Salman Khan fans, rejoice! Though the superstar didn’t have a release for Eid this year, he announced his next big project, titled Sikandar, to make up for it. This action entertainer marks Khan’s first collaboration with director AR Murugadoss, and filming is set to begin in May. Murugadoss is currently directing an action film, tentatively called SK23, starring Tamil star Sivakarthikeyan. This project is scheduled to continue until June. To ensure a smooth shooting schedule for Sikandar, Murugadoss will be juggling both films for the next two months.

“Before Sikandar goes on floors, Murugadoss wants to wrap up as much of SK23 as possible,” an insider revealed, as per a report in Mid-day. “He will shoot the first schedule of Sikandar in May and then return to finish Sivakarthikeyan’s movie in June. From July onwards, he will be completely dedicated to the Salman Khan starrer.”

With an Eid 2025 release target, the team is working diligently to meet the deadline despite the director’s busy schedule. “To avoid any delays, Murugadoss has assembled a dedicated team to help him finish SK23 quickly,” the source added.

Sikandar marks Murugadoss’s return to Hindi cinema after an eight-year hiatus following Akira (2016). This project reunites Khan with producer Sajid Nadiadwala, the duo behind blockbuster hits like Kick, Judwaa, and Mujhse Shaadi Karogi.

The title Sikandar itself has sparked a wave of excitement and curiosity among audiences. Fans are eager to witness the magic that unfolds on screen with this dream team collaboration. Eid 2025 is about to get a whole lot more thrilling!

It’s all happening in the Hindi Film Trade as some of the top Pan India Films have been acquired by two market leaders – AA Films & Pen Marudhar – for hefty prices, bringing some life to the film industry. The biggest theatrical deal goes in the name of Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2. According to industry estimates, Anil Thadani has acquired Pushpa 2 for a sum of Rs. 200 crores for North India.

The second best is the Prabhas and Deepika Padukone film, Kalki. The theatrical rights of the sci-fi saga have been sold to Anil Thadani for Rs. 100 crores, making it the 2nd biggest of the lot. The film is gearing up to release by the end of May.

Third on the list is Ram Charan and Shankar’s Game Changer. According to industry experts, Game Changer has been sold to Anil Thadani for Rs. 75 crore in North India. It’s the biggest for Ram Charan to date and the film is expected to reap high dividends to the stakeholders given the reasonable value.

Next in line is NTR’s Devara, which has been sold to Anil Thadani again for a sum of Rs. 45 crores. Being a rural film of coastal Andhra with a lesser-known director, this is also a very good amount, a lot higher than many actors from Hindi. And finally the last in line is the Kamal Haasan led Indian 2.

The Shankar directorial can prove to be a jackpot for Pen Marudhar as the film has been acquired by them for a sum of Rs. 20 crores only. Being a sequel to a cult film, this can easily change the tides and emerge as a big money spinner.

All said and done, a lot is riding on these Pan India Films and the eyes are on them to set the box office on fire.

Shahid Kapoor starrer Kabir Singh which is also a remake of the Telugu film Arjun Reddy, received a lot of love for its music and romance. However, along with the appreciation also came criticism where the character of Shahid was accused of misogyny and chauvinistic attitude. Also, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga was slammed by many for promoting abusive behaviour. Recently, when Bollywood actor Adil Hussain, who also played a small but pivotal role in the film, was asked about his association with it, he expressed that he is embarrassed about being a part of the film.

Adil Hussain had opened up about his short cameo of sorts in Kabir Singh during the AP Podcast on YouTube, wherein he said he even tried to use excuses to get out of the film and even charged a large sum which the production house agreed to pay. At the interview, he said, “The only film I regret doing is Kabir Singh. I was in the middle of doing something and they wanted one day from me but I said ‘I can’t’. I told my manager to ask them for a lot of money and I thought they would say no. But they agreed. So I did the scene and it was good. So I thought the film will be good too.” He went on to add, “I think a film like this celebrates something which is not beneficial for society. It legitimises male misogyny. It legitimises violence against anybody, for that matter, doesn’t have to be a woman. And it celebrates it, it glorifies it, and it should not be glorified.”

