Excitement is in the air as the IIFA Rocks 2023 is around the corner. And, as per the latest buzz,  the talented Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao will be serving as a co-host. The actor, known for his versatile performances and effortless charm, is set to add a new spark to the glamorous evening.

Rajkummar Rao’s presence as a host is sure to bring a fresh perspective and energy to the IIFA Rocks 2023. The actor, who has won accolades for his performances in films like Stree, Newton and Omerta, has always been appreciated for his wit and sense of humour.

Nushrratt Bharuccha and Kartik Aaryan have proven to be one of the successful on-screen pairs. The duo has been praised for their natural and effortless chemistry, which was evident in the Pyaar Ka Punchnama franchise and Akaash Vani. Fans are eagerly awaiting the return of their chemistry on the big screen. While their reunion is awaited, the duo has multiple upcoming projects in their kitty. In fact, Nushrratt is lately making headlines for her forthcoming flick Chatrapathi, co-starring Sreenivas Bellamkonda.  

As Nushrratt and Sreenivas have started promoting the film, the duo also gave an exclusive interview to Bollywood Hungama where they extensively spoke about the film. Besides that, the Chatrapathi duo also participated in a fun rapid-fire round, where Nushrratt talked about her co-stars, including Kartik Aaryan. In addition, she also shared a trick to annoy Kartik.  

During the rapid-fire round, the Pyaar Ka Punchnama actress was asked to name the easiest way to annoy her co-stars. When asked about Akshay Kumar, Nush immediately said, “To be late because he is always on time.” The next star on the list was Ayushmann Khurrana, who shared the screen with her in Dream Girl. In her response, she asserted, “Not laugh at his jokes, I think. He is a funny person. He cracks really funny jokes. When you don’t laugh, he’ll be like okay I’ve lost my mojo and nobody’s laughing.” 

Then came the Shehzada star. In a quick reply, Nushrratt said, “Give him a reply to his monologue.” For the unversed, both films in the PKP series feature a monologue by Kartik. His iconic monologue moments have not only been loved by the audience but also earned him the nickname ‘The monologue king.’ 

Coming back to Chatrapathi, it is directed by VV Vinayak and has been mounted on a massive scale and shot extensively on grand sets in Hyderabad. The film is a Hindi remake of SS Rajamouli’s 2005 release of the same name with Prabhas in the lead. It is scheduled to release on May 12.

Prime Video has announced the global release of its upcoming anthology series Modern Love Chennai. The show will start streaming on the platform from May 18 in India and more than 200 countries. This is the third Indian adaptation of Modern Love, the internationally acclaimed original anthology helmed by John Carney, following Modern Love Mumbai and Modern Love Hyderabad. Produced under the banner of Tyler Durden and Kino Fist, with Thiagarajan Kumararaja as the creator, the six-episode anthology presents a bouquet of compelling and unique love stories set in the city of Chennai that explore relationships, push boundaries, and open minds.

Aparna Purohit, head of India Originals, Prime Video said, “After the successful launch of Modern Love Mumbai and Modern Love Hyderabad, we are excited to bring the third Indian edition of the well-acclaimed international franchise, Modern Love, to our service. At Prime Video, we are constantly working towards bringing locally rooted stories that have a universal appeal.”

She further added, “Modern Love Chennai celebrates and explores love in all its beauty, joy, and glory, hand-in-hand with the intricacies and complexities that go with the emotion. It has been wonderful collaborating with Thiagarajan Kumararaja and all the other wonderful directors to tell these heart-warming stories that explore the city’s culture and nuances.”

Produced under the banner of Tyler Durden And Kino Fist, Modern Love Chennai brings together six brilliant creators of Indian cinema—Bharathiraja, Balaji Sakthivel, Rajumurugan, Krishnakumar Ramakumar, Akshay Sundher, and Thiagarajan Kumararaja. Music composers for the series include Maestro Ilaiyaraaja, Yuvan Shankar Raja, G. V. Prakash Kumar, and Sean Roldan, with songs written by Maestro Ilaiyaraaja, Yugabharathi, and Bakkiyam Sankar.

Set against the backdrop of India’s independence, Gadar was a love story that wooed the hearts of many. Director Anil Sharma is now back with the sequel of the film titled Gadar 2. Starring Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma, the film was slated to release around Independence Day (August 11) owing to its patriotic theme. But with a recent shift in release dates of several Bollywood films, including the highly-anticipated Jawan, we wonder if there is a change in date for the release of Gadar 2 too but filmmaker Anil Sharma has put an end to these speculations.

In an interview with Pinkvilla, Anil Sharma asserted, “Gadar 2 is a people’s film and is people’s emotion, so we are coming on August 11 because people want it. It’s not a film, it’s an emotion. So, we are not shifting at all. We are busy with post-production and are preparing for August 11. We don’t know which other movie is coming on that day. Jo aa rahi hai usko aane dijiye, agar koi aati hai toh (Whoever wants to come, can come). August 11 release is confirmed for us.”

The upcoming Gadar 2 is expected to continue the story of Tara Singh and his wife Sakeena as they are now parents to an adult Jeete. Interestingly, the role of their son is once again essayed by Utkarsh Sharma, who played the same role in the prequel, over two decades ago. The film has already gone on floors and in fact, some of the videos and photos from the sets of the film also went viral on social media.

Produced by Anil Sharma in association with Zee Studios, Gadar 2 will be clashing with the release of Ranbir Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna starrer Animal on August 11.

On May 8, Abundantia Entertainment and Prime Video has announced the worldwide theatrical release date of their much-awaited, murder mystery, Neeyat. The intriguing whodunnit, featuring Vidya Balan in the lead, has locked the release date on July 7, 2023. Neeyat boasts of an enviable ensemble cast featuring Ram Kapoor, Rahul Bose, Neeraj Kabi, Amrita Puri, Shahana Goswami, Niki Walia, Dipannita Sharma, Shashank Arora, Prajakta Koli, Danesh Razvi, Ishika Mehra and Madhav Deval in pivotal roles. The producers released a teaser poster of the movie that gives the audiences their first sneak peek, into the world of this suspense drama.

Neeyat is directed by Anu Menon who last directed Vidya Balan in the 2020 superhit ‘Shakuntala Devi’, based on the life and times of the lady known as the human computer. Anu Menon’s recent directing credits also include multiple episodes of the internationally acclaimed series ‘Killing Eve’. The film narrates a gripping suspense story of an unlikely detective (Vidya Balan) who investigates mysterious murders at a billionaire’s party where nothing is what it seems and all suspects hide a secret or two.

Produced by the Vikram Malhotra-led Abundantia Entertainment, that also produced Shakuntala Devi, and co-produced by Prime Video, Neeyat has been written by Anu Menon, Priya Venkataraman, Advaita Kala and Girvani Dhyani with dialogues by Kausar Munir.

Neeyat marks Vidya Balan’s return to theatres after her three releases on digital that premiered on Prime Video – Shakuntala Devi (2020), Sherni (2021) and Jalsa (2022). Neeyat also reunites the team of Shakuntala Devi -Abundantia Entertainment, Anu Menon, Vidya Balan and Prime Video. This also marks the second theatrical co-production for both Abundantia Entertainment and Prime Video. The film will release across the world on July 7, 2023.
