South Korean actor Kim Min Gue is headed for his next project High Priest Rembrary (literal translation), adapted from a web novel.

According to Korean tabloid Soompi, adapted from web novel Holy Idol that also turned into a webtoon series, the fantasy romance drama revolves around high priest Rembrary who possesses the body of an unknown idol Woo Yeon Woo. Kim Min Kyu will take the lead role of Rembrary. He’s a high priest from another world who came to this world to fight the demon king. However, when he comes to his senses, he woke up in the body of a handsome idol.

On the work front, Kim Min Gue, who debuted in 2013 in the tvN drama Monster, gained recognition for his roles in dramas like Queen: Love and War, Backstreet Rookie, Snowdrop and most recently Business Proposal. High Priest Rembrary is scheduled to air in the first half of 2023.

Oscar-winning film Parasite’s director Bong Joon Ho has assembled an all-star cast Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette, Mark Ruffalo and Robert Pattinson for his next sci-fi feature based on the novel Mickey7 by Edward Ashton, at Warner Bros.

Bong Joon Ho will reportedly write, direct and produce for his production company Offscreen, alongside Kate Street Picture Company’s Dooho Choi and Plan B’s Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner, as part of the latter’s overall deal with Warner Bros. The film reteams Bong and Choi with Brad Pitt’s Plan B following their successful collaboration on the director’s 2017 film Okja.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mickey7 is described as Andy Wier’s The Martian meets Blake Crouch’s Dark Matter. It centers on Mickey7, a man on an expedition to colonize the ice world Niflheim. This expendable employee takes jobs too risky for anyone else, and when he dies, he regenerates as a clone with most of his memories intact. When Mickey7 is presumed dead, he returns to the mission’s base only to see that a new clone, Mickey8, has taken his place. The book is published by St. Martin, an imprint of Macmillan.

The as-yet-untitled project is also Bong’s first since his 2019 Oscar best picture and Cannes Palme d’Or winning dark comedy film Parasite. Other credits for the critically acclaimed filmmaker include Memories of Murder, the monster film The Host, the science fiction action film Snowpiercer and Okja among others. Bong Joon Ho is currently working on a Parasite series for HBO from Warner Bros. Discovery, with Choi, Adam McKay, and Kevin Messick serving as executive producers.

Meanwhile, Naomi Ackie is set to star as Whitney Houston in the upcoming biopic I Wanna Dance with Somebody. Toni Collette is currently seen on the small screen in HBO’s miniseries The Staircase and will also appear in the upcoming films The Estate and Mafia Mamma.

Mark Ruffalo is set to reprise his role as Bruce Banner in Marvel’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Robert Pattinson, known for portraying Edward Cullen in The Twilight Saga film series, is coming off of hits like Christopher Nolan’s Tenet and Matt Reeves’ The Batman.

Benedict Cumberbatch has been tapped in to lead director Paul Greengrass’ upcoming period drama The Hood.

According to Deadline, written and directed by Paul Greengrass, the period drama is about the peasant revolt in England. Benedict Cumberbatch will play a farmer who becomes the leader in an action drama. CAA Media Finance and FilmNation are selling the upcoming feature. Tyler Thompson’s Cross Creek is financing and producing. Thompson and Greggory Goodman are producing. Cross Creek is also producing Melody, the Jeremy Zag-directed animated musical that will star Katy Perry and is being sold here in the Cannes Market.

The Hood will be Greengrass’ first film since his last release News of the World in 2020 starring Tom Hanks. Other film credits include The Bourne Ultimatum, Captain Phillips, and United 93 for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Director.

Moreover, Cumberbatch is coming off his Best Actor-nominated performance in Power of the Dog. The Oscar nominated actor will next appear in Netflix’s Wes Anderson-directed film adaptation of The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar as well as in the sci-fi drama film Morning alongside Laura Dern.

Salman Khan has kicked off the shoot of his next film. After releasing Antim – The Final Truth last year and wrapping up Tiger 3, the actor will star in Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali. The film stars him alongside Pooja Hegde, Venkatesh, and Shehnaaz Gill and is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. With Aayush Sharma and Zaheer Iqbal exiting the project, the actor has now brought three actors on board.

