T-Series and Reliance Entertainment joined hands with Match Cut Productions in making this dark humour laced satire titled, Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga. The film is inspired by true events. Writer & Director of this film, Srijit Mukherji, has brought forth an insightful story about the adverse effects of urbanization, man-animal conflict, and poverty leading to a bizarre practice in a village that resides on the edge of a forest.

Srijit Mukherji, winner of multiple National Awards, has directed critically acclaimed films like Autograph (2010), Jaatishwar (2014), Chotushkone (2015), Rajkahini (2015), Ek Je Chilo Raja (2019) in the Bengali language among others. Sherdil – The Pilibhit Saga will be his second Hindi film after the 2017 period drama, Begum Jaan.

Not only has Srijit’s films won acclaim at Indian Film Festivals, but have also travelled to prominent International film festivals like Palm Springs International Film Festival in California, Abu Dhabi International Film Festival, MIAAC Film Festival in New York, Glasgow International Film Festival, London Indian Film Festival among others.

This being Srijit Mukherji’s dream project, he says, “I am glad to re-unite with Reliance Entertainment to make ‘Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga’. I got inspired by the real incident of tragic practises in villages bordering the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve and I knew I had to capture it in my next. It takes great courage to sacrifice one’s life to save the family and my film revolves around this heroism with a focus on man & nature conflict. This subject is really close to my heart and I hope it will ignite the same emotions with the audiences regarding various social issues in our society.”

Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga is presented by Gulshan Kumar, T-Series Film and Reliance Entertainment, produced by Bhushan Kumar and Reliance Entertainment, and production by Match Cut Productions Private Limited. The film stars Pankaj Tripathi, Neeraj Kabi, and Sayani Gupta and is directed by Srijit Mukherji.

The film will hit the big screens on 24th June, 2022.

Yash Raj Films partnered with Twitter to celebrate Ranveer Singh’s upcoming comedy Jayeshbhai Jordaar. On May 11, the actor brought his jordaar personality exclusively to Twitter and took over the Twitter Movies (@TwitterMovies) account to engage with his fans worldwide. He became the first Bollywood celebrity to do so, joining the likes of Robert Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz, Tom Holland, Nicholas Cage and award-winning cast of Dune to name a few.

During the takeover, Ranveer responded to fan questions submitted using the hashtag #AskRanveer, delighting his Indian as well as international fans on the service. The account’s header image also switched to a Jayeshbhai Jordaar-themed avatar.

Twitter has even introduced a custom emoji , which fans can activate by Tweeting with the hashtags #JayeshbhaiJordaar, #Jayeshbhai and #Jordaar.

Talking about the takeover, Ranveer Singh said, “My love affair with the movies is fueled by the passion of my fans – they’re the secret of my energy. Jayeshbhai Jordaar marks the Bollywood debut of Arjun Reddy fame Shalini Pandey who plays the role of Ranveer Singh’s wife. The film, that also stars Boman Irani, Ratna Pathak Shah, is a satirical take on female infanticide and the importance of boy child in Indian families. It is slated to release on May 13, 2022.

Ranveer Singh is gearing up for the release of his film Jayeshbhai Jordaar on May 13. The film directed by debutant Divyang Thakkar also stars Shalini Pandey, Boman Irani, and Ratna Pathak Shah among others. Earlier it was reported that the film will have a run time of 2 hours and 4 minutes making it the shortest Bollywood film in recent times. However, now the revised run time of the film has made it shorter by 2 minutes.

According to the revised run time of the film, the first half of Jayeshbhai Jordaar will be of 54 minutes and 52 seconds while the second half will be 1 hour and 6 minutes long, bringing the total runtime to 2 hours 01 minutes 48 seconds.

The theatrical trailer of Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Anek and Akshay Kumar starrer Prithviraj has been attached to the print of Jayeshbhai Jordaar. While Anek will be released in theaters on May 27, Prithviraj will hit the theatres on June 3.

