Prime Video, India’s most loved entertainment destination, today unveiled the trailer of the upcoming crime-drama series Dahaad. The series is created by Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar and is directed by Kagti along with Ruchika Oberoi. Produced by Excel Media & Entertainment and Tiger Baby, with Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Reema Kagti, and Zoya Akhtar as executive producers, Dahaad features Sonakshi Sinha, Vijay Varma, Gulshan Devaiah, and Sohum Shah in pivotal roles. Prime members across 240+ countries and territories will be able to stream the series starting May 12. 

Dahaad’s riveting trailer unveils the fierce tension at the local police station where Anjali Bhaati, played by Sonakshi Sinha and her colleagues are on the lookout for an unsuspecting serial killer on the loose. What begins as a series of mysterious disappearances set off an investigative hunt as they race against time, piecing together clues before another innocent woman loses her life.

“Dahaad has a compelling narrative and finely detailed characters.  It is remarkably well-written and impeccably executed. The exceptional performance by the cast makes the tension in the show palpable and dynamic ensuring that our viewers are absorbed till the very end. Working with this cast and crew has been incredible and I am excited to be bringing this series to audiences across the world with Prime Video,” said Sonakshi Sinha.

Anand is a simple teacher, a family man who spends his weekends teaching underprivileged kids. But there is more to him than meets the eye, and that is where the mystery lies,” he added further.

Raj Kapoor, the legendary Indian actor, producer, and director, is considered one of the greatest showmen in the history of Hindi cinema. He went on to become a leading actor and director, creating some of the most iconic films in Indian cinema such as Bobby, Shree 420 and Awara, among others. Lately, the yesteryear star has been in the headlines as a petition seeking ownership over legendary actor Raj Kapoor’s Haveli in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was filed. In the latest development, the Peshawar High Court has dismissed a petition, according to PTI.

In 2016, the provincial government declared the Haveli, once owned by the family of Raj Kapoor, a national heritage site. Recently, a bench of judges consisting of Ishtiaq Ibrahim and Abdul Shakoor dismissed a case related to the acquisition process of the Haveli. The judges referred to a previous judgement made in a similar case related to the Dilip Kumar Haveli, another historic property located in Peshawar’s Qissa Khwani Bazaar and declared a national heritage site by the federal government.

In court, the Additional Advocate General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province acknowledged that the Kapoor Haveli was acknowledged as a national heritage site in 2016 by the provincial archaeology department. Despite this confirmation, Justice Shakoor expressed skepticism about the department’s claim and requested evidence to support the Kapoor family’s ownership or residency in the Haveli.

The petitioner, Saeed Muhammad, countered by asserting that his father had successfully bid for the mansion in 1969 and had retained full ownership until the provincial government initiated an acquisition process. Furthermore, he argued that there was no evidence indicating that the Kapoor family had ever possessed or resided in the property.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu seems to be making waves, ever since her number ‘O Antava’ in the Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa: The Rise went viral; the actress has been steadily making headlines. In fact, apart from films, Samantha has been trending for her OTT project Citadel as well as her constant updates on Instagram. Continuing the same we hear that Samantha has already commenced discussion for her next venture. If what we hear is true, then Samantha has been in discussion with actress-turned-producer Anushka Sharma for a new venture.

“Samantha and Anushka have been having regular meetings and discussions for a new project. The venture in question will be a strong women-centric project that will feature Samantha as the central protagonist”, revealed a source to Bollywood Hungama. Further talking exclusively to Bollywood Hungama the source continues, “The yet-to-be-titled venture will be backed by Anushka’s brother Karnesh Sharma. However, it is still unclear whether the project will be a proper feature film, or a web series.”

Though currently, more details on the rest of the cast are unavailable, the source reveals that the project will be fleshed out further once Samantha and Anushka have reached a decision. Currently, on the work front, Anushka Sharma has wrapped shooting for her sports biopic Chakda Xpress, which is based on Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami, while Samantha is working on the Amazon Prime Video series Citadel with Varun Dhawan.

Actor-comedian Abhilash Thapliyal has been making waves in the OTT world in recent years. His performance in TVF’s web series Aspirants as the character Shwetketu aka SK was highly appreciated by audiences. In fact, post the success of Aspirants, he also led a spin-off series for his character, titled SK Sir Ki Class. Recently, in an interaction with Bollywood Hungama, Abhilash opened up about the same and recalled being sceptical and scared.

Abhilash asserted, “I come from a lower-middle-class family. We have a lot of self-doubt in us. We are not confident, and it was the same with SK Sir Ki Class. When we were shooting for Aspirants, I was very sceptical about my part because a lot of actors in the series were from the TVF universe. They all were known faces.”

The actor-and-comedian further explained, “When I became a part of it, my first thought was negative only. I asked myself what if the audience won’t accept me? We never think otherwise. Given that Aspirants was a hit, I was sceptical. I thought, “What if the audience won’t be able to understand SK Sir’s universe?”

Thapliyal continued, “But I was pleasantly surprised that people started comparing it with Aspirants. They gave us the same love. I was just lucky that my character SK Sir turned out to be the first TVF character to have a spin-off.”

As Abhilash has been featured in a bunch of films as well, we asked him to explain how the process of prep is different for a film and a web show. In his response, he said, “I don’t think there is a process. In fact, I feel if I was doing TV, I would have worked in a similar way. You can’t differentiate the prep for a film and an OTT project. As an actor, you want to tell a story, and do justice to your character, no matter what platform it is being made for. He concluded by saying, “I think it (differentiating between the platform) will corrupt the effort of an actor if they perform while thinking about the platform it will be released on.”

On the professional front, he will be next seen in Kennedy. The Anurag Kashyap directorial will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival this year before its release. It stars Sunny Leone and Rahul Bhat in the lead.
