The ticket rates in multiplexes are often outside the reach of the common man. Hence, when National Cinema Day was announced on September 23, 2022, it led to a massive craze. On this day, most theatres across the country offered tickets for just Rs. 75. The second edition of the National Cinema Day was celebrated on October 13, 2023, when the tickets were priced at Rs. 99. In between, the multiplex chains came up with Cinema Lovers Day on January 20, 2023. Its second edition was celebrated earlier this year on February 23, and it helped cinema halls record healthy footfalls. It was the day when Article 370 and Crakk were released, and both these films benefited. The next Cinema Lovers Day was expected to happen in 2025. However, the exhibition has given a nice surprise to the viewers. They have decided to once again celebrate Cinema Lovers Day this Friday, that is, April 19.

As it happened earlier on this day, multiplexes will offer tickets at a nominal price of just Rs. 99. The source told Bollywood Hungama, “All the multiplex chains will get a mail about this offer today from the Multiplex Association of India. As it happened in the previous instances, the majority of the single screens, smaller chains and standalone theatres will also implement the offer.” Miraj Cinemas announced the offer yesterday evening on their social media handles.

The move is expected to benefit the films running in cinemas, especially the new releases. A trade source commented, “The major releases are Dibakar Banerjee’s bold thriller Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2 and Vidya Balan-Pratik Gandhi-Ileana D’Cruz-Sendhil Ramamurthy starrer romcom, Do Aur Do Pyaar. Both these films will be at an advantage. The other two new releases, the semi-animated Luv You Shankar and the Hollywood dystopian thriller Civil War will also now pull in more audience.”

The source continued, “The Eid releases, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Maidaan, haven’t worked. But viewers might turn up to watch these films for Rs. 99 on April 19. The other holdover films like Madgaon Express, Crew and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire are already doing well, and this offer will boost their footfalls this Friday.”

While the normal seats will be priced at Rs. 99, the recliners and the films playing in special formats like 3D, IMAX, 4DX etc will be available for Rs. 199.

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai’s Bandra neighbourhood witnessed a disturbing security breach on April 14. Two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle fired multiple rounds outside Galaxy Apartments, where Khan resides. No injuries were reported. However, the incident sent shockwaves through the industry and raised concerns about the actor’s safety. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde personally contacted Khan and assured him of heightened security measures and met the Khan family after the two assailants were arrested and brought back to Mumbai.

Days later, his father, veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, who lives in the same building, acknowledged the ongoing police investigation and the state government’s assurances. He spoke to India Today and said in Hindi, “What’s there to talk about? Yeh jaahil log joh kehte hain maar denge tab pata lagega na (These illiterate people say you’ll learn your lesson when we’ll kill you). We’ve been given extra police protection. They’ve (Mumbai Police) assured protection for us and our friends. If they’ve arrested two people today, that means they’re on it.”

He added, “There is nothing to fear. The matter is now with the police. The Maharashtra government has assured full protection. Salman will continue his schedule as usual.”

Salman Khan has been provided Y-plus category security, a high level of security detail reserved for high-profile individuals facing serious threats, for almost a year. Following the incident, authorities further bolstered security around Khan and his family. Media captured Salman exiting the apartment complex for the first time on Tuesday since the incident, surrounded by significant police protection.

Chief Minister Shinde made a visit on Tuesday to Salman Khan’s residence. Following his meeting, he spoke to the media and reiterated the government’s commitment to Khan’s safety, emphasizing that such acts would not be tolerated.  “I have assured Salman Khan that the government stands behind him, and his safety is the government’s responsibility. The government will ensure that no one dares to do such an act in Mumbai,” as reported by PTI.

He also went on to add, “This is Maharashtra, no gang is left here. Be it Lawrence Bishnoi or anyone else, we will eliminate him. Any kind of bullying by anyone will not work in Maharashtra. We will uproot all the gangs and goons. Hooliganism will not be allowed to continue. If any gang is to be found involved in this, they will not be spared. The accused are being interrogated. Strict actions will be taken. I don’t want to comment on what happened in the past government, but we will uproot all the gangs and goons who will try to harm any person of the state.”

MNS chief Raj Thackeray and Salman’s sister Arpita Sharma also visited the family, offering their support. Taking to social media, Salman’s brother Arbaaz Khan called the incident “unnerving” and expressed the family’s shock. He emphasized their full cooperation with the police investigation and their faith in the authorities to ensure their safety.  The family refrained from further media statements, prioritizing the investigation.

According to a report in NDTV, sources revealed that two gunmen are reportedly affiliated with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang. Anmol Bishnoi, Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother, claimed responsibility in an online post, describing the attack as a “preview” and issuing a warning to the Bollywood actor. However, the authenticity of the claim is yet to be verified independently.

