Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday nominated actors Mohanlal, R. Madhavan, Nirahua, and singer Shreya Ghoshal to support his campaign against obesity. He shared a note on X, tagging them and urging them to join his new mission.

During his Mann Ki Baat address on Sunday, PM Modi urged Indians to consciously reduce their oil consumption by at least 10% while cooking. He encouraged people to pass this message to 10 others, aiming to build a nationwide health awareness chain.

In his address, PM Modi cited data revealing that one in eight people in India suffers from obesity. He said, “To become a fit and healthy nation, we have to tackle the problem of obesity. According to a study, today one in every eight people is suffering from the problem of obesity.”

He further added, “Obesity cases have doubled in the past few years, but what is even more worrying is that the problem of obesity among children has also increased four-fold. Therefore, you should decide that you will use 10 per cent less oil every month. You can decide that you will buy 10 per cent less oil when you buy it for cooking. This will be an important step towards reducing obesity. By making small changes in our eating habits, we can make our future stronger, fitter and disease-free.”

Titles like Sanam Teri Kasam, Tumbbad, Laila Majnu, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Veer Zaara, Rehna Hai Terre Dil Mein, etc, have all found their way back to theatres, rekindling nostalgia among fans.

Adding to the excitement, Raanjhanaa, starring Dhanush and Sonam Kapoor, is also set to hit theatres again on February 28, alongside Dil To Pagal Hai. As Udit Narayan faces backlash over his viral kiss controversy, he now finds himself in legal trouble. His first wife, Ranjana Jha, has filed a maintenance case against him, accusing him of violating her rights and taking over her property. On February 21, he attended a hearing at the Supaul Family Court but refused to agree to any settlement.

According to Navbharat Times, Udit Narayan has claimed that Ranjana Jha is attempting to extort money from him. Earlier, a case was filed against him with the Bihar Women’s Commission, but it was settled at the time.

The report stated that Udit Narayan had been providing financial support to Ranjana Jha, initially giving her Rs. 15,000 per month, which he increased to Rs. 25,000 in 2021. He also gave her farmland and a house worth Rs. 1 crore. Additionally, the Bihar Women’s Commission found that he had given her jewelry worth Rs. 25 lakh and a piece of land, which she later sold.

Through her lawyer, Ranjana Jha expressed that as she ages and her health deteriorates, her only wish is to be with Udit Narayan and spend the rest of her life with him.

After the hearing, she spoke to the media, stating that she feels ignored by Udit and accused him of keeping Rs. 18 lakh from the sale of their land. She also alleged that whenever she visits Mumbai, she faces threats and intimidation, making her feel unsafe.

Udit Narayan and Ranjana Jha married in 1984, but as his career flourished, their relationship grew strained. Ranjana alleged that he gradually distanced himself, eventually refusing to acknowledge their marriage and leaving her feeling abandoned.

Seeking security, Ranjana Jha approached the Women’s Commission in 2006. While Udit Narayan initially promised her a home and financial support, she later claimed that those assurances were never fully honored.

This controversy arises as Udit Narayan faces backlash over his viral kiss incident. During a live performance of ‘Tip Tip Barsa Pani’, a video captured him kissing a female fan on the lips as she approached for selfies. The clip quickly spread on social media, sparking criticism from many who deemed his actions inappropriate.

The historical drama Chhaava has come under scrutiny as the descendants of Maratha warriors Ganoji and Kanhoji Shirke have accused the film of misrepresentation. Alleging that Chhaava portrayed their ancestors in a negative light, the Shirke family threatened to file a Rs 100 crores defamation suit against the makers. In response to the controversy, director Laxman Utekar issued an apology, clarifying his stance on the depiction of historical figures in the film.

Allegations Against Chhaava
The dispute arose over the film’s portrayal of Ganoji and Kanhoji Shirke, who are depicted as betraying Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj by aligning with Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. This storyline has drawn objections from the Shirke family, who argue that their ancestors have been unjustly vilified. On February 20, the family served a legal notice to Utekar, demanding changes to the film’s narrative to avoid historical misrepresentation.
Laxman Utekar’s Clarification
Following the notice, Utekar personally reached out to Bhushan Shirke, one of the descendants, to address the concerns. As per a report by local news portal Pudhari, Utekar extended an apology, explaining that he had taken measures to avoid directly linking the characters to the Shirke lineage. “We have only mentioned the names of Ganoji and Kanhoji in Chhaava, without referring to their surname. We’ve also made sure to not disclose the village they belonged to. Our intention was not to hurt the sentiments of the Shirke family. I sincerely apologise if Chhaava caused any discomfort,” Utekar reportedly stated.
Shirke Family’s Response and Further Action
Despite the apology, the Shirke family remains firm in their demand for corrective measures. They have warned of state wide protests if their concerns are not adequately addressed. The legal notice urges the filmmakers to modify any scenes that could misrepresent the historical figures or defame their legacy.

The movie, which also stars Rashmika Mandanna as Yesubai Bhosale, Vineet Kumar Singh as Kavi Kalash, and Akshaye Khanna as Aurangzeb, continues to draw audiences despite the ongoing dispute.