Followed by his statement, a rather upset Sandeep Reddy Vanga took to X, formerly known as twitter, to share a clip from the video and wrote, “Ur ‘belief’ in 30 art films didn’t get as much fame to u as ur ‘regret’ of 1 BLOCKBUSTER film did. I regret casting u, knwing that ur greed is bigger than ur passion. NOW I’ll save U from the shame by replacing Ur face with AI help?? Now smile properly”.

Reacting to his post, Adil was quoted saying to ETimes, “I’m in the US right now and haven’t seen Sandeep’s post. Neither do I intend to. What I said (about Kabir Singh) was in an interview, and not on social media. I was completely shocked when I saw the film and I regret doing it. I will not change my stand.”

For the unversed, Adil Hussain played the role of Kabir’s medical college dean in Kabir Singh which also starred Kiara Advani as the leading lady along with Arjan Bajwa, Nikita Dutta, Kamini Kaushal, among others in key roles.

While the investigation about the shooting incident outside the residence of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan continues, the crime branch has dispatched four teams to New Delhi, Bihar, Gujarat, and Rajasthan for further inquiry. Earlier reports claimed that in attack which involved bike riders firing at Galaxy Apartments in Bandra, two arrests have been made. And now the latest update is that further investigations have revealed the incident to be connected with Anmol Bishnoi, brother of Lawrence Bishnoi.

According to reports, sources have revealed that Anmol Bishnoi was in touch with two people named Sagar Pal and Vicky Gupta through internet calls where they were allegedly received promised a lumpsum, that included an advance payment of Rs 1 lakh followed by an additional Rs 3 lakhs upon completion of the task. During the investigation, the suspects activated their phones to continue their communication with Bishnoi which caught the attention of the police. Authorities are now focused on tracing the people involved in supplying the weapon used in the incident.

A police officer opened up about the attack and was quoted saying to the news agency PTI, “The accused conducted a ‘recce’ of Salman Khan’s farmhouse in Panvel. They intended to just scare him, not murder him. The statements of both families have been recorded in Bihar. Around 7 people have been called from Haryana and other states for questioning, which is ongoing.”

A circular has been issued against Anmol Bishnoi, who gained attention after claiming responsibility for the shooting outside Salman Khan’s residence via a Facebook post. While he is reportedly residing in Canada, the accused Sagar Pal and Vicky Gupta, fled Mumbai for Bhuj shortly after the incident. Despite their attempts to evade police and avoid detection by frequently changing their SIM cards during their journey, technical surveillance revealed their consistent communication pattern. This resulted in the arrest of the two on Sunday.

Alia Bhatt starrer Jigra is one of the highly-anticipated films of the year, since it will also feature the actress as a solo lead after Gangubai Kathiawadi. The film will also feature Vedang Raina for the first time with Bhatt. While the film is a rescue drama focusing on the intense love between siblings, it is now being said that Alia had to undergo sports training for her role. In fact, recent reports suggest that Alia had to undergo basketball training for the Vasan Bala directorial.

In a recent report published by Etimes, a source has revealed that Alia Bhatt has undergone extensive coaching to understand the game of basketball which also includes training under some of the best players in the city. The source has stated that Alia and Vasan wanted the basketball portions to look authentic because it has a major connection with the storyline of the film.

In fact, we hear that Alia even went on to put in extra hours to understand the game and its rules. She also spent time learning basic movements which are a key part of the game which includes dribble, double dribble, how to pass and dunk the ball in the basket, among other things. In fact, the makers even are said to have gone to the extent of hiring a special basketball coach who was present on the sets to choreograph the portions related to the game.

Produced by Alia Bhatt herself under her banner Eternal Sunshine Productions, in association with Dharma Productions, Jigra will mark the second film of Vedang Raina after The Archies. The film is scheduled to release on September 27.

