Earlier in the month, the FWICE (Federation of Western Indian Cine Employees) suggested the name of its Chief Advisor Ashoke Pandit for the candidature of Member of Parliament (MP) in the upcoming General Elections in letters addressed to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Now, IMPPA (Indian Motion Pictures Producers’ Association) and IFTDA (Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association) have also done the same in letters written to Shinde and Fadnavis respectively.

In its letter, IMPPA highlighted Pandit’s contribution not only towards the film fraternity but also the public at large during the COVID-19 pandemic in terms of relief work and the arranging of free vaccines. It also mentioned about his efforts for the upliftment of the Kashmiri Pandits. “His activism has been crucial to raise awareness of Kashmiri Pandit’s sufferings and he is still a well-known representative of the community fighting for their rehabilitation, justice and the preservation of their cultural legacy,” said an excerpt from the letter. Along with this, the letter also spoke about Pandit’s efforts for the cause of environment.

IFTDA, on the other hand, spoke about the divine intervention in choosing Pandit for the social work aimed at the betterment of mankind. “He has the knack of making his point crystal clear with the power of his oratory which is God given and the skill of turning the odds and skipping all the hurdles. Mr. Ashoke Pandit has been blessed by the Almighty to be very intelligent who solves the knotty problems in a jiffy. A person with his own will of serving the humanity, sharing the problems of his people and society has always touched the ground and applauded the Divine Power for lifting him such qualities, which are basically needed for an inspiring leader,” said an excerpt from the letter.

IFTDA’s letter also spoke about Pandit’s efforts in rehabilitating the Kashmiri Pandits. The letter ended with, “In this context, Indian Film & Television Directors’ Association with its folded hands recommend the name of Hon. President, Mr. Ashoke Pandit for representing Mumbai’s North West Constituency. He is educated, excellent orator, intelligent, socially known in every nook and corner of the Constituency which he will represent and become the Messiah of the people of his Constituency. Mr. Ashoke Pandit had always remained the apple of late Shri Balasaheb Thackeray’s eye during his lifetime.”

On Thursday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) attached properties worth Rs 97.79 crore belonging to businessman Raj Kundra under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002. The attached properties include flats in Mumbai and Pune registered under the name of actor Shilpa Shetty, Raj’s wife.

Post this incident, Raj Kundra took to Instagram stories on Thursday night, sharing an image of a roaring lion with text that read: “Learning to stay calm when you feel disrespected is a different type of growth.” Meanwhile, Shilpa Shetty has yet to publicly comment on the recent ED action.

Responding to the ED’s attachment of properties, Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty’s legal counsel, Prashant Patil, released a statement via ANI. The statement reiterated the couple’s commitment to following legal procedures and taking necessary steps under the PMLA to protect their assets and freedom. 

Mr. Patil argued that “there is no prima facie case made out against” his clients. He expressed faith in the judiciary and the investigation process, believing “justice will be served” upon presenting their case to the ED. The statement further promised full cooperation with authorities.

The ED’s investigation stems from multiple FIRs filed by Maharashtra and Delhi Police concerning a Bitcoin Ponzi scheme. The alleged scam involved soliciting significant public funds through promises of high returns on Bitcoin investments. Investigators believe the scheme’s operators concealed these ill-gotten gains in anonymous online wallets.

The ED alleges that Raj Kundra received 285 Bitcoins from the scam’s mastermind, Amit Bhardwaj, for establishing a Bitcoin mining farm in Ukraine. These Bitcoins were reportedly acquired through illegal means from investors. Though the mining farm deal never materialised, Kundra is allegedly still in possession of these Bitcoins, with a current value exceeding Rs 150 crore.

Reportedly, several arrests have been made in connection with the scam, and some individuals are currently under judicial custody. However, the main perpetrators remain at large. This case marks a continuation of the ED’s investigation, with previously attached properties valued at ₹69 crore. Further investigation is underway.

Amar Singh Chamkila, fondly known as the ‘Elvis of Punjab,’ continues to captivate hearts with his timeless melodies, despite his life being abruptly cut short at the age of 27. He and his wife Amarjot Kaur were gunned down by unknown men near Jalandhar in 1988.

In a candid interview with Cine Punjabi, Gurmail Kaur, Amar Singh Chamkila’s first wife, unveiled the hardships she endured following his untimely demise. She also recalled meeting Chamkila and Amarjot Kaur two days prior their death and she confessed to an unsettling sensation she experienced.

Upon asking about Chamkila she said, “I was so proud of him. He was so famous, I had nothing to worry about,” she also mentioned despite getting married to Amarjot, he took full responsibility of her and their kids. She also talked about her financial struggle after Chamkila’s death “It was a very difficult time in my life,” she revealed and added that she used to work as a daily wage worker and got Rs. 5 per day.

Amar Singh’s life and death have been in talk since release of his biopic and through that, the legacy of Chamkila will continue to live with us. Despite the passage of time, Gurmail Kaur’s heartfelt recollections offer a glimpse into the enduring bond between her and Chamkila, transcending the boundaries of tragedy.

Divyanka Tripathi, who is currently busy shooting for his highly-ambitious show Adrishyam revolving around undercover agents, is expected to have suffered an accident. Her husband and actor Vivek Dahiya, who was expected to host a live session with his fans on social media, cancelled the same due to the same. His team informed the fans who were eager to catch up with the actor on social media regarding the incident along with a note expressing their apology.

Although details of the accident were not shared, it was being said that Vivek is currently in the hospital, besides his wife, taking care of her. The popular television couple’s publicist took to their personal social media handle to share this note which read, “We’re sorry to announce that Vivek’s live session scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed till further notice. Divyanka had an accident a few hours back and is now under medical care. Vivek is with her as she recovers. We thank you for your understanding and support. And join us in wishing Divyanka a speedy recovery. Vivek is eager to connect with all of you soon.”

Meanwhile, concerned fans have been expressing concern on the post. Earlier this month, Divyanka too had taken to the platfom to share about her treatment for her ligament injury.
