The beloved romantic comedy franchise Tanu Weds Manu is set to return with its third installment, as per a latest report. Directed by Aanand L Rai, the upcoming film will once again feature Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan, who have previously captivated audiences with their performances in the first two films.

Continuing the Franchise

Since its debut in 2011, Tanu Weds Manu quickly became a sleeper hit, leading to a highly successful sequel in 2015. The second film not only performed well at the box office but also became the highest-grossing Hindi feature film led by a female protagonist. Despite the overwhelming fan demand for a third part, official announcements had been scarce until now.

According to Pinkvilla, Aanand L Rai and his writing partner, Himanshu Sharma, have finally locked the plot for Tanu Weds Manu 3. A source close to the development revealed to the publication, “Tanu Weds Manu 3 beautifully continues from the point where the first and second part ended. It’s a sequel in true sense, and the makers have come across a story that organically leads itself to a trilogy.”

Tanu Weds Manu 3 to be a Blend of Humor, Romance, and Drama

True to its predecessors, the third installment will maintain the franchise’s signature blend of humor, romance, and drama. The source elaborated saying, “Staying true to the world of parts one and two, the third installment too will be a blend of humor with romance and drama. The basic idea is locked by Aanand L Rai, and the intent is to take the film on floors in the second half of 2025.”
Kangana’s Triple Role and Madhavan’s Return
In a significant twist, Kangana Ranaut will take on a triple role for the first time in her career, while R Madhavan will reprise his singular role. “Kangana is excited to explore the first triple role of her career and is awaiting a complete narration from Aanand L Rai. The film will give her the opportunity to dive into new shades as a performer,” the source added.

For context, Kangana had previously showcased her versatility with a double role in Tanu Weds Manu Returns.

Tanu Weds Manu 3 is expected to begin shooting by July or August 2025, once Aanand L Rai completes his current project, Tere Ishk Mein, starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon. Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film, Emergency.

Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar are celebrated as one of the most iconic screenwriting duos in Indian cinema history. Renowned for their work on classic films such as Sholay, Zanjeer, Deewar, and Don, their legacy is widely admired. However, writer of the TV show FIR Amit Aaryan has stirred controversy by challenging their reputation. In a recent interview with Digital Commentary, Aaryan claimed that the duo merely copied from other films, describing them as “good salesmen” rather than true writers.

Amit Aaryan’s Controversial Claims
During the interview, Amit Aaryan stated, “I do not even consider Salim-Javed to be writers. This might be taken as a controversial statement but yes, the whole world seems to admire them, but not me. They have only copied things in their entire life. Salim-Javed are copy-writers, not writers. Let me say why.”

Aaryan backed his claims by drawing parallels between Sholay and previous films. He noted, “Their film Sholay, which is about this one man whose hands have been cut by dacoits. He wants revenge with the help of a man. It was released in 1975, and right before there was a film called Mera Gaon Mera Desh. Vinod Khanna played the dacoit, and his name was Jabbar Singh. In Sholay, it became Gabbar Singh. Jayant played an army officer there, and here it was a policeman. There only one hand was cut; here both his hands were cut. There Dharmendra took revenge; here it was Amitabh Bachchan.”
Examples of Alleged Copying
Amit Aaryan did not stop at Sholay. He further claimed that the film borrowed plot points from Do Aankhein Baraah Haat and Seven Samurai. He also referenced Deewar, asserting that it had a similar climax to Dilip Kumar’s Ganga Jamuna. Additionally, Aaryan alleged that the duo even reused material from their own previous works for the film Shakti.

Aaryan concluded that while Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar may not fit the traditional definition of writers, they excelled in the business aspect of filmmaking. “They knew how to do business well.” So, according to Amit, they can be called good salesmen who can narrate the film and do business well.

Having said that it is worth mentioning here that neither Salim Khan nor Javed Akhtar have commented on Amit’s remarks, as of now.

Binny And Family was released in cinemas on September 27 and it marks the acting debut of Varun Dhawan’s niece Anjini Dhawan. Besides Anjini, it also stars Pankaj Kapur, Himani Shivpuri, Rajesh Kumar, Naman Tripaathy and Charu Shankar and is written and directed by Ssanjay Tripaathy. It is produced by Mahaveer Jain Films and Wavebrand Productions and presented by Ektaa R Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms, Shashank Khaitan and Mrighdeep Singh Lamba. The film is released in cinemas by PVR.

