Adah Sharma reveals she was ‘punished for getting laughing fits’ for no reason during school days

From top sports personalities to Bollywood actors, the occasion of Teacher’s Day 2022 was special to all. While many shared posts to share warm wishes, others remembered their teachers. Among many others was actor Adah Sharma, who walked the memory lane and shared some lesser-known incidents from her school life.

In an interview with Mid-Day on Teacher’s Day 2022, Adah Sharma revealed that she got punished by her teachers ‘mostly for getting laughing fits for no reason’. When asked who her favourite teacher was, the actress replied, “My paati (grandmother) has always been my favourite teacher. She is a headmistress in a school and also teaches History and Geography. Since I would study (at) the last minute, she would summarise the whole chapter for me the day before the exam!”

As the conversation progressed further, the 1920 actor was asked if there was any punishment in school that you will remember for the rest of your life. In the response, she asserted, “we had to wear ribbons to school on our plaits and if we didn’t, we would get a remark in the school calendar book. I got this huge one-meter ribbon”.

The Commando 3 actor continued and added, “Whoever used to forget to wear the ribbons, I would cut from that one-meter-long ribbon and would give them. When the teachers found out, they made me wear ‘sutli’ (rope) on my head as a punishment for a week! That became a fashion statement then and everyone started wearing rope on their braids”.

On the professional front, the 30-year-old actor will be next seen in Padaav, a Vishal Pandya directorial. Sharma will be seen playing a cop in the upcoming film.

Vikram Vedha director Pushkar says, ‘We’d ponder over many takeaways their tales had’

Bollywood is all set to offer a wide range of films to the audience. Among many upcoming projects, Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan’s Vikram Vedha is also keeping the audience on the edge of their seat. While the teaser has received a roaring positive response, ahead of the trailer launch, the makers of the film briefly talked about the upcoming neo-noir thriller.

In a conversation with Mid-Day, the director duo Pushkar and Gayatri shared some back story of creating Vikram Vedha. Speaking on the same, Pushkar said, “the core of Vikram Vedha’s story is inspired by the famous folklore. As children, we both grew up listening to the stories of Vikram and Betaal, and every time, we would ponder over the many takeaways their tales had.”

On the other hand, Gayatri further elaborated, “the film’s treatment draws references from these legends, where every time the two characters face off, they are at crossroads. We were fascinated with the dynamics shared by Vikram and Betaal. So, when we started writing the story, we adapted that nostalgia into these characters.”

Interestingly, a source has told, “The trailer of Vikram Vedha will be shown before Brahmastra in cinemas. The trailer will not be attached to the prints of the superhero film. The theatres have been asked to play the trailer just before Brahmastra starts. The exhibitors have agreed to this request as they know that Vikram Vedha looks like a potential hit”, told Bollywood Hungama.

Vikram Vedha is a remake of a Tamil-language film, which was released in 2017. The original film featured R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupati as Vikram and Vedha respectively.

Don’t Worry Darling gets a 5-minute standing ovation at Venice Film Festival as Florence Pugh avoids Olivia Wilde; Harry Styles plants a kiss on co-star Nick Kroll

Hollywood actress Olivia Wilde’s highly-publicized thriller Don’t Worry Darling made its global debut at the Venice Film Festival on Monday receiving a spirited 5-minute standing ovation following the premiere.

Don’t Worry Darling gets a 5-minute standing ovation at Venice Film Festival as Florence Pugh avoids Olivia Wilde; Harry Styles plants a kiss on co-star Nick Kroll

According to Variety, the film’s stars kept their distance during the ovation, “almost as if they weren’t even in the same film together.” As reported earlier, Florence Pugh had skipped the press conference for the film earlier in the day. When the audience at Venice erupted into a 4-minute standing ovation for the film, a teary-eyed Pugh turned away from her director, as she instead faced (and danced with) her co-star Nick Kroll. Moreover, during the ovation, Harry Styles and Kroll quickly kissed on the lips.

For the last few weeks, Don’t Worry Darling has seen countless headlines in its name, thanks to the relationship between Styles and his director Olivia Wilde, rumors of a rift between Wilde and her lead star Pugh and Shia LaBeouf’s controversial early exit from the cast. Per the report, the audience clapped during one of the more climatic scenes and the ovation would probably have gone on longer if Pugh hadn’t made her way for the exit about three minutes into the clapping, prompting the rest of the cast to follow her.

Besides Styles and Pugh, the stellar cast for the psychological thriller also includes Chris Pine, director Olivia Wilde, Gemma Chan, KiKi Layne and Nick Kroll. Katie Silberman wrote the screenplay from a spec script by Carey and Shane Van Dyke. Don’t Worry Darling is Wilde’s follow-up feature to 2019’s coming-of-age comedy Booksmart.

Don’t Worry Darling opens in theaters on September 23.

Colin Farrell gets a sensational 13-minute standing ovation at Venice Film Festival 2022 for The Banshees of Inisherin

Hollywood actor Colin Farrell received a thunderous 13-minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival premiere of The Banshees of Inisherin, a film by Oscar winning director Martin McDonagh.

According to Variety, “this is the longest and loudest reception for any film to debut on the Lido this season, at least based on the ever so slightly unscientific applause meter. McDonagh and stars Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson and Kerry Condon hugged each other throughout the ovation and walked down from the mezzanine to the orchestra.”

“The film tells the off-beat story of two best buddies (Farrell and Gleeson) who abruptly end their friendship, a dissolution that has a seismic impact on the rural community in which they live.” The 46-year-old Irish actor reunites with Brendan Gleeson and McDonagh in the forthcoming drama.

The drama is produced by McDonagh, Graham Broadbent, and Peter Czernin.
