On Tuesday, Chhapaak collected Rs. 2.25 crores* more. Compared to Monday collections of Rs. 2.35 crores, this is further drop in numbers. The Deepika Padukone starrer is primarily collecting in select multiplexes of urban centers and one waits to see how do the footfalls hold up in these centers today and tomorrow.

What helps the Fox Star Studios film though are gains from sales of non-theatrical rights. The cost of production of Chhapaak is Rs. 23 crores and there is further spend on P&A which amounts to Rs. 12 crores. This brings the total cost of Rs. 35 crores. Out of these, Rs. 23 crores have already been recovered through satellite and digital sales while music has further brought in Rs. 3 crores. While that takes care of Rs. 26 crores out of the budget of Rs. Rs. 35 crores, recovery of remaining Rs. 9 crores from theatrical business is not an issue.

While that should take care of the commerce factor of the film, the fact still remains that a major film like this with a superstar female lead deserves to be seen by a larger count of audiences. Theatrically, the film has collected Rs. 22.62 crores* so far and while at one point in time it had seemed that it would enjoy an eventual lifetime of Rs. 40-50 crores, for now the best case scenario for Chhapaak would be to find itself in the Rs. 30-35 crores range.

Instead of going down, it is in fact seeing an upswing in collections with every passing day, and that too on higher levels. If Friday was Rs. 15.10 crores, Monday stood quite stable with Rs. 13.75 crores coming in, which wasn’t far away from the first day collections. Now Tuesday has further stunned the trade as well as the industry, what with Rs. 16 crores* more coming in. To have the fifth day more than the first day is something that not many commercial entertainers can boast of.

It is as simple as that, audiences have braced the film in a big way and now the Om Raut directed affair is set to have a superhit run for itself. It has already collected Rs. 91.68 crores* and the trend so far indicates that the film will enter the Rs. 100 Crore Club today itself, which is truly remarkable.

Ajay Devgn and Saif Ali Khan have earned a major success to their name now, and rest assured it would be a superhit now. The speed with which the film manages to cross the Rs. 150 crores mark would decide how far would it eventually go because as this moment it seems that Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior can go anywhere. 2020 has begun on a winning note and should pave the way for many more biggies to come in time to come.

Chhapaak had a fair Monday at the box office, what with Rs. 2.35 crores coming in. The film has seen a drop when compared to Friday collections of Rs. 4.77 crores. Ideally, for it to have a decent run in theatres, the Meghna Gulzar directed film needed to be at least Rs. 3.50 crores, and ideally over Rs. 4 crores. However, the drop is evident here.

The best case scenario for the Deepika Padukone starrer is to now stay stable and be at the same levels right through the week. If there are normal drops of 10%-20% from here then the first week numbers won’t really be optimal. At least Rs. 10 crores are needed during the weekdays for the film to enjoy a first week of at least Rs. 30 crores.

Though at core multiplexes it could have well continued to stay strong, there is a lot of competition around it which is further impacting footfalls. As of now, the film stands at Rs. 21.37 crores and the number today would decide where exactly would it eventually head towards.

Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior had a very good Monday as it held up really well to collect Rs. 12 crores* more at the box office. Considering the fact that Friday was Rs. 15.10 crores, the hold is really good as it was just a partial holiday of Lohri and that too only in certain parts of the country.

In fact, given the kind of popularity that the film is enjoying, it would be safe to assume that even without a partial holiday a double digit score would have still come calling. That would have been quite a feat for the Ajay Devgn starrer as it is basically an action drama which is already collecting huge numbers. For it to demonstrate such hold is a clear sign of the film to have found widespread acceptance amongst class as well as mass audiences.

So far, the Om Raut directed film has collected Rs. 73.93 crores*. If the pace continues like this for the next couple of days then there are very good chances of Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior entering the Rs. 100 Crore Club in one week flat.

Early estimates suggest that the film has collected in the range of Rs. 11.50 to 13.50 crore on its fourth day taking total box-office collections close to the 75 crore mark. The final figures might be marginally higher too depending on how the small centers across the nation have held because the biz at national chains – PVR, INOX, Cinepolis and Carnival – is neck to neck with the opening day figures.

The period saga, directed by Om Raut, which is Ajay Devgn’s 100th film is racing towards the hit tag and there are strong chances for the film to clock the 100 crore mark within the first seven days of its run. It’s practically a no-show for the film on Monday and it will entail losses for the producer-distributor of the film, Fox Star Studios. Wrong timing backed with below par content are the reason for rejection by the audience, however the makers might try and push the blame on Deepika’s visit to JNU, which is far away from the reality.

Chhapaak is looking to close the first week a little under 30 crore and it wouldn’t have any gas left in the tank to record even a decent trend in the second week. The best faring belt for the film on Monday was Delhi – NCR as expected, primarily due to the local flavour.