Binny And Family is the story of a teenage girl living in the United Kingdom with her parents. Her life turns upside down when her Bihar-based grandparents arrive at their residence and take over her room.

South Indian choreographer Jani Master has recently made headlines after being jailed on charges of sexual assault. He was set to receive the National Award for Best Choreography for his contributions to Dhanush’s film Thiruchitrambalam (2022) at the ceremony in New Delhi on October 8. However, due to the ongoing investigation, the National Film Awards Cell has suspended the award and withdrawn his invitation to the event.

Details of the Allegations
The suspension follows serious allegations made by a 21-year-old woman, who accused Jani Master of sexually assaulting her over several years. It is reported that the alleged offenses took place when the victim was a minor. The choreographer has been charged under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act of 2012.

In a formal statement, the National Film Awards Cell announced, “In view of the seriousness of the allegation and the matter being subjudice, the Competent Authority has decided to suspend the National Film Award of the Best Choreography for the Year 2022 to Shri Shaik Jani Basha for the film Thiruchitrambalam until further orders.”
Withdrawal of Award Invitation
The letter, addressed to Jani Master, further explained that his invitation to the 70th National Film Awards function, scheduled to be held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, on October 8, has also been withdrawn. The statement added, “Hence, the invitation extended to Shri Shaik Jani Basha for the 70th National Film Awards Function is hereby withdrawn.”

Although Jani Master had recently been granted interim bail by the court to attend the award show, the circumstances surrounding his arrest have led to this sudden cancellation.
Industry Reactions and Additional Measures
In light of these serious allegations, the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce has formed a panel to investigate the claims against Jani Master. Furthermore, he has been instructed to refrain from participating in all events associated with the Jana Sena Party, for which he campaigned during the recent elections.

Actress Rhea Chakraborty has been summoned by the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) Unit of the Delhi Police Special Cell in connection with the alleged HIBOX app scam. The investigation, which is set to take place on Wednesday, October 9, revolves around a scheme that reportedly defrauded investors of Rs 500 crores through promises of high daily returns.

Background of the HIBOX App Scam
The HIBOX mobile application, launched in February 2024, attracted approximately 30,000 investors by offering returns ranging from 1 to 5 percent on investments made between February and June. However, users have reported that payments ceased in July, with the app’s operators citing technical issues, legal problems, and GST concerns as reasons for the non-payments.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (IFSO Special Cell) Hemant Tiwari, “The HIBOX app was at the centre of a carefully planned scam.” As complaints began to pile up, the police received over 500 reports from victims, prompting a full investigation into the matter.
Investigation Details of Rs 500-Crores App-Based Fraud
The investigation began on August 16, when police received complaints from 29 victims of the HIBOX app. An FIR was registered on August 20, citing several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and provisions of the Information Technology Act. The complaints originated from various locations, including the Cyber Northeast district, outer districts, Shahdara, and the NCRP portal.

In the course of the investigation, authorities arrested Sivaram, the alleged mastermind behind the scam, and seized Rs 18 crores from four different bank accounts linked to him.
Rhea Chakraborty’s Involvement
Rhea Chakraborty’s involvement in the case has raised eyebrows, particularly as her summons came just a day after popular YouTuber Elvish Yadav and comedian Bharti Singh were also called in for questioning by the Delhi Police. While the specifics of Chakraborty’s involvement remain unclear, the scrutiny of social media influencers and public figures has intensified as police probe the app’s promotional activities.

Baby John revolves around Dhawan’s character, a dedicated police officer who is forced to leave the force after a personal tragedy. This is where Khan’s character comes into play, serving as a mentor and guiding force for the protagonist. “Salman’s cop is shown as something of a mentor to the protagonist. He will show faith in Varun’s character and bring him back in the police force,” added the source.

Khan is set to shoot his cameo over the weekend at an Andheri studio. Dhawan, who had previously completed his portions of the film in April, will be rejoining the set to collaborate with Khan and Jackie Shroff, the film’s antagonist. Over two days, Khan will film his introduction scene and engage in thrilling action sequences. The creative team, including Kalees and writer Sumit Arora, are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that Khan’s cameo is a memorable treat for his fans.

The report revealed that the filming commenced in Thailand in July and is slated to continue in Mumbai and the United Arab Emirates.
