The press conference of the World Pickleball League was held today, August 20, at a hotel in Mumbai and it was attended by the talented and beautiful actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The actress was in her element as she played pickleball on stage and threw the ball towards the journalists, who happily tried to catch it.

During the question and answer session with the media, Samantha Ruth Prabhu was asked about the shocking Kolkata rape and murder case that shook the country and how women’s safety in all areas should be given prominence.

Samantha agreed, “It (women’s safety) is the need of the hour as you just mentioned. It is the absolute need of the hour. All eyes are on the change that can come about. We are really, really looking forward to some change because change is the need of the hour. I hope that change comes really soon.”

On August 9, a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata was raped and murdered by a civic volunteer with the Kolkata Police disaster management force. This incident led to protests by doctors and others and also a lot of outrage across the country.

Samantha also talked about the importance of sports, “I think sports really has a big part to play in growth. I have seen all around me that when you are into sports, you just have this kind of discipline and resilience. You put in the hard work. A sportsperson will always stand out in the crowd.”

On the film front, Samantha Ruth Prabhu was seen in two films in 2023 – Shaakuntalam and Kushi. Earlier this month, she graced the teaser launch of her much-awaited show Citadel: Honey Bunnyon Amazon Prime Video. At this event, her co-star Varun Dhawan spoke highly about Samantha for working in such a challenging show despite battling myositis. He said, “My preparation was nothing compared to Samantha’s because it was public knowledge what she was battling with when she got onto this show. I thought I was having a hard time when I started rehearsing. But then when I’d see the work ethic that this girl had and what she was battling, that really inspired me.”

Bollywood actor Shreyas Talpade has found himself at the unfortunate end of a death hoax, a distressing incident that has deeply impacted him and his family. The actor, who recently appeared at the trailer launch of Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency, took to Instagram to address the false and harmful rumour.

In a heartfelt post, Talpade expressed his disappointment and anger at the spread of such misinformation. He emphasized the real-world consequences of the hoax, particularly on his young daughter. Having already faced the anxiety of his father’s heart attack in 2023, the child’s worries have intensified due to this cruel and irresponsible act.

Talpade’s post reads, “My little daughter, who goes to school every day, is already anxious about my well-being, constantly asking questions and seeking reassurance. This false news only deepens her fears, forcing her to confront more questions from her peers and teachers, stirring up emotions that we’ve been trying to manage as a family.”

The actor also highlighted the broader impact of such hoaxes, stating, “To those pushing this content further, I ask you to pause and consider the impact. Many people have genuinely prayed for my well-being, and it’s disheartening to see humor used in a way that can hurt sentiments, cause distress to my loved ones, and disrupt our lives.”

The actor concluded his post with a strong message to the trolls, urging them to cease spreading such harmful content. “Don’t joke around at the cost of others, and don’t do this to anyone else,” he wrote.

On the work front, Shreyas Talpade will next be seen portraying former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Emergency, which is set to release on September 6.

The teaser introduces Kareena Kapoor Khan as a cop who is dealing with a gripping case of children being killed brutally while dealing with her own turmoil and inner demons. Marking his return to ZEE TV, after the grand success of Kundali Bhagya, Dheeraj Dhoopar is now winning hearts as Subhaan Siddiqui in Rabb Se Hai Dua. Dheeraj has taken over the role as the male lead along with Yesha Rughani as Ibaadat, Seerat Kapoor as Mannat after a two-decade leap with the show witnessing many twists and turns. As the lead couple have made a special place in the hearts of viewers, the show which enjoyed the 10:30 pm slot has now also been shifted to the prime time 7:00 pm slot. Reacting to the same, Dheeraj Dhoopar in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, shared his happiness over this decision.

“We were pleasantly surprised when we got to know about the slot change. We were doing pretty well in our previous slot too and I feel that was the reason why it is moved to a better slot,” Dheeraj Dhoopar told Bollywood Hungama. Expressing his happiness and excitement further, the actor shared, “I think the show had potential for better TRPs and much more fan base. The numbers that we got on a 10:30 pm slot were really good, and I feel in the new time slot we will get even better numbers. The new slot will surely help us reach more audience and will add on to the current base that the show has.”

Speaking about how the second generation often finds it difficult and challenging owing to the kind of pressure they have to live up to their predecessors, Dheeraj stated that he is relieved of the pressure now, with the current response the show has been receiving. “I think thugs have settled now. There is no such pressure, and the numbers speak for itself. I would only say that keep showering us with your love and support,” he concluded.

For the unversed, the current track in Rabb Se Hai Dua revolves around Subhaan forcibly marrying Ibaadat to avenge Mannat but the latter has now decided to turn against her own sister as she promises to get back Subhaan in her life. The show airs on ZEE TV currently at 10:30 pm and will soon be shifting to the 7:00 pm slot.

Bollywood film Maine Pyar Kiya, starring Salman Khan and Bhagyashree, is set to enchant audiences once again. On the occasion of its 35th anniversary, the film is making a grand re-release in selected PVR-INOX Pictures and Cinepolis India theatres on August 23, 2024.

Rajshri Productions, the makers of the romantic drama, announced the news with a post on Instagram, featuring a collage of Salman Khan and Bhagyashree. The caption simply read, “It’s time to relive their ‘Pyar Bhari Dosti’ as #MainePyarKiya re-releases on 23rd August 2024 in selected PVRINOX Pictures and Cinepolis India theatres.”

