Renowned filmmaker Onir, a champion of queer narratives and indie cinema, is thrilled to announce that his latest film, We Are Faheem & Karun, will be screened at the 39th edition of the prestigious BFI Flare on March 20 and 22, 2025. Onir shared his excitement, stating, “This will be the international premiere of our film and the first time a Kashmiri language film, shot entirely in the border regions of Gurez, Kashmir, is showing at the festival. The film would also be the first queer narrative from the Valley. A love story set in Gurez, Kashmir between a security guard at a construction site, Karun, from Kerala, and a local Kashmiri college student, Faheem.”

The film’s inclusion at BFI Flare marks a significant moment for Kashmiri representation in global cinema. Onir emphasized the importance of this milestone, adding, “I am proud that my Kashmiri cast members too will be present at the screening in London. Representation is very important for me. Apart from lead Akash Menon from Kerala, the film features Kashmiri actors Mir Tawseef, Mir Salman, Bashir Lone, and Sana Javeid.”

Acclaimed filmmaker Deepa Mehta, who is presenting We Are Faheem & Karun, expressed her admiration for the film, saying, “I am proud to be presenting We Are Faheem & Karun. This film touched me deeply with its themes of love, friendship, and duty, set against a backdrop of geopolitical conflict. The advertisement was shot on Friday afternoon and wrapped up late at night. Despite being a commercial, the shoot had the essence of a film set, with both Khan and Sircar paying close attention to every detail. “Even after filming his portions, Shah Rukh was fully involved, discussing minute details with Shoojit to perfect the scenes. Speaking of the professional front, SRK was last seen in Dunki, directed by Rajkumar Hirani and released in 2023. The actor will be next seen in King, written by Sujoy Ghosh and to be directed by Siddharth Anand. Reportedly, the film will mark the big screen debut of Shah Rukh’s daughter Suhana.

Varun Dhawan, fresh off an intense 45-day schedule for Border 2, is gearing up for his next big project—a romantic entertainer directed by his father, David Dhawan. This marks their fourth collaboration after Main Tera Hero (2014), Judwaa 2 (2017), and Coolie No. 1 (2020). Backed by Ramesh Taurani’s Tips Entertainment, the film also introduces Kannada actor Sreeleela to Bollywood, alongside Mrunal Thakur and Maniesh Paul. With initial schedules in Mumbai and Goa completed, an extensive UK shoot is planned for May and June.

A Grand International Shoot for the Romantic Entertainer
David Dhawan, known for his vibrant storytelling and comedy-driven narratives, aims to bring an international touch to this film. A report by Mid-Day quoted a source saying, “Varun and the team will be shooting extensively in London, covering popular spots including Piccadilly Circus among others. There is an elaborate dance number planned which will be one of the highlights of the film.” The team has locked several iconic locations, ensuring a mix of urban and scenic visuals for the romantic storyline.

Apart from the grand cityscapes, the UK schedule includes a week-long shoot in the countryside. “The countryside portions will feature key romantic sequences and a chase scene that adds an interesting dynamic to the film,” the source added. David Dhawan is focused on blending his signature humor with a fresh, modern aesthetic. The film is expected to showcase a mix of comedy, romance, and high-energy dance numbers, staying true to his style while offering something new to the audience.

Varun Dhawan, who has been juggling multiple projects, will head to London by mid-May after completing his commitments for Border 2 and Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari.

The re-release trend refuses to die down and the success of Sanam Teri Kasam (2016) and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013) in their re-runs has motivated many filmmakers to follow suit. Deepak Mukut, whose company Soham Rockstar, presented Sanam Teri Kasam, seems to be happy that the cult love story finally got its due in cinemas, which it didn’t during its original run in theatres 9 years ago. This month, he’s all set to get another film in cinemas – Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana (2017). Interestingly, the film will re-release on March 7, that is, in the Women’s Day week.

Like Sanam Teri Kasam, Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana also didn’t work as intended in cinemas and collected just Rs. 11.14 crores. But over the years, it achieved a cult following due to its plot, dramatic moments, performances and the song ‘Thukra Ke Mera Pyaar’. The track has a separate fan base and its picturization is quite memorable.

A trade expert commented, “There’s no major Hindi release on March 7 since The Diplomat has moved to March 14. This is an apt time for Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana to be back in cinemas. It’ll get a decent screen count which can increase if there’s a tremendous demand.”

It now remains to be seen if Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana manages to follow in the footsteps of Sanam Teri Kasam and become a huge hit. The film stars Rajkummar Rao and Kriti Kharbanda in lead roles. It is the story of a girl, Aarti, who’ll all set to get into an arranged marriage with a simpleton named Sattu. On the day of marriage, Aarti learns that she has cleared her PCS exams. Realizing that her would-be in-laws won’t allow her to work after marriage, she runs away without informing anybody, except her sister and uncle. The would-be bridegroom Sattu is shattered and also faces humiliation in society. Five years later, Aarti is a sub-registrar and doing very well in her career. All of a sudden, she’s accused of corruption and the senior officer, who’s handling the investigation, is none other than Sattu.

Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana was directed by Ratnaa Sinha and produced by Vinod Bachchan’s Soundrya Productions. Ratnaa’s husband, filmmaker Anubhav Sinha, yesterday posted an Instagram story confirming the re-release of Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana on March 7.

The actress shared a video post explaining the situation and wrote, “There are multiple videos currently circulating on social media and WhatsApp, which appear to feature me. However, I want to clarify that the videos are AI-generated and inauthentic.

She added, “I have no involvement in its creation or dissemination, nor do I endorse its content in any way. Any claims made in the videos should not be attributed to me, as it does not reflect my views or work. I urge everyone to verify information before sharing and be cautious of misleading AI-generated content.”

The ‘Mere Dholna’ singer also mentioned that she is unable to delete her account. She urged her fans to stay cautious and avoid clicking on any spam or phishing links from her X account.

Addressing about it, Shreya shared, “Hello fans and friends. My Twitter / X account is hacked since February 13th. I have tried everything in my capacity to reach out to the X team. But there has been no response beyond a few auto generated responses. I am unable to even delete my account since I can’t log in any more.”

She added, “Please don’t click on any link or believe any message written from that account. They are all spams and fishing links.”

Shreya’s fans flooded the comments section, hoping for a resolution while expressing disappointment over her struggle to delete her X account. One fan wrote, “Hope we get you back there soon. We will wait for you. Your Twitter SGFamily misses you so much—so many emotions are attached to it. Hope you recover your account soon.”
