EXCLUSIVE: Sikandar makers voluntarily cut 14.28 minutes of the film after getting censor certificate; Salman Khan singing ‘Ajeeb Dastaan Hai Yeh’ trimmed by 11 seconds (DETAILS INSIDE)

Yesterday, Bollywood Hungama exclusively reported that the Salman Khan-starrer Sikandar has been passed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a UA 13+ certificate on March 21. As per the censor certificate, the run time was 150.08 minutes, that is, 2 hours 30 minutes and 8 seconds. But we also informed readers that as per certain exhibition sources, the final length of the film is 2 hours 15 minutes and 46 seconds.

Bollywood Hungama has now learned that the makers of Sikandar approached the CBFC after obtaining the certificate. This is because they shortened the duration of several scenes throughout the film. As per the rules, the CBFC needs to be informed if any addition or deletion takes place in a film after the issuing of certificate. Hence, the CBFC was approached and they approved the film with the additional voluntary cuts.

As per the voluntary cut list, the trimming has taken place in 26 scenes. 4 of these scenes are more than 1-minute long. A scene with the dialogue ‘Offer aukat ke bahar tha’ was trimmed. A 2 minute 26 second scene with the dialogue ‘Chaar miss call…chalo Rajkot’, a 1 minute 12 second scene with the dialogue ‘Usse leke aata hoon’ and a 4-minute scene with the dialogue ‘Aa gaye aa gaye…bad husband’ were deleted completely by the makers.

The rest of the scenes cut are less than 60 seconds long. The scene of Sanjay (Salman Khan) singing ‘Ajeeb Dastaan Hai Yeh’ has been trimmed by 11 seconds. A sequence with the dialogue ‘Aate rahenge ab toh’ was 56 seconds long was deleted. The scene of Holi shots and the dialogue ‘Yeh sirf sample tha’ was reduced by 40 seconds.

In all, 14 minute and 28 seconds of the film was axed by the makers. As for additions, 7 seconds of Sanjay’s reaction shots were included.

After these changes, the final run time of Sikandar is now 135.47 minutes, that is, 2 hours 15 minutes and 47 seconds. The CBFC approved these changes on Monday, March 24. The film is all set to release in cinemas on March 30.

Hansal Mehta backs Kunal Kamra, recalls being assaulted by Shiv Sena workers

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta has come out in support of stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra, who recently faced vandalism at a Mumbai comedy club by Shiv Sena members. Taking to X aka Twitter, Mehta recounted the traumatic incident that took place during the release of his 2000 film Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar.

Mehta took to the social media platform to share his own harrowing experience from over two decades ago, when he was assaulted and publicly humiliated by loyalists of the same political party.  He revealed how his office was stormed, vandalised, and he was physically assaulted by members of the then-undivided Shiv Sena over a single line of dialogue in his film.

“What happened with Kamra is, sadly, not new to Maharashtra. I’ve lived through it myself. Twenty-five years ago, loyalists of the same (then undivided) political party stormed into my office. They vandalised it, physically assaulted me, blackened my face, and forced me to apologise publicly—by falling at the feet of an elderly woman—for a single line of dialogue in my film. The line was harmless, almost trivial. The film had already been cleared by the Censor Board with 27 other cuts. But that didn’t matter,” Mehta wrote.

Describing the gravity of the situation, Mehta recalled being forced into a public apology in front of a massive crowd, with political leaders and the Mumbai Police standing in silent observation. The humiliation left a lasting impact on him, not just physically but also emotionally and creatively. “At the so-called ‘apology’ venue, at least 20 political figures arrived in full strength to oversee what can only be described as a public shaming—with 10,000 onlookers and the Mumbai Police watching in silence. That incident didn’t just bruise my body. It bruised my spirit. It blunted my filmmaking, muted my courage, and silenced parts of me that took years to reclaim,” he shared.

Emphasizing the need for a more civil approach to disagreements, Mehta stated, “No matter how deep the disagreement, no matter how sharp the provocation—violence, intimidation, and humiliation can never be justified. We owe ourselves, and each other, better. We owe ourselves dialogue, dissent, and dignity.”

What happened with Kamra is, sadly, not new to Maharashtra. I’ve lived through it myself.

— Hansal Mehta (@mehtahansal) March 24, 2025

His statement comes in the wake of the recent attack on Kunal Kamra, where members of the Shiv Sena vandalized the Habitat Comedy Club in Mumbai following a political satire by the comedian. While Kamra’s remarks were aimed at political shifts within Maharashtra, the violent reaction from party workers has sparked debates on freedom of speech and artistic expression. By drawing parallels between his own experience and Kamra’s, Hansal Mehta has reignited discussions about the intimidation tactics used against dissenting voices in the state.

