Oscar nominated actress Jessie Buckley and Oscar winner Riz Ahmed are all set to join Fingernails, an English feature film from Apples director Christos Nikou.

According to Deadline, FilmNation is launching sales on the hot package at the Cannes market next week and is co-repping U.S. rights with CAA Media Finance and WME Independent. Nikou has scripted his new project with Sam Steiner and Apples co-writer Stavros Raptis. Cate Blanchett’s Dirty Films is producing alongside Arrival outfit FilmNation Entertainment, which is also financing. Jerome Duboz will serve as executive producer. Carey Mulligan was previously attached to the project but is no longer aboard.

“In the world of surreal drama, described as a “grounded sci-fi love story,” a test has been discovered that measures whether couples are truly in love. To help couples succeed, love institutes have opened to guide them. Anna (Buckley) is skeptical of the positive result she’s received with her longtime partner, so she starts working in a love institute as an assistant to Trevor (Ahmed), a mysterious, dedicated instructor.” At the moment, a release date has not yet been seen for the film.

On the work front, Jessie Buckley will star in Alex Garland and A24’s Cannes-bound Men; in Plan B and MGM’s Women Talking and in Rebecca Lenkiewicz’s directorial debut Hot Milk.

Meanwhile, Riz Ahmed is the recipient of various accolades including an Academy Award and Primetime Emmy Award. For his performance in Amazon’s Sound of Metal, he was nominated for a Best Actor Academy Award, BAFTA, and SAG Award and won the Gotham Award and Indie Spirit Award. He previously won an Emmy for HBO’s The Night Of. He won the 2022 Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film for The Long Goodbye.

Ethan James Green. Newly announced as Louis Vuitton’s latest House Ambassador, esteemed Indian actress, producer, philanthropist, and entrepreneur, Deepika Padukone, stars in her first leather goods campaign for the Maison.

Readers may be aware that politician Pandit Sukh Ram, who is also the grandfather of Aayush Sharma, was admitted to the hospital last week. The 95-year-old politician’s health deteriorated further and now reports suggest that the grandfather of the actor has passed away.

Reports have it that Aayush Sharma’s grandfather was airlifted to Delhi last weekend after his health started deteriorating after allegedly suffering a brain stroke. A day ago, rumours of his demise started doing the rounds on the internet but Aayush took to the media to quash these rumours.

In fact, the Antim actor also took to Instagram to update everyone about his grandfather’s health. He posted a long note saying, “My Grandfather Pandit Sukh Ram is a strong soul and fighting back bravely. To all the reports and rumours, in this testing time for our entire family, I kindly request everyone to pray for his well-being and refrain from the media from paying heed to any false news. We would keep you updated and informed about his health at every step. Heartfelt gratitude for all the prayers.”

Ranveer Singh, who is known for his candour, in a recent interview, has made some hearty confessions about his favourites and his films. While speaking about the same, the actor spoke about a particular scene in Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela where he engaged in a passionate lip-lock with Deepika Padukone, which did not break even after a brick was thrown into the room.

Speaking about it in an interview with Film Companion, Ranveer Singh explained that there are times when you can’t immediately switch off from the scene. He added that in such cases the word ‘cut’ often leaves you disturbed because you are engrossed at that moment. Mentioning a particular scene that became quite popular from the film, where Ram and Leela share a passionate lip-lock on the bed, Ranveer stated that even a flying brick failed to interrupt their kiss.

For those who don’t remember, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela features a scene right after Ram and Leela elope to get married. They share a passionate scene when they are on the bed in the same hotel room. During the scene, a brick comes flying into their room, which shatters the window glass and disrupts the surroundings. According to Ranveer, during one of those takes, the brick had already shattered the glass and it is supposed to have interrupted their kiss. But despite that, the two of them continued kissing. The actor went on to add that is when filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali also realized the feelings the two actors had for each other.

Although before marriage neither Ranveer Singh nor Deepika Padukone spoke about their relationship status, after their wedding in 2018, the Simmba actor revealed that they had started dating on the sets of Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela. The film, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is an Indian take on Romeo and Juliet set against the Gujarati rival gang backdrop. The film turned out to be one of the biggest hits of 2013.

On the other hand, Ranveer Singh is currently promoting Yash Raj Films’ Jayeshbhai Jordaar. The film, which also marks the Bollywood debut of Shalini Pandey, is expected to release on May 13, 2022.

In September last year, the makers of Ek Villain Returns announced that the film will be released in theatres on July 8. The date was decided after theatres reopened in Maharashtra last year post the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. On Tuesday, the makers announced a new release date for the film. The film will now hit the theatres on July 29.

Releasing 8 years after the first installment of the franchise, the multi-starer film has some high-octane action pieces along with major twists in its plot, and much like its predecessor, the music of the film is one of the most anticipated albums of the year.

Earlier while talking about the film, director Mohit Suri said, “Ek Villain Returns is my dream project. It has been an incredible journey since day one and all of us had a great time. As we wrap the shoot, I cannot wait to begin the next phase of the production and have the audience watch the final product. I had the best time working the entire cast, and the same has been reflected on screen.”

Directed by Mohit Suri, the film stars John Abraham, Disha Patani, Arjun Kapoor, and Tara Sutaria. The film had gone on floors last year. While the first schedule was shot extensively across multiple locations in Mumbai, the second schedule happened in Goa.

Ek Villain Returns is jointly produced by T-Series & Balaji Telefilms. It is the sequel to the 2014 film that starred Shraddha Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra, and Riteish Deshmukh.