A film making waves around the film festival circuit for the past 6 months, Lord Curzon Ki Haveli, actor Anshuman Jha’s directorial debut about Asians in the UK will have its British Premiere at the UK-Asian Film Festival 2024, at Regent Cinema on May 11th. Anshuman Jha with his leading lady Rasika Dugal are expected to walk the red carpet in London.

The film had its World Premiere at IFFM Australia, its North American Premiere at CSAFF Chicago, its Canadian Premiere at ISAFF Vancouver, its European Premiere at the biggest genre film festival in Europe ‘Razor Reel’ & its Indian Premiere at WENCH&Red Lorry – will finally go back to Britain where it has been shot. The jury has called it “a really inventive film. And a zany homage to Alfred Hitchcock with a very desi twist. With its postcolonial subtext (couched in dark humour) it will be a great watch for British Asian and cross-over audiences.”

The film starring Rasika Dugal, Arjun Mathur, Zoha Rahman, Paresh Pahuja & Tanmay Dhanania is a black comedy thriller and is produced by Golden Ratio Films & First Ray Films.

Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again boasts a star-studded cast including Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor and Tiger Shroff with Akshay Kumar and Ranveer Singh also reprising their previous roles from Sooryavanshi and Simmba.  Now, Shetty is set to shoot a mega dance number featuring all of these stars. While Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Arjun Kapoor and Tiger Shroff are set for the dance number, Akshay Kumar and Ranveer Singh will also make cameo appearances. The filmmaker is filming an elaborate song at a Vile Parle set starting today, April 17.

Rohit Shetty has been filming the action sequences for the film’s last leg at Golden Tobacco Factory. A separate grand set has been built for this song. The shoot was originally scheduled for April 15 but has been pushed back to today. Ganesh Acharya is choreographing the song with 400 background dancers. The main cast will film the number over the next four days. However, Deepika Padukone might not be able to participate, as the actress is currently expecting her first child.

According to a report in Mid-day, the source revealed, “Ganesh Acharya is choreographing it, and has hired 400 background dancers. The primary cast will film the vibrant number over the next four days. However, Deepika, who is among the newest entrants in the cop verse, might give it a miss.”

Meanwhile, Bollywood Hungama recently reported that Shetty is now eyeing Diwali 2024 release date and will push from Independence Day 2024 release, making way for Pushpa 2: The Rule. “Rohit Shetty, Ajay Devgn, and the team have been shooting day and night for Singham Again with the will to bring it during the August 15, 2024 weekend. However, the shoot is taking longer than expected as a film like Singham Again requires a lot of attention. Rohit and Ajay don’t want to rush through the proceedings only to make it to a certain release date. They want the scale and vision to come out exactly as fleshed on the paper without any compromise,” a trade source told Bollywood Hungama.

Rohit and Ajay have already conveyed their idea of delaying the film to Jio Studios and the date of August 15 is now vacant. “Jio has suggested a Diwali 2024 release to Rohit and Ajay, and the duo is also considering the date. The timelines of VFX and background score are now being reworked keeping the Diwali 2024 deadline in mind. Diwali has also proved to be lucky for Ajay and Rohit combo,” the source told us.

An official announcement about the new release date of Singham Again is expected to be made shortly, but at the moment, the film is 100% pushed from the already announced date of August 15, 2024.

On Sunday, Mumbai woke up to the news of two gunshots being fired at Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s residence in the city. In the past, Salman Khan has received several threats from a gangster named Lawrence Bishnoi and he is being suspected to have been involved in the recent attack against Khan and his family. In order to showcase his support and provide assurance to the family, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde visited their residence in suburban Mumbai.

After speaking to Salman Khan and his family, Eknath Shinde also addressed the media present outside the famous Galaxy Apartments in Bandra, suburban Mumbai wherein he assured that the family including the superstar has been given extra security. He also maintained that the two arrests, which were made earlier this year, are currently being probed regarding the case.

As per a News18 report, Eknath Shinde was quoted saying, “I met with Salman Khan and assured him the government is with him. I also directed the police team to take immediate action on this, after which two of the accused have been arrested. I have also directed the Police Commissioner to provide security for Salman Khan and his family, and the instructions have already been given to Mumbai Police regarding security. It is our duty to take care of our people,”

Janhvi Kapoor’s upcoming film Ulajh has been in the news for quite some time. This is mostly because of the unusual cast of the film, which also includes Gulshan Devaiah and Meiyang Chang. Now, the teaser of the movie is all set to release tomorrow at 11 am IST.

The news was shared by Janhvi on her official Instagram page. She shared a video where the title of the movie appears jumbled and then appear in the right order, which goes with the theme of the film. She captioned the post as, “#UlajhTeaser out tomorrow at 11am!”

The announcement was enough to spark excitement among Janhvi’s fans on Instagram. This was evident from the numerous comments on the post where they expressed their happiness and wished her good luck for the film.