As per the report in an outlet, Salman Khan and Farhad Samji were on the lookout for the actors and have found Jassie Gill, Siddharth Nigam, and Raghav Juyal to play his three brothers in the film. The shoot has begun today. Jassie and Siddharth came on board last week and their look tests were done last week. The film has begun in Mumbai and following this, the shoot will be moved to Hyderabad.

Produced by Salman Khan Films, Salman Khan earlier roped in Devi Sri Prasad for Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali. The music composer has been a rage in the South industry with back-to-back hits. The actor and composer previously collaborated on the ‘Dhinka Chika‘ song in the 2011 film, Ready. In 2020, Devi Sri Prasad composed the Hindi version of the ‘Seeti Maar’ song picturised on Salman Khan and Disha Patani in Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai. It’s become a norm now to bring multiple composers on board to create a hit album, Devi Sri Prasad will be one of them to bring some original tunes to life in Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali.

Furthermore, it was reported that Anal Arasu will be choreographing the action scenes; Brahmastra cinematographer V Manikanda is on board as well. Since the film is a cross-cultural love story, actors from North and South will be part of the cast including veteran actor Venkatesh.

Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali will release on December 30, 2022, a few days after Salman Khan’s birthday and welcoming New Year.

As curtains recently dropped on iconic storyteller & filmmaker Satyajit Ray’s centennial celebrations, Jio Studios in association with Purpose Entertainment and Quest Films has announced the launch of Hindi motion picture The Storyteller on the legend’s short story hailed as the Original among all Originals – Golpo Bolo Tarini Khuro. The Storyteller helmed by National Award-winning director, Ananth Narayan Mahadevan is a captive narrative based on Ray’s story about originality. Headlined by a stellar cast including Paresh Rawal, Adil Hussain, Revathi, and Tannishtha Chatterjee, the original Bengali short story Golpo Boliye Tarini Khuro is one among the series of stories written by Ray based on the enigmatic character Tarini Khuro, that he created.

With commemorations marking the cinematic legend’s centenary year, including a tribute at the 75th Cannes Film Festival, the makers of The Storyteller released a first look on the rare and historic story that was personal to the Master. In this story about originality vs plagiarism, Ray was raising a larger question: “What is more important – the story or the storyteller?”

Sharing his thoughts on the renowned auteur and the film adaptation of the short story, director Ananth Narayan Mahadevan said, “As part of the celebrations around the life and work of the legend, we are very happy and honoured to share our own humble homage to the master storyteller. The Storyteller, a timeless fable, explores the mindset of people who exploit and are exploited. Ray’s subtle treatment of the subject makes one smile at what is, in fact, a revenge story. An amalgamation of wit, drama, and even suspense, the film is an attempt to bring Ray to a generation that has only heard about him or been occasionally exposed to his collection.

An original Ray story with a curious and compelling history, reiterating a powerful message on originality, The Storyteller, releasing soon is poised to evoke fresh nostalgia in his legion of fans. Watch this space for updates!

Hawkeye star Jeremy Runner is set to play the role of acclaimed reporter David Armstrong, who helped expose the Sackler family’s links to the US opioid epidemic.

As noted by The Hollywood Reporter, in a series of articles based on secret emailed and documents, Armstrong helped reveal how the Sackler family had been involved in the aggressive marketing of Purdue’s painkiller OxyContin, which contributed to the national opioid epidemic that has killed more than 450,000 Americans over the past two decades. He exposed how Purdue co-chairman and President Richard Sackler backed a company plan to mislead doctors about the strength of the drug.

The as-yet-untitled biopic, which Yorn is producing alongside 101 Studios, is being written and directed by award-winning filmmakers Aron Gaudet and Gita Pullapilly, who are introducing it to buyers in Cannes. This marks the second time the Sackler family’s downfall has been adapted to the screen, with the first being the 2021 Disney+ limited series Dopesick.

Meanwhile, Renner was recently spotted at Delhi Airport. According to reports, Renner’s India visit is related to his upcoming project Rennervations which is said to be a renovation-based reality series. Renner is best known for his performance as Hawkeye in Marvel Studio features including The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: End Game, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity and more.
