Jio Studios and Aamir Khan Productions’ Laapataa Ladies, directed by Kiran Rao, has certainly created a stir with its release. Continuing its spree of winning hearts, the film has now spread its wings beyond borders with its release in Japan, today.

Laapataa Ladies has now been released in Japan and is all set to win hearts there as well.  The makers have also come up with a special Japanese poster of the film. After its successful run in India, the film is poised to make waves in Japan. Moreover, this marks yet another achievement for the film following its entry for the Oscars. The film also won the Best Film Critics’ Choice Award at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2024 (IFFM).

Set in rural India, the film follows the tale of two brides who are separated during a train journey, triggering a series of unexpected and complex events. It stars Pratibha Ranta, Nitanshi Goel, Sparsh Shrivastava, Ravi Kishan and Chhaya Kadam.

Presented by Jio Studios, Laapataa Ladies is directed by Kiran Rao and produced by Aamir Khan and Jyoti Deshpande. Made under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions and Kindling Productions, with the script based on an award-winning story by Biplab Goswami, the film is still running in theatres. The screenplay and dialogue are written by Sneha Desai, while the additional dialogues have been jotted down by Divyanidhi Sharma.

Actor Govinda found himself hospitalized after sustaining a gunshot injury early Tuesday morning. On October 4, the actor was discharged and was recently spotted leaving the medical facility, much to the relief of his fans. His wife, Sunita Ahuja, provided an update on his condition, addressing reporters gathered outside the hospital in Juhu, Mumbai.

Speaking to the media, Sunita expressed gratitude for the support and well-wishes from fans, stating, “With everyone’s blessings, he has completely recovered. He has a lot of fans everywhere. We are praying for him everywhere, in the temple, in the dargah. With everyone’s blessings, he is completely fine. I would like to say to the fans, don’t panic. He is completely fine. After a few months, he will start dancing again. Thank you so much.”

The unfortunate accident reportedly occurred while Govinda was tidying up his closet. While cleaning, he accidentally discharged his firearm, which led to the injury to his foot. According to various reports, a malfunction in the gun’s mechanism caused the bullet to fire unexpectedly. At the time of the incident, the weapon was loaded with six rounds, one of which struck him. Sunita was in Kolkata during the mishap, but once she was informed, she rushed back to be by his side.

The actor was ultimately able to leave the hospital, albeit in a wheelchair, where he greeted members of the media and provided insights into the distressing situation. Describing the moment of the accident, Govinda shared, “Aisa laga ki yeh kya ho gaya (I was like what has just happened).”

His shock was evident as he recounted the incident. When asked if he was alone at that time, he explained, “Haan…main nikal raha tha show ke liye. Kolkata ke liye aur yahi koi 5 -4:45 baje aur uss time toh woh girr hi gaya aur chal hi padi aur mujhe aisa laga ke jhatka to laga ke kya hua (Yes, I was preparing to leave for a show in Kolkata, and at around 4:45 or 5 a.m., it just fell and misfired. I was shocked about what has just happened).”

The actor elaborated on his response to the alarming situation, saying, “Maine dekha toh favara nikal raha tha bada. Phir maine socha ke stithi ko kisi aur tarike se joda nahin jaaye isliye qaid kar ke rakh liya jaaye. Maine videos taiyaar kar liye aur doctor sahab Aggarwal ji ke yahan chala gaya (When I saw there was a lot of blood coming out, I thought it was better to document the moment so that it would not be misinterpreted. I recorded the videos and reached out to Dr. Aggarwal).

As the news of his injury spread, fans expressed their concerns and well-wishes on social media, showing an outpouring of love for the actor. The support from his audience and the film community highlights the deep connection he has established over the years through his work.

In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Sharvari Wagh expressed her admiration for Alia Bhatt’s talent and work ethic. When asked what she learned from working with Alia, Sharvari responded, “Everything. She’s an incredible human being and an incredible artist. I just think that every day that I’m on set, it’s a masterclass for me.”

Sharvari further added, “I get paid to be an actor and sit next to her and watch her perform. It’s such a learning experience.”

Sharvari also discussed the trust that Yash Raj Films’ head Aditya Chopra has placed in her by casting her in the lead role of Alpha. Sharvari acknowledged the significance of this role in her career, stating, “It’s very motivating because when you’re such a young actor, and you know that the spy universe has always been helmed by these big superstars, it gives me a lot of motivation to work really hard.”

She continued, “I know I have big shoes to fill. I know that it is a huge franchise, and a lot of belief that a producer has put in me. I don’t want to disappoint—not him, not myself, and definitely not everybody working on our film.”

Alpha, directed by Shiv Rawail, promises to be a thrilling addition to Yash Raj Films’ growing spy universe. The film will also feature a cameo of Hrithik Roshan. Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol are reportedly in supporting roles.