Jahvi had wrapped shooting for Ulajh in September last year. At that time, she had posted an emotional note, which read, “It’s a wrap. still having dreams of the world we tried to create. Not too long ago, ZEE TV announced a new show that revolves around a child playing a catalyst in the relationship between his single mother and the man who loves her in Main Hoon Saath Tere. After popular actor Ulka Gupta and Imlie actor Karan Vohra were roped in to play leads Janhvi and Aryaman on the show, featuring alongside them will be Mansi Srivastava, best known for her role as Bhavya in Ishqbaaz. She will be seen playing Aryaman’s sister, Raina.

Although she is the youngest daughter of the Bundela family, she is very ambitious and works hard to achieve her goals. But she despises Aryaman and doesn’t want him to own any part of the Bundela property as he is the son from her father’s second marriage. Her character in the show will be the source of a lot of conflict and complications in Aryaman’s life.

Speaking about her character, Mansi Srivastava said, “I am back on Zee TV after my stint in Kundali Bhagya, and my role in Main Hoon Saath Tere is even more exciting. My character, Raina will keep the audience on the edge of their seats with her wickedness. The look is classy and sharp with straight, silky hair and designer sarees. She acts very entitled, and as Aryaman is her step-brother, she feels he doesn’t deserve any of the inheritance. She is vile and can go to any lengths to fulfill her needs. I have started shooting for the show and am looking forward to seeing the audience’s reaction towards our show and my new character.”

Coming to Main Hoon Saath Tere, the show promises to take its viewers through the journey of a single mother, Janvi (Ulka Gupta), underlining the constant social scrutiny and numerous challenges a mother has to face while doubling up as a parent. Janvi lives with her son Kian, who is the nucleus of her world but despite their strong bond, Kian experiences the void of a man’s presence in the house, more as a partner for his mother than a father for himself The plot thickens when Janvi crosses paths with an affluent businessman Aryaman (Karan Vohra) and the two end up working under the same roof.

The show, which will be an innocent take on love, life, and relationships, is all set to premiere on April 29 at 07:30 pm on Zee TV.

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan is scheduled to host the 16th season of Kaun Banega Crorepati. The news has come as a pleasant surprise after an emotional goodbye by the host in the last season of the show. The news was announced by Sony Entertainment Television via its official Instagram account through a promo.

The video began with Amitabh’s heartfelt remark as the past season came to an end. However, as it closes voice can be heard, stating, “Har aarambh ka ant taye hai magar apnon ke pyar mein jo anand hai.. to har ant ke baad shubharambh nishchit hai (Every beginning is destined to have an end, but the joy in people’s love insures a restart after every finish).”

The creators announced that registration for KBC 16 will begin on April 26. The caption read, “Aisa mila pyar ki laut raha hai fir ek baar (There was so much love that we’ve come back once again) #KaunBanegaCrorepati.. shuru ho rahe hai #KBCRegistrations 26 April raat 9 baje (The registrations start 9 pm on April 26) @amitabhbachchan #KBConSonyTV #KBC16 #kbcisback.” He later said, “Gunja jo aapke pyar ka shankhnaad, to aana padega fir (If the sound of your love echoes, I will have to come again).”

After the announcement on Instagram, fans reacted to the messages with excitement. One of them wrote, “thanks for bringing new season of KBC.” Another mentioned, “Yessss….. waiting for Mr. Bachchan sir.”

While wrapping up the 15th season, Bachchan had said, “Devi aur sajjano, ab hum jaa rahe aur kal se yeh manch ab nahi sajega. Apno se yeh keh pana ki kal se hum yahan nahi aa payenge, na kehne ki himmat hoti aur na kehne ka mann hota hai (Ladies and gentleman, now it’s time to go as the stage won’t be the same. It’s difficult to let everyone know that we won’t be returning here from tomorrow).”

Zeenat Aman has acquired a ‘diva’ status on social media with the yesteryear star sharing emotional anecdotes, tracing her journey in the world of glamor and entertainment. In one such post, when Aman advised the youngsters to opt for live-in before marriage, it did not go down well with Zeenat’s former colleague Mumtaz.

While speaking to Zoom, the yesteryear actress said, “Zeenat should be careful with what she is advising. She has all of a sudden come into this huge social media popularity, and I can understand her excitement about sounding like a cool aunty. But giving advice that is counter to our moral values is not the solution to increasing your following.”

For the unversed, Mumtaz reacted to the post in which Zeenat Aman had written, “Here’s a personal opinion I haven’t previously shared – if you’re in a relationship, I strongly recommend that you LIVE TOGETHER before getting married!” She had went on to add, “This is the same advice I’ve always given my sons, both of whom have had, or are in, a live-in relationship. It just seems logical to me that before two people get their families and the government involved in their equation, they first put their relationship to the ultimate test.”
