Ezra Miller won’t be cut from Dalíland amid several controversies; director says, “Nothing bad happened during our filming”

Dalíland director Mary Harron has reportedly shared that controversial actor Ezra Miller’s scenes have remained in the film even after the news of controversies due to their violent, erratic, and unlawful behavior in recent times.

Daliland, which features Ezra Miller in a small supporting role as a young Salvador Dalí and Ben Kingsley as an adult Dalí, is officially slated to be the closing night film at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Ahead of the film’s premiere at TIFF, the director commented on Miller’s role in the Salvador Dalí biopic and confirmed that Miller’s scenes were not cut from the film.

“The film was completely finished and wrapped,” Harron said, per Variety. “It might have been different, especially if we were shooting, if there had been bad behavior during that. But this all happened after the film was not only filmed, but edited and mixed and done. I also felt like everybody shot all those things in good faith. Nothing bad happened during our filming, and the film is the film.”

Harron continued, “I’m not condoning anything they’ve done wrong. I think it doesn’t matter how talented someone is, if they’ve done anything wrong, they have to face it. I also think that clearly this is not just a young star acting out. This is much more serious. This seems like something that needs a serious intervention, which I hope has happened.”

“They turned in a completely realized performance,” Harron said of Miller’s work in her new film. “They were very professional and nice to everybody. There was no trouble or a sign of trouble on set. So it was very upsetting and terrible to read what happened later. Reading this stuff was very sad—very sad for everybody involved. Hopefully they are getting help for what sounds like a very, very serious break.”

As report. notes, Ezra Miller was recently cited in Vermont with felony burglary. The actor made headlines in 2020 after a recording surfaced in which they appeared to be choking a woman outside of a bar in Iceland. No charges were filed. The actor was also arrested twice in Hawaii this year, once for disorderly conduct and harassment.

After numerous allegations of assault, abuse, and felony burglary, Miller finally spoke out revealing their plans to seek mental health treatment after acknowledging their erratic behavior in the recent years. “Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,” the Justice League star told Variety in a statement. “I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.”

Game of Thrones veteran Miguel Sapochnik has decided to step down as co-showrunner of the Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon ahead of its season 2.

Game of Thrones director Miguel Sapochnik quits House of Dragon as co-showrunner ahead of Season 2

According to Entertainment Weekly, Miguel Sapochnik, who came aboard the freshman fantasy drama at HBO as co-showrunner, has now surprisingly left his post, leaving House of the Dragon co-creator Ryan Condal as the sole showrunner. Sapochnik was renowned for directing some of the most beloved episodes of Game of Thrones, including “Hardhome” and “Battle of the Bastards.”

The GoT veteran also helmed three episodes of House of the Dragon, including the record-setting series premiere. The report suggests that Sapochnik needed a break after working so many years on the Thrones franchise. He will remain a part of HOTD as an executive producer.

“Working within the Thrones universe for the past few years has been an honor and a privilege, especially spending the last two with the amazing cast and crew of House of the Dragon,” Sapochnik said in a statement. “I am so proud of what we accomplished with Season 1 and overjoyed by the enthusiastic reaction of our viewers. It was incredibly tough to decide to move on, but I know that it is the right choice for me, personally and professionally.”

“As I do so, though, I am deeply comforted to know that Alan will be joining the series,” he continued. “He’s someone I’ve known and respected for a long time, and I believe this precious series could not be in safer hands. I am so glad to remain a part of the HBO and House of the Dragon family and, of course, I wish Ryan and his team success and all the best with season 2 and beyond.”

As Sapochnik leaves, the spot is filled by another Thrones veteran, Emmy winner Alan Taylor, who directed seven Thrones episodes, will join House of the Dragon as executive producer and director for few episodes in Season 2. “It’s a pleasure and an honor to be back at HBO, immersing myself in the world of the Targaryens, I look forward to working closely with Ryan as House of the Dragon grows into its second season,” said Taylor.

“Ryan, Miguel, and George [R. R. Martin] have launched an extraordinary story, in a rich and fascinating world. Returning to Westeros will be a huge undertaking and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

House of the Dragon debuted earlier this month and racked nearly 10 million viewers, becoming HBO’s most watched series premiere ever, and even saw its audience increase in Week 2. HBO renewed it for a second season shortly after the premiere. The series airs on Disney+ Hotstar in India.

Ben Kingsley to reprise his Trevor Slattery role from Iron Man 3 in Marvel’s Wonder Man series

Hollywood actor Ben Kingsley is reportedly reprising his Shang-Chi and Iron Man 3 role of Trevor Slattery in the upcoming Wonder Man series from Marvel Studios at Disney+.

Ben Kingsley to reprise his Trevor Slattery role from Iron Man 3 in Marvel's Wonder Man series

According to Variety, Kingsley returning as Slattery lends credence to reports that the show is intended to be a Hollywood satire, as it has been established that Slattery is a failed actor and Wonder Man has been an actor and a stuntman in the comics. Sources say the actor will play a major role in the series.

The Wonder Man series, which focuses on the Marvel character Simon Williams, aka Wonder Man, was first announced to be in the works back in June of this year with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest teaming up to bring the project to life. Guest will serve as head writer on the Wonder Man show while Cretton will executive produce and possibly direct on the series in addition to serving as co-creator with Guest.

Ben Kingsley made his MCU debut as Trevor Slattery in Iron Man 3, an actor posing as the villainous Mandarin. More recently, Kingsley reprised his role in Shang-Chi, directed by Cretton, which saw him tag along Shang-Chi and his friends who help him escape and he in turn helps them defeat Wenwu during the final battle.