The biggest female star of present times, Alia Bhatt is back to win over the box office with the Karan Johar-produced Jigra, directed by Vasan Bala. While the film is all set to release on Dussehra, Bollywood Hungama has exclusively learnt that the film is already a profitable venture for Dharma Productions.

According to our highly placed sources, Jigra is made on a budget of Rs. 80 crores, and another Rs. 10 crores allotted to the print and publicity. “And the entire sum of Rs. 90 crores have been recovered by Dharma with sale of digital and satellite rights. Every penny of money that the film earns from music rights and theatrical will be a profit for Dharma. Karan Johar has a business mind like no one else, and Jigra is an example. He has made a rather multiplex-urban film, and fetched record deals for the genre using all his might and goodwill,” a trade source told Bollywood Hungama.

The source also informed us that Jigra has fetched premium prices due to the idea of Vasan Bhala and Alia Bhatt coming together. “Vasan’s last film, Monica O My Darling did well on Netflix, and the same is the case with Alia’s Darlings. When Netflix suggested this combo, and Karan made it a reality, the platform agreed to pay a premium price of Rs. 70 crores for Jigra. The makers have fetched another Rs. 20 crores from satellite,” the source told us further.

Jigra is all set to release on October 11, 2024.

The source revealed that it won’t be just another trailer launch saying, “The trailer of Singham Again will be launched at the sprawling Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre located in Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai. It’s a 2000-seater auditorium and not just media but even fans of Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone and Tiger Shroff will also be invited. The trailer is the most awaited of the year and the makers have made sure that even the trailer launch will be the biggest event of 2024.”

Another source said, “Singham Again is a very grand film and hence, the makers also want to make sure that itna badi film ka trailer launch bhi bada hona chahiye. The trailer content along with the headline grabbing event will make sure that the hype for the film and India’s first cop universe will increase drastically.”

Singham Again releases in cinemas on Friday, November 1.

This Diwali is going to be fireworks at the box office as Rohit Shetty returns to the playground with his biggest feature film to date, Singham Again. The filmmaker has promised that the next will be the Avengers of Cop Universe and he is going all out with the promotions in October, leading to the release on November 1. And now, Bollywood Hungama has exclusively learnt that Rohit Shetty has secured a mega-deal for Singham Again.

Our trade sources confirm that Singham Again has got Rs. 130 crore from its digital partner, Amazon Prime. “Rohit Shetty and Amazon Prime have a great working equation, which is evolving with every passing day. And why not? Their first collaboration on Indian Police Force was very successful without any hassles of production. The equation padded with the brand value of Singham and Cop Universe has got Singham Again Rs. 130 crores from Amazon Prime,” a source told Bollywood Hungama.

We also hear that this is the biggest deal of OTT till date for Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty respectively. “It’s a big film and hence, a big deal. The overall non-theatrical sale is around the Rs. 180-200 crore mark, with satellite and music getting another Rs. 50 to 70 crores,” the source told us further.

The budget of Singham Again is around the Rs. 350 to 375 crore mark, excluding Print and Advertisement, making it one of the most ambitious action films of the cop genre. The trailer is expected to be out within the next 7-days

A day after entrepreneurs in Jaipur alleged that actress Triptii Dimri skipped their event after charging a fee for her appearance, she has responded to the controversy. Organizers of a Nari Shakti event hosted by FICCI FLO’s Jaipur chapter claimed that Triptii had committed to attending on Tuesday but failed to show up. The actress has now refuted these claims.

According to a statement from the Animal and Qala-fame actor’s spokesperson, she attended all of the activities she had scheduled in Jaipur. “During the ongoing promotional campaign for her film Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, Triptii Dimri fully honored her professional obligations, attending all scheduled events and sessions related to the film.”

The statement also refutes the organizers’ claim that she agreed to attend the event or charged any fee for it. It read, “Notably, she did not participate or commit to participate in any personal appearances or events beyond her promotional duties. It’s important to clarify that no additional fees or payments were accepted for her involvement in these activities.”

On Tuesday, reports indicated that Triptii was expected to attend a Nari Shakti event organized by FICCI FLO at a hotel on JLN Marg in Jaipur, but she did not show up. One of the female entrepreneurs involved in organizing the event claimed that a deal was made with the actress for ₹5.5 lakh and stated that they would pursue legal action against her. She also called for a boycott of both Triptii and her film, accusing her of cheating.

In a viral video from the event, attendees were seen vandalizing Triptii’s poster and calling for her boycott, and the film’s poster was also removed.

Triptii was in Jaipur to promote her upcoming movie, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, which stars Rajkummar Rao. The actors participated in several promotional events in the city before leaving on Tuesday evening. The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on October 11.
