – Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Good Newwz that released on the last weekend of 2019 has been virtually unstoppable at the box office. After opening on a good note the business of the film continued to see growth as the days progressed. Now, looking at the total collections of the film, we realize that Good Newwz has managed to cross the Rs. 300 cr. gross mark at the worldwide box office.

Collecting Rs. 234.64 cr. gross from the domestic market and another Rs. 71.43 cr. gross from the overseas markets the total worldwide gross collections of Good Newwz that released across 3800+ screens (3100+ screens domestic + 700 screens overseas) is currently pegged at Rs. 306.07 cr.

Collecting Rs. 118.91 cr, Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior has managed to become the eight highest opening week grosser of 2019. It has been a superb first week for Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior. The film first exceeded expectations on its opening day and then saw very good momentum over the weekend. However, the deal clincher was the film’s performance over the weekdays when it just refused to slow down. Benefitting from partial content in certain pockets of the country and gaining from the good content that had been put together by director Om Raut, the period action drama rose from strength to strength with every passing day and emerged victorious.

This was evident on the Thursday as well when the collections were as huge as Rs. 10.50 crores*. Compared this with first day numbers of Rs. 15.10 crores and there isn’t much of a fall even though this is the seventh day. The film has been accepted in a major way by the audiences and now it is set to roar in the second week too.

For Ajay Devgn, this is one of his biggest successes till date. In fact it would be safe to declare that the film would be next only to Golmaal Again [Rs. 205.70 crores] (if it doesn’t actually surpass it eventually) when it comes to the final score. On the other hand Saif Ali Khan would pretty much be grinning from ear to ear as the film’s success indeed means a lot to him and next up is Jawaani Jaaneman which is looking good too.

So far, the collections stand at Rs. 118.18 crores* and this is an excellent total for a film which came with a very strong Maharashtrian regional flavor and yet found attention across the country. A superhit at the box office, Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior has kick-started 2020 with a bang.

Akshay Kumar, Karan Johar and team could well be bracing up for some major celebrations ahead. Their Good Newwz is now just a few crores away from entering the 200 Crore Club, what with Rs. 195 crores* already been accumulated after three weeks. The film had done fantastic business in the first week and then followed it up well in the second week as well. However, in the third week, it did slow down as first and foremost the target (multiplex) audience was accepted and then Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior also took away many screens and also audience base.

Nonetheless, the film is still a very huge success and with Rs. 200 Crore Club carrying a very good ring to it, that milestone is also not far away. With no new competition in the current week, the Raj Mehta directed film manage to retain some screens for itself and that should allow at least Rs. 5 crores more to be added before the fourth week begins. With that the Rs. 200 crores mark to be breached and once that happens, the blockbuster tag would come calling as well.

One now awaits the arrival of the film on the satellite and digital circuits. While it is a given that on the digital medium the film will do extraordinarily well over again, it would be interesting to see how its taboo subject is accepted by the family audiences once it premiers on satellite.