EXCLUSIVE: Aditya Dhar reveals how Raat Baaki with Fawad Khan-Katrina Kaif became Dhoom Dhaam

Dhoom Dhaam (2025), which was released on February 14 on Netflix, has received acclaim from all quarters. Backed by Aditya Dhar and directed by Rishab Seth, it is the story of a couple who are forced to be on the run on their wedding night. The story is intriguing and industry sources soon realized that it has an uncanny resemblance with Raat Baaki. It was supposed to be made way back in 2016 with Fawad Khan and Katrina Kaif with Karan Johar as the producer. Moreover, it was also supposed to be Aditya Dhar’s directorial debut! Hence, is there a possibility that Dhoom Dhaam and Raat Baaki rest on the same plot?

Bollywood Hungama exclusively spoke to Aditya Dhar and he confirmed this aspect. He told us, “That’s true. It’s the same story.” However, he added, “But we tweaked it a little bit. We made it contemporary and a story of today’s times.”

Back in 2016, Aditya Dhar was all geared up to take Raat Baaki on floors. But after the Pulwama attack took place, the film industry took a collective stand of not casting actors from across the border. There were reports that Fawad would be replaced but eventually, the film was put on the backburner. Aditya then made his directorial debut with Uri – The Surgical Strike (2019), which became a sleeper blockbuster.

In an interview with Mumbai Mirror in March 2019, Aditya Dhar said, “It was a romcom laced with action and while my office was trying to figure out whom to cast in place of Fawad, I was fascinated by the surgical strikes that took place 11 days later on September 29 and started my research on October 1.”

The Sima Taparia connection

We also asked Aditya Dhar about why Sima Taparia was thanked in the film. He said, “We shot a scene with her, which was supposed to be at the beginning of the film.”

Does she arrange the match between Veer (Pratik Gandhi) and Koyal (Yami Gautam Dhar)? He replied, “Yes. But we had to edit the scene out. However, she did become a part of the film in a way. She featured in the promotional campaign as she’s associated with Netflix.”

The streaming giant dropped a video 4 days before the film’s release which features the Indian Matchmaking star talking about the film’s lead characters and raising laughs.

“It was NOT a mutual settlement!” – Kangana Ranaut’s apology letter to Javed Akhtar REVALED, Shabana Azmi breaks silence

An erroneous perception has been created around Javed Akhtar’s truce with Kangana Ranaut regarding their long-standing legal battle. For those who came in late, Kangana Ranaut had accused Javed Akhtar of intimidation over a meeting that they had regarding Kangana’s alleged relationship with Hrithik Roshan.

Javed saab retaliated with an airtight defamation case. This ended recently with Kangana submitting an unconditional apology, a copy of which is enclosed.

Responding to Kangana’s apology, Javed Akhtar’s wife Shabana Azmi spoke exclusively to this writer. She said, “They had asked for no monetary compensation but for her apology in writing. The victory is his and his lawyer Jay Bhardwaj’s. But I’m mystified why the press made it seem as though it was a mutual settlement but did not mention that it was the apology in writing which he was seeking and why he had fought the case for four and half years.”

In an earlier interaction right after Kangana’s apology, Javed Akhtar had told this writer, “She has given a letter of regret and apologies. Unconditionally withdrawn all her words. And given statements making a commitment that she will never repeat them again. Apologies for all the inconveniences caused to me. This is what I wanted and this what I got.”

EXCLUSIVE: Akshay Kumar-starrer Kesari Chapter 2 to also feature Regina Cassandra in a crucial role

Yesterday, the action-packed trailer of Sunny Deol’s Jaat was unveiled in a grand way. The promo featured a glimpse of Regina Cassandra. Meanwhile, another asset that dropped yesterday was that of Kesari Chapter 2. Though the makers have revealed that it stars Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan and Ananya Panday, Bollywood Hungama has revealed that this film has another important member in its cast – Regina Cassandra.

A trade source told Bollywood Hungama, “She has been kept under wraps by the makers but her character is quite crucial to the narrative. She plays the wife of C Sankaran Nair, the protagonist which is essayed by Akshay Kumar.”

The teaser of Kesari Chapter 2 established the world and introduced C Sankaran Nair. Ananya Panday and R Madhavan are expected to be unveiled in the trailer. It remains to be seen if Regina Cassandra will make it to the trailer or will the audience directly get to see her when they venture out to see the film on April 18.

Kesari Chapter 2 is directed by Karan Singh Tyagi and tells the story of a renowned lawyer and freedom fighter who took on the British Raj in his relentless pursuit of justice for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre victims. The film is inspired by the book ‘The Case That Shook The Empire’ by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat. Kesari Chapter 2 is produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Cape Of Good Films and Leo Media Collective.

This film will be Regina Cassandra’s third release of 2025. Her first release of the year was the Telugu biggie Vidaamuyarchi, co-starring Ajith Kumar. Jaat, on the other hand, also stars Randeep Hooda, Viineet Kumar Siingh and Saiyami Kher. Directed by Gopichand Malineni, it’ll arrive in cinemas on April 10, that is, a week before Kesari Chapter 2.

