Shibasish Sarkar was unanimously elected as the Producers Guild of India (“Guild”) at the first meeting of its newly constituted Guild Council of Management which was held immediately after the 68th Annual General Meeting on 21st September 2022.

Welcoming the President-elect, President Siddharth Roy Kapur, said, “It has been a pleasure and an honour serving the production fraternity and I am delighted to pass the baton on to the able hands of Shibasish. I am sure he will do a stellar job and add further lustre to the Guild’s reputation of spearheading the industry’s interests.”

President-elect Shibasish Sarkar said, “In his six years as Guild President, Siddharth has been a tireless, passionate and committed champion for our industry at a time of unprecedented challenges. I look forward to building on what he has accomplished and working alongside my colleagues to help address the challenges and build on the opportunities we have before us as an industry”.

The Guild’s leadership team for 2022-2023 includes President Shibasish Sarkar, Vice Presidents Manish Goswami, Apoorva Mehta, Sunjoy Waddhwa, Madhu Bhojwani, and Ambika Khurana and Treasurers Ashim Samanta, and Fazila Allana.

Shibasish Sarkar is a Media & Entertainment Industry professional with over 29 years of corporate experience in handling multiple verticals across films, television, animation, gaming content and operations of digital & new media platforms. Currently, Shibasish is the Chairman & CEO of International Media Acquisition Corp. His last stint was as Group CEO at Reliance Entertainment, a part of the Reliance ADA group. Shibasish was a member of the senior leadership team and served in the capacity of Director & Member of The Board within various group companies. Prior to Reliance, Shibasish held senior positions at Viacom 18, UTV Disney & Godrej Sara Lee with a focus on establishing a new business, scaling up operations, and driving sustainable growth by forming key alliances, managing stakeholders, talent partners & cross-functional teams. His academic qualifications include being a certified Chartered Accountant, Cost Accountant, Company Secretary and MBA with specialization in marketing.

Celebrated comedian-actor Raju Srivastava died on Wednesday after being hospitalised for more than 40 days in Delhi. As soon as the news broke, from netizens to Bollywood stars, everyone took to their respective social media handle and mourned his death. Meanwhile, a comment by AIB fame comic Rohan Joshi triggered fans of the late comedian. Though Rohan has deleted the comment now, he continues to receive backlash for his insensitive remark.

For the unversed, popular stand-up comedian Atul Khatri, on September 21, took to his social media handle and paid expressed his grief over Srivastava’s death. While the post featured a portrait of Raju, the caption read, “You were such an inspiration to so many. Whenever you went on stage you lit it up. Your presence was such that when people just saw you there was an automatic smile on their faces. You will be truly missed / A big loss for the Indian Stand-up Comedy scene”.

Rohan was among the first ones to react to the post. In the comments section Joshi, by his social media presence as mojorojo, wrote, “We haven’t lost a thing. Whether it was Karma whether it was the roast or any coming in the news. Raju Srivastava took every opportunity he ever got to shit on new comics, especially after the new wave of stand up started. He went on every fukkall news channel every time he was invited to go shit on an upcoming art form and call it offensive just because he couldn’t understand it and new stars were rising. He might have told a few good jokes but he understood nothing about the spirit of comedy or defending someone’s right to say something even if you don’t agree. F**k him and good”.

Soon after he posted the comment, some social media users criticised him. After being called out by netizens, Rohan deleted the comment and while replying to an Instagram user, wrote, “Yehi soch kar delete kiya kyuki after a minute of anger I realised today is not about my personal feelings. Sorry if it hurt and thanks for the perspective.” Though the comment is not visible now, Instagram users continue to lecture the young comedian-writer.

T-Series, Wakaoo Films & Mudassar Aziz’s Double XL is finally out with their teaser. The slice-of-life, comedy-drama, directed by Satramm Ramani, questions bodyweight stereotypes that have long been plaguing our society, in the most humorous manner. The makers also announced the release date of the film. It is all set to hit theatre screens on the 14th of October 2022.

Shot extensively in India and the UK, Double XL explores a journey into the hearts of two plus-size women, one from heartland Uttar Pradesh and the other from the urban New Delhi, as they navigate through a society that’s often attributed beauty or attraction to a woman’s size.

Here to reveal that their “gorgeousness” has been unknown to the world in so many more ways than one in Double XL, Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Qureshi underwent a massive body transformation and had even piled on the extra pounds for their roles in the film, also starring Zaheer Iqbal, Mahat Raghavendra and a talented ensemble star cast.

The film is presented by Gulshan Kumar, T-Series, Wakaoo Films & Mudassar Aziz in association with T-Series Films. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s wife Gauri Khan remains protective of her personal life. Though their lives are quite glamorous, they continue to keep family life as private as possible. With Aryan Khan’s arrest last year in the cruise ship drugs bust case, Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan’s lives became the talk of the nation with Aryan spending almost a month in jail before he received bail. Though no evidence was found against him, it was a turbulent time in their lives, as Gauri Khan stated on the latest episode of Koffee With Karan 7. After 17 years, she returned to the Karan Johar-hosted show along with her good friends Maheep Kapoor and Bhavana Pandey. During the episode, she opened up about Aryan Khan’s arrest.

“It has been such a tough ride for him (Shah Rukh Khan) not just professionally but everything that the family has been through personally, and you all have emerged so strongly as a family. I know you as a mother and him as a father, we are members of the same family and I feel like I am your children’s godparent as well. It hasn’t been easy, and Gauri, you have emerged stronger than ever. What do you have to say about your own handling tough times when families go through something like this?” Karan Johar asked.

“As a family, we have been through — nothing can be worse than what we have just been through, as a mother, as a parent. But today, where we all stand as a family, I can say that we are in a great space where we feel loved by everyone. All our friends, and so many people who we didn’t know, so many messages and so much love. We feel blessed. I am grateful to everyone who helped us through this,” Gauri replied.

On the work front, Gauri Khan is currently hosting a new show called Dream Homes. In this six-episode series, Gauri will give extravagant transformation to the houses of Manish Malhotra, Farah Khan, Katrina Kaif, Kabir Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Malaika Arora. South Korean actors Kim Tae Ri, Oh Jung Se and Hong Kyung have been roped to star in writer Kim Eun Hee’s upcoming mystery thriller The Demon, which is a working title. The news was confirmed on Wednesday, September 21.

As per the Korean media portal Soompi, The Demon is “an occult mystery thriller in which a woman possessed by an evil spirit and a man who can see those evil spirits inside human bodies dig into the mysterious deaths surrounding five divine objects.”

For the show, Kim Tae Ri will essay the role of Goo San Young, prepping for the 9th-grade civil service exams. She studies at night for an important exam while doing a part-time job. Her life starts to turn upside down after mysterious deaths take place around her following the passing of her father. With this, her life changes.

Oh Jung Se takes on the role of professor Yeom Hae Sang who hails from a wealthy family. He also is gifted in terms of seeing spirits and getting to know Goo San Young. Through this, he also encounters the demon who killed his mother in front of him when he was a child.

Lastly, Hong Kyung will be playing the role of police officer Lee Hong Sae, who works in the violent crimes unit and graduated from the police academy with great scores. He gets embroiled in unrealistic events after meeting Goo San Young and Yeom Hae Sang.

As per Soompi, the production team said, “Goo San Young is a complicated character who is a mix of both good and evil. We couldn’t help but think of Kim Tae Ri for the role as she has the kindest eyes but also exudes intense charisma from time to time. Above all, we expect that Kim Tae Ri’s profound and bold acting skills will spice up this project.”

The plan is to take the project on floors soon with the aim to air in 2023.