Bollywood actresses Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh are set to embark on a thrilling new chapter as they commence the Kashmir schedule of their action-packed spy thriller, Alpha. The duo, who portray brave intelligence officers in the film, will be immersed in the breathtaking landscapes of Kashmir, where they will be shooting some high-octane action sequences from August 24 onwards.

As per a report in Dainik Bhaskar, a source close to the production revealed, “Alia and Sharvari will be shooting in Kashmir from August 24 onwards. The team has meticulously planned the action sequences, and there’s even a possibility of Hrithik Roshan joining them for a special cameo. The first major action sequence will pit Sharvari’s character against Bobby Deol’s, promising to be a visual spectacle.” Interestingly, Hrithik Roshan’s character, Kabir, will also make an appearance in the upcoming film where he will mentor Alia Bhatt’s character.

The film, directed by Shiv Rawail, is touted as a big spectacle in the spy genre. Both Alia and Sharvari have undergone rigorous training to embody their roles as fearless agents. “Alia’s character in Alpha is a multi-layered one, spanning several years. It’s a challenging yet exciting role for her,” shared the source.

Anil Kapoor also stars in the film, playing a pivotal role. However, the source clarified that while Anil’s character is undergoing a physical transformation, Bobby Deol’s involvement in the Kashmir schedule is yet to be confirmed.

As the team gears up for the Kashmir schedule, the excitement surrounding Alpha continues to soar. Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha is slated for a 2025 release.

Sunny Deol will reportedly be portraying a character that embodies the essence of a Jatt—a term synonymous with strength, heroism, and an unyielding spirit. The title Jatt was carefully chosen to reflect Deol’s powerful on-screen persona, as he steps into a role designed to showcase his iconic image. The film is slated for a marathon shooting schedule, expected to wrap up by early September 2024.

Composer S Thaman will score the film. Rishi Punjabi, the film’s cinematographer, brings his visual storytelling expertise to this action-packed drama, while Avinash Kolla serves as the art director.

Deol has an exciting slate of projects lined up. He is currently working on Lahore 1947, produced by Aamir Khan and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, which also stars Preity Zinta and Deol’s son, Karan Deol. Additionally, Deol recently announced Border 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the blockbuster drama Border, directed by JP Dutta. He is also gearing up for his role as Hanuman in the much-awaited Ramayana and is in discussions for a project with director Abbas Mustan, rumoured to be an action thriller.

The documentary Angry Young Men was released on Amazon Prime Video today, that is, August 20, and it educates viewers about some fascinating trivia. It is about the glorious career of Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, who were known as Salim-Javed and how they changed the course of Indian cinema. The turning point in their lives was the film Zanjeer (1973) and it also made Amitabh Bachchan an actor to watch out for. Big B was cast opposite Jaya Bachchan, who he later married. The first episode consists of interesting trivia about this classic movie.

Jaya Bachchan revealed, “I didn’t want to do Zanjeer. I basically never wanted to be a part of male-centric cinema. Zanjeer was a male-centric film.” Explaining why she ended up signing the film, she said, “Salim saab and Javed saab were very straightforward. They had tried a lot of other women actors. Of course, they all had refused. And they said, ‘You can’t say no, we need you’!”

Jaya continued, “Another temptation was my co-star (Amitabh Bachchan). So, I thought, ‘Chalo, kuch waqt mil jaayega (to spend with each other)’.”

One of the most amazing episodes revolving Zanjeer is how Salim-Javed mentioned their names on the posters of the film on their own. Salim Khan justified their bold decision, “A script is the most important thing in filmmaking. Yet, writers were not valued, and sometimes not even credited. This was a practice, which we decided to break. Hence, we caught hold of a painter and gave him paint, a brush and a stencil with our names.”

Javed Akhtar raised laughs as he said, “The painters were drunk while doing our job. So, they painted our names on the heroine’s name, hero’s forehead and Pran’s mouth (laughs)!”

Javed also put all the blame on Salim Khan, “All these acts of bravery were his. He used to instigate me. I’d ask him, ‘Are you sure?’. He replied, ‘Haan, haan. Kyun nahin? Kya darr hai? Dekha jaayega’!”

Salim Khan further stated, “We worked so hard and you won’t give us credit? A songwriter, who writes a single page, has his name on the poster, while the writer of the entire script isn’t mentioned!”

Javed Akhtar also said that this move raised a lot of eyebrows, “Some people didn’t take this kindly. They were like, ‘Tum log writer ho aur phir bhi chahte ho ki sab log tumhe jaane?’!”

If a report by PinkVilla is something to go by, then Saif is all set to mark his return to the franchise. The portal quoted a source saying, “Saif Ali Khan has been discussing Race 4 with Ramesh Taurani for a while now and the duo has finally come to the agreement of rebooting the franchise with Race 4. The actor has agreed in principle and is excited to get into the world of Race again. Ramesh Taurani is aiming to take the film on floors in the first quarter of 2025.”

The source further shared, “While the basic plot of Race 4 is locked, the team is presently working on the screenplay. Apart from Saif Ali Khan, a big ensemble will come on board and the casting is also underway. The makers are also looking to reboot it by getting in a fresh and credible voice to direct the film.”

While Race 4 is in the early stages of development, Saif Ali Khan will be next seen in Devara Part 1. He also wrapped shooting for Siddharth Anand’s heist drama Jewel Thief – The Red Sun Chapter.