There were reports last year that Kesari Chapter 2 has been titled Shankara. It was initially supposed to be released on March 14, to coincide with Holi. Earlier this year, it was pushed to April 18.

SCOOP: May to get crowded as Aamir Khan eyes May 30 for Sitaare Zameen Par; Rajkummar Rao-Wamiqa Gabbi’s Bhool Chuk Maaf might release on May 9

The summer of 2024 was a boring one for moviegoers as very few films made it to cinemas in April and May. Many feared that the same might happen in 2025 as well, especially in the month of May. As of now, only Ajay Devgn-starrer Raid 2 has been scheduled for a release, on May 1. But if the buzz in the trade circles is to be believed, two more films might try their luck in cinemas this month.

A trade source told Bollywood Hungama, “Aamir Khan is expected to bring his highly awaited film Sitaare Zameen Par to cinemas on May 30. Earlier, he was hoping to release it in June but he realized that May 30 works better. Personally, this date is apt as IPL will end on Sunday, March 25.”

Sitaare Zameen Par is directed by R S Prasanna of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2017) fame and also stars Genelia Deshmukh.

Meanwhile, sources also said that Dinesh Vijan, of Maddock Films, is thinking of pushing the release of the romcom Bhool Chuk Maaf from April 10 to May 9.

The trade source said, “April 10 has Sunny Deol’s Jaat and Phule up for release. Salman Khan’s Sikandar will release on March 30 while Akshay Kumar’s Kesari Chapter 2 is scheduled to arrive on the big screen on April 18. A few days back, Excel Entertainment announced that Emraan Hashmi-starrer Ground Zero will be released on April 25. In such a scenario, Bhool Chuk Maaf might not get breathing space and it makes sense to come on May 9, a vacant slot.”

An industry expert remarked, “It’s also a lucky release week for Rajkummar Rao. Last year, Srikanth (2024) released at the same time and performed beyond expectations.”

Besides Rajkummar Rao, Bhool Chuk Maaf also stars Wamiqa Gabbi and rests on a novel and funny plot. Its teaser was attached with the prints of Chhaava, which was also produced by Maddock Films.

The trade source made it clear, “The makers of both Sitaare Zameen Par and Bhool Chuk Maaf have not taken the final decision yet. But these two dates are seriously being considered by them. An announcement is expected soon.”

Lastly, another promising film to look forward to in May is Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, starring Tom Cruise. It will arrive in theatres on May 23. In other words, if the aforementioned films manage to make it on the said dates, the months of April and May will be a treat for the moviegoers.

Hindustani Bhau moves court against Farah Khan over ‘Chhapris’ remark on Holi

Social media influencer and former Bigg Boss contestant Vikas Jayram Fhatak, known as Hindustani Bhau, has moved the Bombay High Court, seeking an FIR against Bollywood director-choreographer Farah Khan over her remarks on Holi.

According to his plea, Khan made a derogatory comment about the festival during a February 2025 episode of Celebrity MasterChef. He also stated that despite filing a formal complaint, the police have not taken any action.

The incident took place on February 20, when Farah Khan allegedly referred to Holi as “a festival for the Chhapris.”

Hindustani Bhau argued that “Chhapris” is a slang term with derogatory connotations, implying a lack of culture, refinement, and status.

The plea states that Farah Khan’s remark, made on a widely viewed public platform, hurt the sentiments of the Hindu community and could incite communal unrest. The comment quickly sparked media attention, with outlets like Firstpost reporting on public outrage.

Following the controversy, Vikas Fhatak filed a formal complaint with the Senior Inspector of Police at Khar Police Station on February 21, seeking an FIR against Khan.

Fhatak later escalated his complaint to the Deputy Commissioner of Police and the Additional Commissioner of Police, urging action against Farah Khan.

However, he claims that no action has been taken so far, and the police have yet to register an FIR.

In his petition, filed through advocate Ali Kaashif Khan-Deshmukh, Fhatak stressed that Holi is a festival of joy and unity, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil.

He argued that Farah Khan’s remarks directly insulted the cultural and religious sentiments of millions of Hindus worldwide.

“The petitioner states that the remarks made by the Respondent no.5 (Khan) have not only hurt the Hindu community but also set a dangerous precedent where public figures can make derogatory statements about religious festivals without accountability. Given the Respondent no.5 influence as a celebrity, the impact of these words is magnified, potentially inciting public unrest, communal tensions, and social disharmony. Many devotees feel insulted, and this could lead to public protests, law and order issues, and unnecessary unrest in an otherwise peaceful society.”

Fhatak contends that the police’s failure to register an FIR violates the Supreme Court’s ruling in Lalita Kumari v. Government of Uttar Pradesh & Ors (2014). The judgment mandates that an FIR must be registered under Section 154 of the CrPC if the information provided indicates a cognizable offense.

The petition asserts that Fhatak’s complaint clearly discloses a cognizable offense, making it legally mandatory for the police to register an FIR.