Apart from Jigra, Alia also has a host of big projects which includes Love & War, starring her husband Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal which is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Along with that, she also has the YRF spyverse action-thriller with Sharvari Wagh, and of course Jee Le Zaraa with Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

The incident of gun fire outside Salman Khan’s house left everyone, including his fans, family and industry friends, concerned. Following the incident, Shilpa Shetty visited Salman today at his residence with her mother.

Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty have been there for each other through their difficult times. In the midst of their personal crises with the Enforcement Directorate (ED), she was seen visiting his residence. On Thursday, ED attached Shipa and her husband Raj Kundra’s bungalow and flat, along with equity shares worth approximately Rs. 98 crores in connection with a money-laundering investigation related to the suspected crypto assets Ponzi scheme.

For those who came in late, last week, two people on a bike opened fire at Galaxy Apartments, raising security fears for Salman and his family. Following this, the Kutch Police detained two individuals as suspects in the case and turned them over to the Mumbai Crime Branch for further investigation. Following a medical test, Mumbai’s Killa Court remanded the two suspects, named as Vicky Gupta (24) and Sagar Pal (21) from Bihar, in the custody of the Mumbai Crime Branch till April 25.

On the work front, Shilpa was last seen in Sukhee. It showed her as a housewife seeking self-discovery through an escape. Meanwhile, Salman’s absence at the box office was felt by his fans during this Eid. However, he didn’t disappoint them and revealed that his next film Sikandar is slated for release on next Eid.

Shilpa and Salman have shared the screen space in films like Auzaar (1997), Garv: Pride and Honour (2004), Phir Milenge (2004), and Shaadi Karke Phas Gaya Yaar (2006).

In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Zareen Khan talked about her comparisons with other actresses, journey in the film industry so far and a lot more. She also shared her experience of working with Salman Khan in her debut film Veer and then starring in Housefull 2. She also opened about the negativity she received for being a part of Hate Story 3. She also shared how she reacted to casting couch offers.

On asking upon how did get into films, she said, “Film was just destiny, it was God’s plan”. She added that as a kid when she used to look at actresses, she used to think how perfect they were and on the other hand, she didn’t know anything about fashion and makeup.

She also opened about media and audiences comparing her with Katrina Kaif even before her first film Veer got released. She said, “Comparisons are not good for your career, which I realized later.” Adding on it she continued “Finally after so many years, people now know me by name.”

The twin debacles of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Maidaan have left the industry in deep shock. The exhibitors are worried since there is no big release in the second half of April and the whole of May. However, it seems like the month of May can turn out to be a surprise. If all goes well, the John Abraham-Manushi Chhillar starrer Tehran might make it to cinemas next month.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The team of the film is considering releasing Tehran in May. A final decision will be taken in a few days after which the official announcement will be made.”

Tehran was originally scheduled to be released in cinemas on January 26, 2023. Later, it was pushed to April 26.

An industry insider commented, “As of now, there are only two significant Hindi film releases in May – the Rajkummar Rao starrer Srikanth on May 10 and Manoj Bajpayee’s action entertainer, Bhaiyya Ji on May 24. If Tehran takes up the May 17 slot, it can prove beneficial to the makers as it’ll be a solo release. The aforementioned films are of different genres and won’t pose a competition. Last year, the same producer, Maddock Films, ended the dry period in Bollywood with Zara Hatke Zara Bachke. With Tehran, they might repeat history.”

Tehran is directed by Arun Gopalan and produced by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films and Sandeep Leyzell and Shobhna Yadav of Bake My Cake Films. It is inspired by true events and also stars Madhurima Tuli as John Abraham’s wife. The geopolitical thriller was shot in 2022 across Glasgow, Mumbai and Delhi.

After wrapping up the project, Manushi Chhillar said, “Shooting for Tehran was an enriching experience. I learnt something new every day. In the run-up to the film’s wrap, I was only shooting nights. So, I might have ended up with 15 sleepless nights, but I was satiated as an artist because I got to understand the craft so differently.”