Meanwhile, ahead of its release, Jayeshbhai Jordaar had landed in legal trouble after an NGO called Youth Against Crime moved the Delhi High Court over the depiction of a prenatal sex-determination scene in the film’s trailer. The Hon’ble Delhi High Court on Wednesday disposed off the Public Interest litigation that sought deletion of a scene from the film. The petition was disposed off without allowing the Petitioner’s prayer for the deletion of the said scene, in terms of Yash Raj Films’ statement to insert an appropriate disclaimer at the relevant portions of the scene that was the subject matter of the trailer and the Petition. Accordingly, Jayeshbhai Jordaar will be released without any removal/cuts on the 13th of May, as scheduled.

WandaVision star Elizabeth Olsen, who returned as the witchy Wanda in recently released Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, addressed the criticism going through Marvel films.

The Marvel superhero, who has worked in six MCU films thus far, including Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, WandaVision and most recently Doctor strange sequel, revealed that she didn’t think she would make it this far. “I only signed on to do a couple movies, so it continues to be a surprise when they want to use me for more projects,” she said in an interview with The Independent. “I’ve been confused by how lucky I got with them wanting to make WandaVision.”

“When we were doing press for WandaVision, I was mortified because it was the first show from the Marvel universe,” she added. “There was this total fear, and now I have this pressure all over again connecting to Doctor Strange. I just didn’t have it as part of those ensemble films.” Olsen admits that this even extends to viewing the end product. “I’ll see it eventually,” she said. Addressing Martin Scorsese’s critique comments on Marvel who stated in October 2019 that he saw the Marvel films as “theme parks” rather than cinema, while The Godfather director Francis Ford Coppola described them as “prototypes made over and over and over again to look different”, Olsen expressed her views by saying it’s when people “make them seem like a lesser type of art” that she gets frustrated.

Olsen believes these critiques take away from the people who bring these films to life. “I’m not saying we’re making indie art films, but I just think it takes away from our crew, which bugs me,” she said. “These are some of the most amazing set designers, costume designers, camera operators – I feel diminishing them with that kind of criticism takes away from all the people who do award-winning films that also work on these projects. From an actor’s point of view, whatever, I get it; I totally understand that there’s a different kind of performance that’s happening. But I do think throwing Marvel under the bus takes away from the hundreds of very talented crew people. That’s where I get a little feisty about that.”

Elizabeth Olsen is currently seen as Wanda Maximoff in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Lily James, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Himesh Patel are on board to star in the murder mystery comedy Providence for Limelight and Boies Schiller Entertainment.

According to Deadline’s report, the story follows the eclectic residents of a small, picturesque island town who must navigate a sensational murder and the discovery of a million dollars as a series of increasingly bad decisions upends the once-peaceful community. Principal photography begins this week in North Carolina. Sellers, Parker, Houchins, Schiller and Boies are attached to produce, with Vukadinovich, Tyler Zacharia, Sam Slater, Phil Keefe and Dane Eckerle executive producing. CJ Barbato will co-produce. Verve Ventures and UTA are co-repping the sale of the project.

Lily James is fresh off the success of her Hulu hit Pam & Tommy, in which she portrays Pamela Anderson. She also starred in several high-profile films like Cinderella, Mama Mia! Here We Go Again, Baby Driver, Downton Abbey.

Gordon-Levitt is best known for his performances in 500 Days of Summer and 50/50 for which he also earned Golden Globe Award nominations. The two-time Emmy winner is fresh out of Apple TV+’s Mr. Corman and Showtime anthology series Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber. He will next work in Peacock series Poker Face from Rian Johnson and will voice Jiminy Cricket in Disney’s live-action adaptation of Pinocchio.

Meanwhile, Himesh Patel rose to international recognition after playing the main role in a musical comedy Yesterday, and his other credits include Station Eleven, EastEnders, and most recently Tenet and Don’t Look Up.
