South Korean label giant HYBE has shared a new statement addressing the issue of expenses for pop titans’ BTS’ upcoming World Expo 2030 concert in Busan. In the statement, the label giant shared that the expenses that are not funded by corporate sponsorship, online streaming advertisements, THE CITY subsidiary enterprise, etc., would be personally covered by the company itself. The label also affirmed that BTS will be performing without pay in efforts to realize their past hopes of partaking in a free concert with fans.

As noted by Korean media portal Soompi, HYBE remarked that BTS has participated in national events since the past, and they did not consider the costs at the forefront while doing so, always carefully considering support from the government as it is the taxpayers’ money. The same will apply for the Busan concert, and the government, local government, and the expo’s committee is doing their best to provide a concert venue and finance the concert within a limited budget.

According to the report, HYBE further clarified their stance that they do not think it is desirable for large amounts of resources of the governments and businesses to be invested or exhausted through the concert. BTS has had great results at previous national events because they concentrated on creating high-quality results, which was meaningful in and of itself. “HYBE and BTS are proud to contribute to the country,” HYBE further stated. Moreover, as the report suggests, the 2030 Busan World Expo will bring economic effects of several tens of trillion wons (several tens of billion dollars) to Busan and Korea. “Korea is said to be the ‘underdog’ in the competition to host the 2030 Busan World Expo,” HYBE added.

“We think everyone should work together to show a great reversal [of expectations] to be able to hold 2030 Busan World Expo, so that is why the company and BTS have decided to support [the cause]. Through this concert, HYBE and BTS want to make Busan a place that the world puts a spotlight on.” “HYBE and BTS will do our best until the end so that the Busan concert will become a cornerstone for the bid to host the 2030 Busan World Expo.”

South Korean actors Lee Joon, Hwang Jung Eum, Yoon Jong Hoon, Lee Yoo Bi, Shin Eun Kyung, Jo Yoon Hee, Jo Jae Yoon, and Lee Deok Hwa are confirmed to join Uhm Ki Joon in the new suspense drama by SBS The Escape of the Seven (literal title).

According to Korean media portal Soompi, The Escape of the Seven tells the story of seven people, who are involved in the case of a missing girl, facing a huge incident entangled with many lies and desires. The drama will dynamically portray the truth-seeking journey as well as the bloody retribution that is like divine punishment.

The drama comes from the scriptwriter Kim Soon Ok and director Joo Dong Min who previously worked together on The Last Empress and The Penthouse series. According to the report, Uhm Ki Joon will take on the role of mysterious figure Matthew Lee, the representative of Korea’s largest mobile platform company.

Hwang Jung Eum will play Geum Ra Hee, the talented and daring representative of a drama production company who is a self-righteous woman and will do whatever it takes to earn wealth and success. She tries to find her daughter, whom she abandoned 15 years ago, with the objective of inheriting a large inheritance.

Lee Joon will take on the role of former gangster Min Do Hyuk who has no dreams or hopes. As the report describes, Min Do Hyuk is a person who lives and dies by loyalty, but unfortunately his life is full of unexpected series of betrayals. Yoon Jong Hoon will play Yang Jin Mo, the CEO of Cherry Entertainment. Yang Jin Mo is usually gentle, but he has endless greed, and when he explodes in anger, no one can stop him.

Lee Yoo Bi will be seen as Han Mo Ne, a campus star and idol trainee. With her beauty, wealthy family, and outstanding talent, Han Mo Ne is a wannabe star among her friends. Shin Eun Kyung will take on the role of Cha Joo Ran, an obstetrician-gynecologist.

Jo Yoon Hee, who will return to the small screen after about three years, will take on the role of Go Myung Ji, an art teacher. Jo Jae Yoon will portray the role of Nam Chul Woo, a washed-out detective on the outskirts of the city who has no luck with his cases gets a speedy promotion for the first time in five years.

Lastly, Lee Deok Hwa will play Bang Chil Sung. Also known as Chairman Bang, he is a reputed building owner and rich in cash. He lives with and opens up to his tenant Cha Joo Ran instead of his own family.

The production team shared, “The desperate escape story of the seven who are intertwined with desires and secrets will unfold dynamically. The synergy between scriptwriter Kim Soon Ok, who returned with an even more shocking and intense story, director Joo Dong Min, and the actors will bring about another sensation.”

The Escape of the Seven is scheduled to air in 2023.

Ranveer Singh has taken an initiative to support Indian sign language, and he has a special request for his fans. Ranveer Singh has been constantly urging authorities to consider and declare Indian Sign Language (ISL) as the 23rd official language of India. He has asked his fans to contribute to him for a noble cause. On Friday, Ranveer shared a story on his Instagram where he asked his followers to sign a petition that appeals to include Indian sign language as the 23rd official language in the Constitution of India.

In his post, Ranveer wrote, “The petition link is live. Let’s make Indian sign language the 23rd official language under our Constitution. Support, sign, share.” Singh shared the story with the petition link.

For the unversed, the languages included in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution are Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Dogri, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Maithili, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Santhali, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.
The petition Singh is supporting was made by the National Association of the Deaf (NAD), which has demanded the Home Ministry take urgent steps to include Indian Sign Language (ISL) in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. As the association seeks bigger support, they created a petition, asking people in making this change possible. Well, this is quite noble of Ranveer for backing such a cause.

On the work front, Ranveer Singh will next be seen in Rohit Shetty’s Cirkus and Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Prem Kahani.

Singer Greyson Chance, the young musician who went viral in April 2010 after a video of his middle school performance of Lady Gaga’s ‘Paparazzi’ and was invited to appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, spoke about being “completely abandoned” by the talk show host. DeGeneres introduced the singer to industry executives, and signed him to her record label, all within the same year he became an internet sensation. The musician now shared that the glitz and glamor of superstardom quickly faded away.

As per his interview with Rolling Stone, Ellen DeGeneres took hold of his career. “My whole week, my whole month, my whole year could change [with] one text message from her,” he said in a recent interview published on Thursday. “That was horrible.”

“I’ve never met someone more manipulative, more self-centered, and more blatantly opportunistic than her,” he told the outlet. “I remember her pulling my mom aside and saying, ‘You’re never going to have to work again a day in your life,’” Chance said adding that DeGeneres had told his mother, “I’m going to protect you. I’m going to be here for you. We’re going to do this together.” After joining DeGeneres’ label, Chance said she became “domineering and way too controlling,” making even the minute decisions for him.

“She would come in and look at a rack, yell at stylists, berate people in front of me and say, ‘This is what you’re wearing on the show,'” he said. “She was just degrading to people.” According to the report, Chance also alleged that DeGeneres “completely abandoned” him and wouldn’t return his calls. “I couldn’t get ahold of her. Couldn’t talk to her,” Chance said. “Whenever I would come on the show, it was such a fake smile. She wouldn’t even ask, ‘How are you doing? How are you holding up?’ It was just like, ‘Here’s what we’re going to talk about. We’ll see you on there.'”

While he went on to release his own music independently and made multiple appearances on The Ellen DeGeneres Show until 2019, Chance said that his interactions with the titular host became a lot less friendly. As the now 25-year-old reflected on the first part of his career, he noted that he owes “a lot of thanks to her and to that team. But the reason why I’m here today talking about an album, I owe f—ing nothing to her.”
